We found the 'COTTAGE' OF OUR DREAMS in the English Countryside// Hello everyone, Jörg and I were so lucky to spend 3 nights at the stunning Gate House at the Wolterton Park Estate in North Norfolk. This charming Georgian cottage as it is called would be our ultimate dream home. It has the most beautiful Georgian features, the perfect size and a stunning cottage garden. It's like a country house in cottage form and we fell for it head over heels! If you like beautiful places like this for a romantic getaway, we can really recommend it! Hope you enjoy the video! Just an addition: The Gate House is called Georgian cottage as you will find it on the Wolterton Hall website so it's not our invention or anything. It's why we use the term. We have lived for 7 1/2 years in the UK and have come across huge houses that are called cottages. We thought we would mention it in the comments so we don't have to reply to the individual comments. Thanks for understanding.

In comparison, size-wise to the main house, this is probably viewed from their perspective as a cottage.

Oh of course! Alot of enormous castles are called "summer houses" in GB, even though they dwarf any decent sized French Chateau. The English have alwaus been fumny that way. I guess the word cottage denotes it was actually built as a permanent dwelling, perhaps for the caretaker originally. As opposed to pavillions, or (hunting) lodges etc. I just wouldn't think of it as a cottage, and "cottage core" culture and stylings would look very out of place in this hoise with all it's stately architectural features. Nice to see the pwners didn't impose twee prints and florals everywhere and were sensitive to the original addimg some modernity that will remain tasteful in the long haul.

Kristen I look forward to everything you post. I’m an illustrator and former high end custom frame shop owner in New York State USA Now retired. I don’t travel much and often have cabin fever. Your videos satiate my love of specialty shopping/ treasure hunting, love of discovering small towns/ villages, good food, art/decorative arts and architecture. The cottage above beyond charming. I’m sure you dream of redoing every room in your style before drifting off to sleep. I’d move into that magical space in a New York minute. Adore. Thank you for sharing. Not sure where in NY you are, but if you are near the Catskills, do go to Hobart NY. The Bull and Garland is a wonderful English Pub and B&B. The whole town is full of niche used bookstores and there is the Sheep’s Nest gift shop down the road. 🥰

That is the cottage of my dreams, too, it’s perfect! I love Georgian architecture, called Neoclassical here if in the US, but no one ever did it better than the English! My dream home would be something like a modest Georgian vicarage, with, say, four bedrooms. Nothing huge, but bigger than the little cottage I live in now. Georgian design and high ceilings are the must-haves. How dignified this little house looks, the front columns give it a stately feeling.

The person(s) who build this fine place, and the situation on the corner, knew what they were doing. I must agree, it is a perfect situation. The large, but warm featured bathrooms are nice for staying in a bit, and relaxing all the way to the desk. No rushing out of the bathroom for me. This was a classic video....marvelous indeed. Thank you for sharing such wonderful places with us. I loved every bit of that cottage, but if I could change one thing, it would be the kitchen. It seemed even smaller than the upstairs bathroom! The size of the garden was perfect and the serenity of being adjacent to the field with lambs made it that much more like a fairy garden. Just stunning. Thank you again, and please keep telling us the names of paint colors and fabrics because I really love knowing that as well❤

You two are quite literally living my dream! This house is absolute perfect, I wouldn't mind spending 3 nights (well, even 3 years) in there! I’m so glad that you made it to North Norfolk at last! We stayed at Wolterton Hall a few years ago and now live just 5 miles away. Wolterton Hall and its grounds are beautiful and have been wonderfully restored by the current owners. They have impeccable and sympathetic taste and that really shows in your holiday cottage. Can’t wait for the next video! X

Hello Kirsten,I love this house .Georgian is my favourite style too and I love the stripy sofa it looks so comfortable.Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have Christmas in that gorgeous room with the lovely fire .I can imagine a beautiful tre in there the fire on and snowing outside.The garden is pretty too.Thank you for sharing this it was lovely xx

I am Australian and feel such a strong pull to the UK but to Devon is particular. I have dreams where I finally get to feel the soil of Devon in my hands. Our family are descended from the Plantagenets who ruled Britain for hundreds of years, and we are related to the current Earl of Devon. There is such a soul attachment for me to a place that I have never visited. I’m hoping to visit next year if my health improves as I have to feel that soil before I die. This Georgian house is absolutely stunning and would be my dream home. Thank you so much.

