Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is directed by Wes Ball (the “Maze Runner” trilogy) and stars Owen Teague (“IT”), Freya Allan (“The Witcher”), Kevin Durand (Locke & Key”), Peter Macon (“Shameless”), and William H. Macy (“Fargo”). The screenplay is by Josh Friedman (“War of the Worlds”) and Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (“Avatar: The Way of Water”) and Patrick Aison (“Prey”), based on characters created by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, and the producers are Wes Ball, Joe Hartwick, Jr. (“The Maze Runner”), Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Jason Reed (“Mulan”), with Peter Chernin (the “Planet of the Apes” trilogy) and Jenno Topping (“Ford v. Ferrari”) serving as executive producers.

Ya. Deep down though. I wish that humanity at least didn’t turn into grug mode. I get that’s the key plot in the role reverse of man and ape. Except the few cases in the older films. However I feel in how they progressed humanities downfall feels so lack luster. In the sense everyone became stupid cause of the virus off screen. Or the last gasp of cognitive and organized humanity died in a landslide in the 2nd film. I hope maybe we see competent tribal humans or maybe a small population of unaffected smart humans. but not just cave men people ya know?

@ImNeoFr
@ImNeoFr 5 ай бұрын
yep. started with ceaser barely being able to string together 3 words. then in the second movie hes about 30 in human years so he can speak in short sentences. in the third one he’s having full blown conversations but sometimes the speech is very simplistic. it would make sense that over the course of a couple hundred years, the apes get smarter and smarter and evolve exponentially with each generation and are able to speak like humans in a short amount of time. since the drug that game them their intelligence doesn’t just repair brain cells it actually grows the brain and creates new cells, kind of like a forced evolution. realistically, for the apes to go from what they were in the third prequel, to what we see in the original movies (solely bipedal human-like apes with a human-like society) it would take hundreds of thousands of years of evolution, just looking at our own history in real life. but maybe since they have the drug which exponentially grows their brains, they evolved to the point of humans in only a couple thousand years, and thats why the statue of liberty still exists in the original planet of the apes, because if they evolved normally it would’ve disintegrated. very excited to see what ape society is like in the middle period between ape and human.

This reboot series has been an absolute masterpiece, the first film "Rise" was decent tentpole fun but the Shakespeare-influenced sequels "Dawn" and "War" directed by Matt Reeves massively elevated the series from there. @@juliuscaesar2912 Not sure if you're joking given your username, but the writers of "Rise" and "Dawn" cite Henry V and Julius Caesar (you!) as specific inspirations. The third film "War", which changed writers, also took inspiration from the Old Testament and The Bridge on the River Kwai, a war film. Beyond that, the general theme of inevitable conflict pervades the entire series, which is a quintessential Shakespearean theme.

@@commandercaptain4664 I think it helps that they've done a really good job of making each movie a stand-alone movie. Each one feels complete and they don't tease the next sequel. I didn't even know they were making another installment until I came across this trailer just now.

I haven't been this happy about a movie in along time. I can't believe there's people who laugh at these movies and call them bad. The trilogy was beautiful and the characters were amazing never once do you think I'm watching a cgi ape. The way they brought Caesar, Koba, rocket, Maurice , red, Bad ape, Luca and many more to life was a thing of beauty. Anyone not giving these movies a chance are missing out on masterpieces. Andy Serkis is the king of motion capture and brought one of the best characters in cinema to life along with Toby Kebbell bringing one of the best villain's. Truly some of the best movies in the last 20 years. Oh and Rip Buck the real hero who gave his life allowing Caesar to live and build a life for his fellow apes. I always wondered what would have happened if Caesar was wounded on the Bridge and Died once they got to the woods. Do you think the apes would have still thrived.

This is EVERYTHING I hoped this series would lead to back when the first movie came out in 2011. They took their time crafting this world and it paid off in spades. This is how you build a franchise properly.

How genius of them to deliver such a carefully crafted prequel series leading up to the Charlton Heston version. They took their time for a massive pay off that I think will be worth the wait. I love every bit of these prequel/sequels. Can’t wait.

@RyanM95 Yes it is, they are literally prequels, the writers said they intended them to be and clearly set up the original film in Rise, War, and now Kingdom. You can tell that Kingdom is set relatively recently before it. They are prequels while ignoring the sequels to the original film

Ladies and gentlemen, it opens in 3 months! I’m so happy we finally have reached the point in this franchise where it comes full circle We finally see the point in time where humans have devolved into the feral species and the apes rule everything Plus they’ve mastered the speech, the hunting tactics, and the government/politics of their culture after 300 years I definitely got some 2001 Tim Burton vibes off of this too The director even pitched a new trilogy from this point meaning we might actually see Taylor’s character from the 1968 film start the chain of events that began all those decades ago This will be one of 2024’s best movies
