It always amazes me that when Gordon finds old or contaminated food and asks why it's still there instead of being thrown out, the answer is either "we're not serving that to people" or "that's for my personal use". Which is either an outright lie or an admission that they eat or use bad food at home, in which case I don't want them in a kitchen anymore.

places that do this probably dont have any kind of effective inventory management system in place, just a basic spreadsheet of arrival dates and expiry dates would sort this shit out fast but no, too much work. Then you end up with a box of raw chicken just sitting there for 3 weeks because nobody cares. You can see these places dont bother to even take the produce out and put it in well labeled containers

A proper fridge requires an inventory system, staff who give a shit, and proper dating and rotation. It requires so much upkeep that when the staff don’t care, it’s the one of the first things to go bad.

And that’s why Gordon is loved by so many. Gordon isn’t the best chef despite being well known, and he knows that. He is so humble when he’s in another great chefs kitchen or trying to learn a new cuisine. If you ever watch is travel shows it’s so nice seeing Gordon being humble and showing humility!
