Morning Tony, that looks great, its amazing the difference taking the time to paint edges makes to a kit. You say it's not that quick to do ,but Tony for you that was a very quick build. That building looks great in place and its a really good idea to get some relief into the back scene. Just a little catch up, from me three weeks ago poor Anne was inflicted with something called Bells Palsy. It was a bit scary at the time, we thought she was having a stroke as the symptoms are similar. She's getting there now a lot of the muscle tone is coming back, and she's not slurring so much. So trying to get back to our normal busy self's. Alfie has made me put up lights around the train shed. So last Friday me and him were out there after school. He's very pleased. Take care both speak soon. Xxxx

I'm a great fan of Kingsway kits and have this same building on my layout. I chose it mainly because the real building can be seen in the town I was born in. I added the two flanking buildings and this brings the total width of the building up to 53cm making it a great space filler. As a bonus you get a good selection of additional shop names.

Hi Tony. Enjoyable video to end a hectic week of medical procedures and to set me up for next weeks. You can get a great 3D effect layering different surfaces on back scenes. You can get a matte UV spray such as Krylon UV-Resistant Clear Coating to prevent artwork for fading. Oh, and it is ‘à la mode’, which in French means “in the current fashion”. So not exactly your Burton's. 😂 I’ll try and send you the blocks and chocs next week, my friend. Hi to Mrs T. Best, Jason.

Good morning Tony my friend what a great video again I do like the choices you can get from kingsway kits but I think metcalfe are just that bit better I don't like supperquick at all. But the best kit i have on my layout is the one from Tony's N.E Refabrication. Nice to see the trolley bus in service. Well stay safe and keep warm.

Hello Stephen, its great to hear from you again. i hope all is well. I kinda agree with you. Metcalfe have quality. but i think Kingsway have more of what i would call the 3D approach to their kits. Supperquick i have used them in the past but covered them in Melcafe sheets for a better result. I am very pleased with the bus, and you can imagine back in the day there were more buses about than cars until the mid 1950s. take care buddy. all the best Tony.

Hi mate, I have to say I think that for all the fiddling around, it is a pretty decent kit. It certainly seem to look realistic enough 🤓 And the enhancements only make it better 👍 But I think you need to polish up on the old French mate: it’s à la mode, which just means ‘in fashion’ 😅 I can’t believe I saw. ‘VG Store’ sign BTW! Not seen one of those in years, reminds me of when I was at school in Yorkshire as a kid 😎 Cheers matey, have a great weekend 👍🍻🍀

Hello Tony. Like you I have a large tray of Humberol pots of enamel paints. But recently I have been using watercolours with a drip of PVA also using Acrylics too. Mixed result so far but worth looking in to Sir. Regards Al :o)
@TONYNORTHEASTERN
@TONYNORTHEASTERN 7 ай бұрын
Hello Alan, it does pay to experiment with paints, even the greatest artists in the world did the same. but only use very small amounts of PVA in acrylics, as PVA does harden paints. but if PVA is diluted first then that make the paints more pliable with less chance of cracking once the paint is dry. thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now Tony.

Dear Tony, interesting kit build! Love your ‘edits’ of scribing the sandstone mortar lines, truly makes a difference when painted. As you’ve started off with the 6mm I understood the choice of the shop pictures. However, as you were putting those 10mm side walls, I must be honest that I thought it would be interesting to enhance the look of the shops, by making them too flat relief. Humbly think it will assist the creation of the illusion of depth around the Yarrow Road station. Of course, it’s just a thought, no worries. Such low relief, flat relief and a combination with the already existing background flats may certainly have a positive and significant impact on the New Hassle background. Same for the brewery corner, Little Haven under the arches! Greetings and cheerio

Hi Tony, what a cracking kit that is and what a lovely job you’ve made of it. Don’t tell me about cutting out windows! I cut out 48 arched windows for my warehouse back scene, I’m only just getting the feelings back in my fore finger where I pressed on the knife for so long! I’ve had my eye on a couple of those Kingsway kits for sometime as they make some in N Gauge too. Looking forward to seeing it go into Jarrow Road. Cheers mate, John

Hello John. That's the joys of building Card kits. Numb fingers as long as i can still lift a pint after a good card build. that's all that counts my friend. A new scapple blade should last a couple of builds. i do get get through a frae few. I do have to scratch build a warehouse for south shields at some point. Kings way have a great collection to choose more than Metcalfe. the down side is the windows. as kingsway don't do glazing. take care all the best Tony.

I think I got through about 6 or 7 scalpel blades doing the warehouses and yes a beer or two sure helps! No I noticed that with the Kingsway models, I might see if i can get some windows to fit and cut out the Kingsway ones’s. By the way I meant to say, I spray my models with Halfords clear lacquer, it helps with the fading apparently. John

Hi Tony. Not sure if you're familiar with Chandwell, built almost entirely with cardboard and printed paper in N gauge, by Michael. I won't bore you with the details, but he paints his buildings with ultra matt varnish and they are tough as old boots. Not saying it will stand up to the searing white heat of a north east summer, but maybe worth a go! Cheers

Hi Tony, that is a nice looking kit and a change! Know how it is with the windows, done an evening on that alone on some kits. Yes the edges take time, but makes such a difference. I use acrylics, easy to mix, apply and remove; can’t get Humbrol out here or import... For the windows how about some simple flat shapes to represent desks/ furniture/ storage shelves done purely to outline their presence and kept dull in colour - no detail. Set back 3 or 4mm (same depth technique as Metcalfe curtains). Might that be a compromise between the usual 3d models and nothing at the windows? Take care, Stephen
@TONYNORTHEASTERN
@TONYNORTHEASTERN 7 ай бұрын
Hi Stephen. Acrylics would have the same effect. these kits with the windows not being see through are not worth the effort of trying to put detail inside. but if i had made to on a main street. then i would have made clear windows to add some details. thanks again for commenting my friend. stay safe. all the best Tony & Laura.
