Kisumu City is hosting Africities summit. kisumu is the 3rd largest town in Kenya located on the shores of Lake Victoria. Kisumu is a Kenyan port city on Lake Victoria. It’s known for lakeside viewpoints at Dunga Hill Camp and Hippo Point. The Kisumu Impala Sanctuary shelters herds of impalas and zebras. This is so true. We are slum dwellers, staying in slums doing nothing while we leave our fertile lands wasting away. For those who make it out of the slums, they'd rather go buy 50*100 than go build in their hometowns. Our people must change their minds. We can easily feed this country and make our cities great.

If I was a policy maker, I would emphasize rural support so that life in the rural areas can be both self-sustaining with education and health care options as well as options to make some cash and saving it which is so important in the modern world. I love the example of the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh which is NOT like your regular bank.

I love your passion for your home city. This is a beautiful city. And I agree with you. Luos must develop your home town. I m Zambian but in spite of the fact that Luos have some of the best brains in Kenya, they have been marginalised. No wonder the political misunderstandings in the country. Well done Governor Anyang for your work in kisumu.

Hard whips. I agree with you. Two if my friends moved from Nairobi to Kisumu last year. Am next. We actually thought about it and realized that Kisumu is much better than Nairobi; peaceful, clean, affordable, accommodative.

Spoken like an elder Dennis... Kisumu will be built by Kisumu people investing in Kisumu. The lake is a big untapped low hanging fruit, if unlocked, will spur a lot of development. Very true, Kenyans need to stop building Nairobi and learn about their country... You find someone thinking that Marsabit is a desert, Garissa is uninhabitable or North Kenya as a whole is a desert.... Very false, imagine if all the small scale mining is relocated to these places and we start building towns, we would literally crush Nairobi real estate Boom the good way...

Kisumu is still better than Shithole Eldoret and those Mt. Kenya dilapidated hell holes. Luos, Luhyas and Kisiis should seriously invest in Kisumu. Kisumu can beat Nairobi & Mombasa

You know the real investors in Mombasa are Indians n Arabs n some Kikuyus...perhaps Somalis too....I ask one coastarian to show me one Mijikenda billionaire couldn't mention any...bt he was really going in on Luos....one thing I realized some people from other parts 0f Kenya never want to hear anything good or development that goes on in Luo nyanza ...they don't even know there are resorts,real estate,hotels,supermarkets etc...they have that belief Luo nyanza is poor even if you show them something beautiful in Luo nyanza they still want to stick to their beliefs however you'll never hear any Luo dying of hunger.

Kazi ni nyinyi kutengeneza. Use that money you invest in Nairobi to Build Kisumu. You have many millionaires like kidero and others building apartments all over Nairobi yet Kisumu has a housing demand. There is another Luo in Diaspora with a Massive Restaurant in the US & UK called Swahili restaurant, he needs to also extend his investments to Kisumu. That's where it really counts. Lake Dental Clinic the biggest dental hospital in Nairobi owned by a Luo also needs to build its base in Kisumu. Kisumu is where the power to our success is.

Witch craft and witch hunt is very rampant in western kenya and nyanza 🧙 And obviously luos and luhyas know this too well therefore wouldn’t want to take the risk! I’m from central kenya but have heard several stories from my luo friends about this vice! It’s such a shame really!

Nop every tribe lives in slums even the kikuyus kambas somalis even maasai .....luos are like the loudest people so its easy to notice them but all people live in slums .....then Kisumu interms of built up areas is better than everywhere in kenya if you remove Mombasa and Nairobi but apart from those two no place in kenya is built like Kisumu..,..kisi even beats Thika in development bana do your research...... central has this adverntage cause its near Nairobi nyanza still beats them in development

100% correct, proximity to Nairobi, decades of centralized leadership and being 'right' politically has helped central leapfrog ahead, but Nairobi/Central is actually poor, geographically.
