It deserves every cent. It was a good film, it has its issues but with a good box office it can do better be better. The more it earns the more motivation the creative team gets. They deserve it, the visuals the actors the writers and Wes Ball. Apes together strong.

Most criticism I heard about the movie was mainly associated with people comparing it with the previous trilogy, some wanting it to be a direct sequel and criticizing it for being different in terms of tone and pacing, and not criticizing it in isolation

I won't lie I was one of those fans only because I saw commercials say it was the best of the reboot series. Other than that, real critiques I had was how proximus kind of was barely in the movie but had a very cool concept of a new villain. I also wasn't fan on how proximus died, singing birds really? I hope part 2 explains more about RAKA and hopefully proximus and raka are alive still

also a lot of excitement and expectations. No matter what appears on that screen- it will fall flat. For me, re-watching it I've noticed gets better every time. There's so much to look at and it feels a lot like Fellowship of the Ring; not in story, but in a sense of introduction style and pacing. Trust me It will certainly pick up, greatly, in the second film in what I believe will be the best of the trilogy as they've set it up this way(i.e. Two Towers). Just wait, a few years will go by and with the time to watch it again at home and an amazing sequel to Kingdom it will all come together. Time seems to do this series a favor for whatever reason. It's the rewatchability and questions it leaves to the imagination. Of course, if you aren't the type that likes slow burners or art it would probably be a miss for you and a lot of other casual viewers.

I couldn’t agree more. Where some people get this idea that ape movies are 100% action packed, just blows my mind. It’s like, really? Where? When? 😂 It’s almost like a critic hears one thing, then it snowballs into a domino effect without realizing what they’re talking about. They just copy and paste their thoughts. And while they praise Dawn and War as having more action and more fast paced, clearly it shows they haven’t seen those movies in years to make such a ridiculous statement. 😂 Love the channel! Keep up the great work! 👍🏻

I have been thinking about Kingdom since I saw it on Thursday. I really enjoyed it, but I think it gets better upon reflection. It really nails the thematic elements of the Caesar Trilogy (the power of communication and cooperation) it presents an entirely new roster of interesting, compelling characters, raises fascinating questions about what happened between Caesars death and now, and raises many intriguing questions about what other human factions are out there, and what they intend. And finally, it does a great job of both referencing the OG Series and inverting those elements to make them fresh/less predictable.

@@Yanel5795 I think we are still a few steps from the ending of Kingdom and the world of the original POTA and Beneath. At least one more movie (or two) to bridge the time periods and then they can remake the original. @Alejandroigarabide no they are not Kingdom tells a single story with its purpose of mae retrieving the key to helping humanity communicate with each other again, nothing more needs to be told in tge year 2400s AD. They need to skip to the year 5,000/6,000 ad like the original and tell that story. No Beneath film is necessary. Since We now know intelligent humans live and are from militaries that went under ground/in bases. They can add elements from prequels, originals like Cesars relgion and have it have sects. Since ceasar was pro peace. They can have apes who believe in ceasara Orginal teachings and another ape religion can have it corrupt ceasars teaching and have them enslaving humans, etc. Film 3 should be the resolution like Battle (1973) Then they can have an Apes film set in 10,000 Ad with 2 advanced civilizations war it out, humans vs apes. Planet of The Apes: 10,000

I finally got to see it this weekend. I was going to go opening weekend, but illness prevented it. I loved this film a lot. It brought in new story elements, but also honoring the past. It took a very different road then the original series in the 70s with continuation, but in some sense there is a link. The humans in the bunker are equivalent to the mutants. The feral humans lived in the outskirts of the apes and the mutants lived under the ruins of the city. But since this was more based on the virus, there would be no post nuclear war mutants, but it would have surviving humans who lived in bunkers away from catching the virus. In some sense, I see it that way. But at the same time, it’s totally different. One thing for sure, we will see more of them in the future films. We will probably get to know more about Mae and of course Noa’s journey will continue with new adventures and his growth. I really can’t wait to see the next film. I am totally ready and on board. Oh, I did cry when Raka died, or so we think he died. I really loved him. Perhaps he was washed away in the water, but might have survived. No sure if that will happen or not, but it’s a thought. Another thought I had was that Proximous was not seen dead, maybe he survived. Who knows. We won’t know until the next film. I already feel certain we will have a trilogy from this. No matter what happens, these films make enough to have more films. The studio likes them. Planets of the Apes is a true Science Fiction film series. I am a totally Star Wars fanatic but I have always loved Planet of the Apes side by side.

Saw it twice already. I can't recommend Imax enough, the film is strong visually. There's definitely more to come with the story and how it ends. I really want to see where it goes. Noa is an interesting character and very flawed. He's trying to be a leader like his father was but keeps getting stomped. It's not boring at all. There's a good pace. I loved the beach shots and the zebras at the lake scene. I am just glad the franchise is back and looking good.

Theory: the vault is actually the cave seen in the original film. There were no weapons as they had been washed away and the doll is the exact same as the one in the original film. Plus it would explain the false teeth as they where from someone previously living in the vault, and the ape bones are from those who drowned when it was flooded.

