I would have liked a short blurb about how difficult it is to pull off tower defense in board games and how Kingdom Rush stacks up to the rest.

I'm a little bummed about how small the maps seem to be compared to the video games, the madness of fighting off enemies in 3-5 lanes at once and figuring out the best way to do it through trial and error were some of the most fun parts of the video game versions, at least on the higher difficulties. I do find Tom's comments about the difficulty encouraging, as I like a difficult co-op game. They tend not to be that replayable, so getting some more fun/time out of them by replaying a challenging level adds to the appeal, to me at least.

If anyone is concerned about the rulebook, there is an update to it, and also a new Puzzle scenario booklet to help learn the game. It'd be cool if you get a chance to check it out and leave a quick update about the Puzzles when they are officially released soon :) Trying to rapidly make a name for myself as a unique "tutorial style rulebook writer"... so hopefully everyone enjoys it, and if not, I'll just take some critiques and improve for next time!

New campaign for the second game is live!!! And allows you to get the first KS campaign fully! F ing awesome! A kick to eBay vultures.

Fyi There’s a deluxe KS version that includes a better storage option for heroes.

I loved Pixel Junk Monsters on PS3. Kingdom Rush reminds me of that game along with Dawn of the Zed. What other games should I check out if I like the idea of tower defense, where an enemy is slowly coming down a trail while I am slowly chipping away at it before it reaches my base?

I just want to add that the set up took me 30-45 minutes each time. Then one game would take about an hour and a half. Then 30 minutes to put everything back away. Nearly three hours spent just to get beaten by one or two hearts. This has a very narrow audience in my opinion.

Sounds cool, i have my review copy to look at but that difficulty rating is worrying. I do wish the insert was better for storage also.

Not sure why people think app games make for good board games. And I really don't like tower defense games. BUT, this looks really fun and has a good price point! I'm in!

Since I missed the KS, I am passing on this one. Not sure if they will put out the expansion after the KS.

They mentioned having a 2021 "re-print", offering better storage options, and probably more expansions. Presumably you'll be able to get the already existing ones that way too

Yeah, maybe another approach to the Kingdom Rush game would be better... like enemy minatures or cardboard cuts, but I suppose that would've been expensier

During the campaign they said they actually ran a competition and a few teams submitted prototypes, most of them competitive, and some likely (but I don't think they specified this) "traditional" tower defense. They said the co-op one, which is this one, was the most fun to play AND featured a unique mechanic.

I never really get why Tom is always so unhappy about coops being difficult. To me that's really a positive thing. Having something like Pandemic, which is almost the definition of easy mode, where you know you'll win is not fun at all. I like these companies give us a challenge!

There's a fine line between challenge and relentless beatdown - it's not always fun to be constantly beaten. Difficulty ratings should be balanced so if you want that harsh beatdown, you have a "hard" mode for it.

Tom likes a good challenge. He totally loved Ghost Stories. His issue wasn’t with the game difficulty. Just the difficulty of the introductory scenario.

@@patrickherlihy2140 But two seconds later he mentioned you can play the game on easy mode. So not really getting why it's a negative if the game offers an easy mode as well.

I played kingdom rush in hardcore mode in the first time and win it.but this for my opinion is way harder is need cooperate with others and shorter route.hoping to purchase this game.by the way the heroes introduce in the kingdom rush frontier when the time i play kingdom rush,they is no heroes.good job and thank for the review.😁👍
