Kisumu serves as the capital city of Kisumu County, Kenya and has a population of 397,957 as per the Kenyan 2019 census.(The rural population of Kisumu County was 714,668 during the same census,indicating that the city comprises the majority of the urban residents in the county, whose total population was 1,155,574) Kisumu is the immediate former capital of Nyanza Province, the headquarters of Kisumu County an important link in the trade route between Lake Victoria and Mombasa because of its water and rail connections. It is also the chief terminus for the agricultural produce of Nyanza and Western provinces. It is the largest and most important city in Western Kenya. Kisumu serves as a trading and transportation hub for the Great Lakes region in western Kenya. Kisumu International Airport has regular flights to Nairobi and other neighboring cities such as Mombasa. There are plans for flights to Mwanza Kigali, Kampala, Dar es salaam, and Juba but they have yet to materialize. It is the second-most important city after Kampala in the greater Lake Victoria Basin although Mwanza has overtaken it in population size. According to the United Nations, is now recognized as a key city and a "Millennium City" - the first of its kind in the world and also in East Africa.

From 2013 to 2017 Nakuru was the cleanest I don't know what happened to Nakuru.Anyang Nyong'o is doing great for kisumu,I hope the next governor for kisumu will maintain this cleanliness

Nice of you to visit Kisumu! Most vloggers only do Nairobi and if they do anything else it's Mombasa. I was born and raised in Nairobi but both my parents are from Kisumu. I love both cities. So many other places you could visit in Kenya. Enjoy your stay...

Well Urban planning of Kisumu City has done an amazing job, I think the reason why kisumu is clean is because county government offices and public offices have been developed outside the town center or CBD hence making people not to have a reason of going to the CBD. Nonetheless we have like shopping centers and hospitals scattered across in the neighborhood unlike in one central area.

am also currently in kisumu bro. though my hometown is kericho. we came to kisumu for a workshop/seminar at Tom Mboya Labour College. Its a very cool, top notch👌🏾 college, i wish you would pay it a visit and see how it has been pimped and refurbished, its right in the leafy estate of milimani where the rich hide..

Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang Nyongo has backgrounds in Political Economy and Urban/Rural economics or planning and was once a planning minister in Kenya .

Prof Peter Nyongo together with his Late Elder Brother Pathologist Prof Aggrey Omondi Nyongo they were top students at Kenya's Premier Alliance High School . Prof Peter Anyang Nyongo would top his class at Makerere University where he was Guild president and at University of Chicago where he completed his MA, Phd in Political Science . He has taught at University of Chicago(President Obama also taught at University of Chicago and his Wife Michelle Obama was Administrator also at same university) . Prof Anyang Nyongo also taught in Mexico where he was exiled by the Dictatorship of Daniel Moi of Kenya . He also taught at University of Nairobi and University of Addis Ababa .

Kisumu Kenya was the capital of Eastern Uganda under British East Africa .The city is cosmopolitan and has been occupied by pre-dominant Nilotic Luo groups for at least 500 years .

As of 2019 at least 250,000 visitors from US travelled to Kenya and at least 40,000 from US live in Kenya permanently with Kisumu, Nairobi and Mombasa being preferred destinations . These include different investors such as tech investors, manufacturing etc . US is Kenya's largest trading partner followed by Uganda .

😅 #Kisumu, Kenya: The traffic situation appears highly disorderly. There are no clear traffic controls or designated bike lanes and People and cars together on the streets unsafe uncivilized, resulting in complete chaos. Bragging about cleanliness is irrelevant when safety is compromised. Cleanliness should be ingrained as a way of life, not flaunted. From what I see, it's unsafe for both drivers and pedestrians in that area.

I am sure that prior to your travel, when you heard people referring to Nigeria as a zoo, you would fume. Have you now seen how human beings live and behave? Have you seen why we advocate for Biafra where we can be able to organise ourselves and live organised life? Nigeria mentality is still dealing with you, that’s why you are still seeing yourself as a Nigerian.