I felt it was ANOTHER quest/journey type film like what had gone before twice, it could have lost...15 minutes & not been any harder to understand. I did like the reveal at the end & the girl's true purpose, also the idea of the bearded man teaching the conquer Ape about ancient Rome & it's structure, what also worked was the Orangutang teaching Noah about the legendary Cesear that we all remember from the previous films, I would hope that if they made yet another Apes film, it would be more...scientific with labs like in RISE OF APES, perhaps with humans being liberated from tyrannical rule ,along with Apes, that might take part in Olympic type games, as it was in SPARTACUS (which is what I thought the plot would be this time)

I want to see another tribe and protagonist ape set up, but then have him meet Noah and be dropped into the human/ape conflict with the new ape. Take the only decent thing from Beneath, switch it up, and make it better. It is a great story telling technique that I don't think gets used well enough. Sure, superhero movies use it, but they blow it up so much that you start to not care about the characters. It would also fit so well into the world that's been built. We need to see a tribe or two more to really fill it out.

Yeah the criticism of it being too slow and not enough action is unjustified. The Apes movies are not Transformers and are more intelligent than that they've never been all action and rightly put story, character and the thought provoking themes first. People also complained about War lacking in action which I also don't get they totally missed the point of that film, I never thought Kingdom dragged at all heck Battle For The Planet of The Apes is an hour shorter yet it was far more boring in comparison!

As good or even better than the new trilogy IMO. Kingdom had a subtle, but heavy socio-political metaphor that the last trilogy lacked. The Mae character. Won't spoil, but what she does and where her character ends up, especially by the finale....very angry feminist vibe for sure. Remember, the OG feminists were angry towards the white patriarchy and were racist AF. Mae filled that archetype.

Okay so I just got back from seeing this!!! Ohmygod. Ohmygod! Okay spoiler warning because I just need to talk about all my feelings!!!! SPOILERS COMING!!🤯 IT WAS AMAZING! I loved every moment. Kinda shocked people felt it was a bit to slow but I'm just so enthralled by the apes I'm never bored. Like could it have been even longer?? FIRST I need to cry about the Mae betrayal!!! THAT HURT! I'm still not okay. You know something's wrong. You know she's taking advantage of how clueless Noa and his friends are when they enter that vault. You know whatever she's after, it's not good for apes, everything in that vault screams bad for the apes. But I still didn't expect for her to do what she did, betraying Noa and his friends and leaving them to die. After Noa and his friends helped her, and Raka died trying to save her The way that whole scene plays out, the utter terror as Noa and his apes are all just fighting to survive and stay alive, it was insane. And THE GORILLA!!! Nothing has scared me yet in this franchise like him. Every time he showed up you were just terrified. When he was charging Noa at the end - I was just replaying The Last of Us and it felt like a bloater charging you, that's the feeling I got because he's so strong and just charging and roaring and you know he's to powerful. When Proximus says, "What have you done" I actually got chills. Proximus is terrible, enslaving clans and killing other apes, but in that moment you felt horrified realizing he was right about needing to get into that vault first. He knew how apes were once kept in cages and he knew you could not trust a human. And Noa trusted a human, and suddenly they were all at risk of death. I'm still in shock over what Mae did, and yet I realize from her point of view, Raka and Noa and his friends were the only good apes she'd ever met, but she couldn't let that get in the way of her mission. It goes back to the Colonel "what would you have done?" and Dreyfus "I'm saving the human race" Mae has to do the hard thing, to in her mind, save humanity. I'm so curious on what comes next for Mae. When she was holding that gun behind her back, I felt like she was both considering shooting Noa or preparing to defend herself if he reacted badly. But his mention of Raka, and gifting her his necklace with Caesar's symbol and pondering if humans and apes could ever live together, she reacted in a way that suggests her actions caused her pain. I'm so curious what Mae's journey will be. Will she continue to be ruthless for the sake of humanity, or will she give consideration to the idea of apes and humans living together? She felt like quite a mystery, holding onto so many secrets. And also OMG - so many humans survived underground!! What does this mean for apes??? What did Mae take from the vault? It feels like the apes have another big threat coming! After War, I didn't think humans would be a threat again and yet, 300 years later it looks like they're trying to find a way to reclaim their place, but how can they? So many questions for what is next! More things I need to talk about - gosh I got teary eyed at Caesar's funeral. Wasn't expecting to see him one last time, or any of his apes from his time. So seeing that funeral got me, and then Noa finding his father dead got me teary, and then him reuniting with his friend and his mom got me too. The movie was so emotional and intense. I enjoyed watching Noa leave on his own to find his clan, and meeting Raka and learning about Caesar. I really liked the quiet moments too. I get so lost in watching the expressions of the apes, their movements, how they react to their world. Loved all the characters. I want more!!! Waiting is gonna be so hard again, but we're all in it together!!

I liked it but it felt so rushed. No real character development. I wanted way more proximus lore and proximus interaction.
