I met Elvis in 1975 in a gas station in Memphis. We talked for about 35 minutes and let me tell you, he was very friendly, funny and humble. Not only was he a great entertainer and , singer but he was a great person. Very generous to those who needed help. There will never be another like Elvis. Thank you for the post!!!

I had the pleasure of seeing Elvis at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas. I was only 15 and sat right next to the stage. He made eye contact with me, waved at me and said hello. He had a magical presence, electric, beautiful man. Beautiful voice and performance, i saw him two nights in a row. Now at my age, I realize what a gift he was to the world. He had a supernatural spirit of this world and at times really not of this world. He was so special in sweetness, talent and beauty. I really miss him and wish he were still here with us. He is still here in a way and I know his songs, music and memory will never die, but it would have been nice if he had a long physical life. He brought so much happiness to everyone.

I heard somewhere that he never played the saxaphone, well I guess there was a lot of instruments he never played but I have no doubt if he had given them a try he wouldn't have taken long to master them. There will never, ever be another entertainer like him. He could sing any song and make it beautiful. So sad he had the life he did and no one could stop his addition. No way to live. Couldn't stay awake take a pill, then Couldn't sleep take another pill.. My heart breaks for what he had to go through. He gave us something that will never die. The experience and the music. I'm 79 and have loved him since I was 14.

The world owes Gladys Love Smith Presley a huge debt of gratitude. What would the music world be like if Elvis' mother had not bought him his first guitar for his eleventh birthday, January 8, 1946? Even though he wasn't known for playing guitar (though we know he could), it was still part of molding him to become the icon we knew as Elvis.

i almost came to blows with a guy who tried to tell me elvis never even plugged in when he played guitar. look at that wrist man, fantastic sense of rythm. His best moments, he has a guitar in his hands, singing, playin and giving the band direction. Best musicians in the world on that stage.

I'm glad you really didn't fight!!! Truthfully in documentaries about Elvis it's been said Elvis only knew 3-4 chords.. Elvis himself even said in a live concert "believe it or not I only know 3 chords". Your right some of the best musicians are on that stage, Elvis said he knew how wanted the music to sound in his head that's why he would direct the band, and if didn't like it he'd make them rehearse it till it sounded the way Elvis wanted it to sound. Especially in rehearsals, in one concert they started to play the next song and E stops and Tells the guitar player, "Remember"! , and he hums the notes he wants played right...

Jos Barela i have a ba in music. im well aware of E's limitations BUT, As the man grew older and sicker, he expanded on his playing. he started forming chords up the neck instead of just the first 3 frets, he would also make sure the mike was very close to the guitar so he could hear himself. Even burton said that though E was no expert on guitar, his rythm was amazing and an important part of the over all live sound, if i was younger, i would have spit on the guy, he was disrespectful+went out of his way to knock Elvis+his talent. Im not quick to fight because im nearly 50 but at 40? probably wouda started a fight.Several cats he played with also claimed he had near perfect pitch.
