I love Eggsy/Harry. I never really have a huge problem with age gaps as long as they're both consenting adults. I'm a big fan of the idea that you can find the love of your life at any age.

I disagree with the grooming in this particular ship. What attracts people is the contrast between the two and the similarities, one is a cold, witty, well spoken and seasoned spy gentleman, and the other is a young, fresh off of the streets, whip smart, unapologetically himself, down to his roots young man. I think what is attractive is that, even through the film, they learn to appreciate themselves as they are. Eggsy only transforms truly after Harry's demise. This is spurned from losing someone he has grown close to through what I view as organic emotions from both. Eggsy wasn't as much groomed as he was simply given a chance to become a Kingsman. Before he even met Harry, he has served in the marines, a gymnast, actively making thoughtful, loyal, and overall morally right decisions, he also had a streak of taking revenge (see: stolen car scene), which accounts for Harry's avenged death(which was also the saving of the world.) Harry didn't groom Eggsy, Eggsy was already exactly what a Kingsman needed to be. And those who disagree with age? That's sexualizing age. Eggsy is 24 in the movies, Harry is in his early 50s or late 40s I believe. Viewing age as something that makes you stop from shipping a ship like this, one which effortlessly conveys an entire spectrum of emotions and trials, is unfortunate for you.

My thing for Hartwin is definitely the praise kink. Eggsy' been kicked about for most of his life, and probably has a low self image of himself because it's built by what others have told him; but it doesn't stop him from trying-- and that's what makes him different and admirable. So I'd love to think praise from Harry is something he finds so startling and and awkward, like not paying attention and walking into a pole, kind of awkward. He tries to shake it off but still blushes. Harry would notice and continue with it just to tease Eggsy. And that's why praise kink is the best ❤️

Golden Circle really played on the fandom's obsession with Hartwin. I mean, c'mon, you don't stare at your mentor like *that*

I love kingsman! Its diversity, how the women were just as strong as the men, that the villain was squemish with blood, guns, or any other violence. I'm a hartwin shipper. Romance with kink, romance, non-sexual age play, etc. I eat it up. I think the connection they have is rare. I feel like harry was once like eggsy. Vulgar, disrespectful, impatient, and reckless (though obviously he and eggsy really have that in common). They trust one another, and that can be seen in so many ways. That is why when eggsy saw harry "die" I felt that pain too. These two are endgame for me cannon or fannon.

OMG is Hartwin!!!! This ship successfully pull me into the fantastic fandom world of shipping! I love these two characters. Harry is such a charming and representation of how a gentlemen should be and Eggsy is such a reverse of that. With such a contrast, Eggsy admires Harry and Harry do show affection to Eggsy. The journey of they put each other in their own shoes is an amazing story of them develop a relationship beyond a mentor and mentee. Also, the interactions between the two actors is bonus factor in the shipping of these two characters (basically Taron is a fanboy of Colin lol) Can't wait to see the 2nd movie how their relationship goes! (2 years of waiting and finally!!!!!!!!) PS can you make a video on Grandence (Percival Graves (the REAL one, NOT Gellert Grindelwald) and Credence Barebone) from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? Exactly as you said...it just happened. I personally never saw the father figure dynamic. It was more of a brotp add the great chemistry and in the end I shipped them full on.

I really like what you said about it being a case by case basis. I enjoy Hartwin but partly because the Hartwin fic I've read was all set after Eggsy's training and had the characters grappling with the issue of the age gap & power dynamic, plus Harry's always-fake death & its emotional consequences. Reading fic that didn't address that would make me super uncomfortable - I usually stay away from fic tagged student/teacher relationship for other ships unless I've read other works from that author and feel I can trust them with it.

I'm still crossing my fingers for a Napollya episode. cx I have to admit that even though I haven't seen this movie, the idea of this ship interests me. I've never minded age-gaps and mentor/apprentice and partner ships are my weak spot. I might have to check this movie out for the ship alone.

Fantastic video as always!! Could you make a video on Beecher and Keller from Oz? It's an HBO show that ran from 1997-2002, set in a prison. Super complicated, interesting couple, so reasons to and not to ship are both very full and varied. Also, still an active, vibrant fandom despite the relatively lesser-known status of the show. If you don't want to watch/analyze this dark a show, I respect and understand that, but this is a pairing that is ripe for analysis. Thanks! Love your channel.

imo age gaps are only an issue when the younger is not legal in your country, which is the big problem since the age of consent is different throughout the world.

Personally not into this ship. I personally prefer a father figure mentuor Brotp relationship between these too. But I respect the angle people see in this ship. Just not for me because the age gap is so big. Like he saw eggsy when he was a tiny baby child. Ehhh just not for me but props to anyone who dose ship it.

My reason for being slightly squicked by this pairing is because Lee Unwin, Eggsy's dad, was also Harry's student--the same one whose death Harry felt responsible for. What was Harry's relationship with Lee like? Also there was an age gape between Harry and Lee as well. My favorite ship in Kingsman is Percilot--Percival and James Lancelot. It has a small following even though the characters did not interact.

I have no problem with a couple with an age gap as long as both parties are above the age of consent. But honestly I was never a fan of a romantic relationship between a student and a mentor/teacher no matter the age of both of both parties because of the fact that there will always be a power imbalance in favor of the mentor/teacher. But that is my personal opinion about the matter and I am not going to going to try to force people to see things the same way as I do because ship kinks exist and have a huge variety. I haven't see Kingsman yet, but I want to because this really reminds me of the Kick-Ass movies which I enjoy quite a bit, I just never get along to doing it. I will try to find the time to do it when I can.
