the High Heat has small wood strands compressed into it. Kingsford had put out a few smaller bages with different types of wood strands for 'flavor'. There was an Apple and Cherry version. I tried both of them the summer before last, from what I recall, it heated about the same but I did notice a difference in flavor from it. Thanks for taking the time to put this together!

Great video. I thought that it was going to be the same temperature for both of them. Could you do kingsford low and slow charcoal next comparison?

When was the last time you ever saw a two pack of 20lb bags at Home Depot? Instead of raising the price they cut the weight. I miss those days. That's when I used to stock up.

@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ I'm finally using the last of my Kingsford Blue from y stash. I was hoping Depot would be running a two bag sale. I do have a quick question for you. I know you like the B&B briquettes. Have you used B&B char logs? I have a bag of those and I'll Start on them now that my Blue bag is done. Oh, one more question. On your test which one lasted longer? On a low and slow longer is better I think.

I have the low and slow type and will be testing soon. They both lasted about the same. Haven’t tried the char logs. Enjoy!

Looking forward to that. I'll be doing rotisserie chicken next Sunday and will be using the char logs.

I've found that using a chimney starter with a torch and adding a few briquettes at a time yields better heat consistency when cooking meat other than steaks. Long-term grilling and lower heat settings require a different plan than one-off loading of charcoal. Great video. It's just what I was looking for. I will continue to use the longer lasting Kingsford regular charcoal and manipulate the number of pieces used for steak and brisket. Heat and charcoal burn longevity are entirely controllable using a chimney starter and a propane torch.

What I really want to know is why (ALL BRANDS AND KINDS ) of charcoal briquettes don’t last any time now ? It used to last hours but no longer does at all 🎉 anyone else notice this over the years ? Remember Ole Diz charcoal ?

Thanks for watching! Have you tried B&B briquettes?

Hey Tom. Last summer Costco sold a Kingsford Competition charcoal. It didn’t have any wood strands in it but I certainly noticed that they were much hotter than the blue bag. Have you ever used the Competition charcoal? Thanks for all the great videos.

Hey Tom, what brand/model is the scale you’re using in this video? Did I miss an earlier video about it? My golden rule is if I need to buy a product, I try to always buy what you use! 😂

Is that red grill in the background what was in the box in the background in a previous video? I love seeing new grills!

Thanks for Watching! I can tell you that the B&B burns cleaner and without as much ash as the kingsford

Kingsford turned to crap years ago. Switched to B&B and never looked back!!!!
