Thank you. You say some very important things. I hope the readers will watch several times. If you modulate values with different colors, then you jump into cezanne, van gogh, matisse.

I was amazed at the color swatches! The colors were not what I would have chosen upon first glance. Every color relies on the color next to it. My eyes deceive me!! Great tool.

I feel attack lol.... This is me! I never start any project because I worry to much about having the exact color. Thank you for the tips!!!

Haha don't feel attacked! I was the exact same way... in fact, I only used graphite and charcoal for years when I first started and told people that colour just wasn't "my style"... but the truth is, I wasn't sure how to use it and was too scared to start! So I hope the tips/advice helps anyone who is feeling a similar way :)

What a magnificent bird. You know our fears very well, all so correct lol. The swatches around the drawing, was a fantastic help, just goes to show, what is and what one thinks. I liked that a lot. You are amazing in telling us all there is to know that may help us, so thouragh! You are a great instructor as well as a fantastic artist, I am so drawn to your works of art, everything "fits"💕

I think the issue of colour is why it's also good for an artist to start out with a limited colour selection, because then you have to mix colours to acheive the results that you need. It's more challenging for sure and there are some things that I avoid because I know that I simply don't have the right colour range, but I can get away with most things it seems. Having too many colours would make it hard to get depth in the colour because I might find a pencil in the exact colour that I need which would mean less layering and no colour mixing so it could end up a bit flat.

Yes good point! I probably should have included that in this video actually 🤔 because I totally agree!

@@KirstyRebeccaFineArt Something for future videos :) It's something I'm realising as I'm building up my skill. I'm scared if I buy say the 120 Polychromos will I layer less and achieve less depth.

I guess I've always layered colours anyway, no matter how many pencils I have because I always see so many different colour shifts/variations that I'm never using the same colour over a huge area by itself anyway... If that makes sense? I'm always using multiple colours so I love having big sets to choose from But I know other people get overwhelmed and need to have less colours to start with and really learn what colours mix well together/layer well/look good together/less options to choose from etc which is totally understandable 😊

@@KirstyRebeccaFineArt Yes, I've always been someone who layered. Certainly not as much as I do now but I never really used just one colour for an area except for when I was brand new to coloured pencils. I certainly look forward to eventually having more colours to choose from :)