So ein schönes Haus! Ich bekomme Lust auf Farbe und habe Lust, mal wieder zu streichen! :) Mir gefällt gerade, dass die antiken und modernen Elemente ineinanderfließen, sie ergänzen sich wunderbar. Die Gestaltung ist noch immer schlicht, was ich sehr sehr schön finde. Das ist ein sehr inspirierendes Video. So schön, was ihr beide alles gemeinsam erlebt.

WOW! Now this cottage is one of my all time favorite places you have stayed! Magical! I nearly cried at how wonderful it would be to own such a lovely home and property. The decor is perfect, cozy, nicely sized rooms, modern with an old world feel, breathtaking views, a sense of quietude and serenity. I would live so very happily in such a gorgeous home. I would, however, put in a nice audio system so I could listen to my music and of course, some way I could still watch all your videos ! I did wonder what type of heating system it had? ...Central heating/cooling would be a gift! Thank you for showing me this absolutely stunning cottage.....🐞🌺🏫 I go now to cry....boo hooo....lol

As soon as I heard you say the garden was similar to your garden in germany, I thought you must really like it at this house and wondered if there was a possibility of you moving. Then I heard you both say how much you liked it at the end of your video. It would be lovely for your viewers if you and joerg moved into a home like that and redid it. 😊

What a beautiful dwelling. I love symmetry, high ceilings, tall windows, classic Georgian style. Only thing I would change is to have more ivory and white walls rather than grey tones. I do like the blues, new lime, and even the Haymarket upstairs. Love it! 💗

why are Germans so in love with WHITE walls I wonder ... in Germany one sees almost nothing but. maybe coloured paint is too expensive...

What an utterly enchanting cottage/home❣️ I do so LOVE Georgian Architecture...and this is a CHARMER!! The symmetry is so appealing to me. The fireplace in the second sitting room just so captured my heart with it's mini-gothic arches.I am totally smitten with this mini-Georgion cottage. Thank you Kirsten for being so detail oriented: from paints, wallpaper, fabrics, furniture styles, art work, brand of kitchen ranges...you do your homework and I so appreciate those details. I am tucking in now at nearly 2 am in the morning after watching this video. Safe travels and God bless Kirsten and Joerg.

What a perfect jewel of a house Kirsten and Joerg. I love the delft tiled fireplace in the bedroom, but that’s no surprise being Dutch lol. I’d love to see a floor plan of the layout, the rooms are so elegant, so typically Georgian. It’s actually quite a substantial gate house as they were usually quite humble inside, though with a grand exterior impression. Ineke.

This is a lovely home and has such a peaceful feeling to it....warm, welcoming but not overpowering in size. I must add that your home in Chesire has that same wonderful feeling that I believe is emitting from the occupants! BLESS YOU BOTH 😊

Liebe Kirsten, lieber Jörg, bei jedem Video, in dem ihr in einem schönem Haus übernachtet, denke ich, das ist nicht mehr zu toppen, aber es ist möglich 😊. Ein wunderschönes Haus, es würde tatsächlich perfekt zu euch passen. Ich bin immer wieder dankbar, dass ich euren Kanal gefunden habe, und so visuell mit euch reisen darf. Rather a Georgian House but with the cosyness of a cottage. I love the symmetry of the house as well as the size of the bathrooms. Very beautiful house with all its lovely details. A real gemstone perfectly set on scene from you once again 💕

That's more like it, it's the Gate House. Hence considered a cottage bc it belongs to a larger estate.

Love watching all your videos I wanted to visit Germany when my husband retired but became disabled. My husband was stationed at Rein mine Airforce base in the early 70s and wanted to show me the country . Thank you for such a lovely tour. What a gorgeous cottage and I love each detail. I especially love the wall colors--I'm always drawn to green so Mylands 'New Lime,' was my favorite but the blues were a close second. Thank you for mentioning the colors and makers/names of the paints, fabrics, etc., used throughout the house. I think it is the cottage of my dreams, too.
