There are authentic people to interview today too, However, the pressure of commercial media production to generate ratings and revenue forces a faster, choppier pace. The best places to find a longer format is public televion/radio and also various podcasts like Marc Maron's.

I agree with your statement... remember that while I also go on to disagree/make a counterpoint. Movies also are stories. Can't some of the movies you're referring to just be about a story being told? Surely there are plenty that fall into the category you described... as well as the one I mentioned. I'm not offended by any film that wants to tell a story. Whether it's about white, black, blue, green, male, female, trans, human, alien, animal...etc. Plus, I'm not ashamed to walk out of a movie and ask for my money back. I don't understand people who say: "Well, that was a waste of two hours" Unless their girlfriend made them sit through it with them. Within 20 min, I know whether I'm going to enjoy the rest of the film or not.

Mr. Kirk Douglas is spot on in his view of learning the world around us and above all contributing to make the world a better place for having lived however great or small the contribution. Too many live in their own little monastery, thinking they can "divorce" from the world. Not a good legacy.

The truly unique, charismatic and gifted actor, producer, director, philanthropist and writer Kirk Douglas. My all-time favorite actor; I've loved and respected this man more than any other, since being in the first movie I've ever seen as a child. Despite his remarkable longevity to 103, supreme talent, intelligence combined with graceful humbleness for someone of his legendary status, he will also live forever in everyone who cherished him. RIP with much love Kirk...would've given anything to meet you personally to say so.❤️️🌟

This is what a Hollywood star looks like.his presence, his charisma, his ability to captivate an audience.some of todays "stars" are nicking a living compared to true greats like kirk.tom cruise, brad pitt, tom hanks are cut from the same cloth but a lot of todays actors are lucky shall we say to be box office stars when previous talent was so much greater and stronger.

It's 2019 and Mr. Douglas's remarks are from one of the most common sensisicle persons I have ever heard. Just like James Cagney, who commented on his life time achievement as being just a job. Kirk Douglas has his feet on reality. Pretty inspiring for this retired carpenter.

One of the last of the glamorous Hollywood. So awesome he’s still around, how much he’s seen of history, film, awesome 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 he always seemed down to earth, you can see it in his son too. They seem like you could just say hey if you saw them on the street. I miss the humbleness of celebrities...
