Chou is definitely a miracle boy. I’m sure the team at UC-Davis learned a lot from his case as did his other vets along the way. Our favorite feline marshmallow is a pioneer for veterinary treatment of cleft palates in kittens. Now he deserves the best fur-ever family in the world. And a book. He definitely needs to be the subject of one of your upcoming books. Enjoy that Churu, Chouchou! You waited a long time to discover that wondrous treat.

Because of Chou Chou, I was able to suggest this surgery to a friend for her dog. The dogs palate is now fixed, and she can eat without any issues. She also carries toys around and plays in ways she couldn’t before. A healthy, happy girl thanks to you and Chou!

As another human cleft palate person, I can relate to ChouChou''s traumatic introduction to life. I spent the first year living on teaspoons of milk (1950's) then had the operation at one year old. I was told that I started to eat at the age of four, when one of my cousins handed me a piece of toast. Swallowing food was a nightmare as I was liable to choke. I had speech problems for years: people thought I was a foreigner. Even so, I was fortunate with the surgeon, as my voice doesn't reveal that I was born with a cleft palate. I am pleased and thankful that ChouChou found you! Please continue with your great work. 💖💖💖

I’ve followed his story from the beginning and I am so happy that he finally made it through! Going from tiny cotton ball to a grown kitty took a long time and effort but it was worth it. I hope the rest of his life is filled with happiness and yummy snacks 💕 Also, what are you thinking of doing in terms of his forever home? I’m curious if you guys or someone along his journey will adopt him. (Edit: btw I’m not suggesting Hannah should foster fail, I was considering Chouchou’s recovery and potential lifelong special needs that could affect their decision like when they kept Ferguson. I know the goal is goodbye, I’ve done rescue as well and not 1 foster fail. Someone along the way in his medical journey might want to adopt him, having an owner with veterinary knowledge would probably be best)

It's so sad that Chouchou's condition and complications after surgery were basically by design because of his breed. He's cute, but I hope cat breeders can start to see it's just not good for cats to be that way. It's pretty amazing what some teamwork and modern science can do. I have to say, I'm still impressed with the simple genius of the bite guard idea with the dental suction tube. So proud of Chouchou and all involved in his care!

My oldest son was born with a cleft palate. It’s been interesting to follow and see the similarities/differences. So glad he’s doing so well.

It's so awesome to see him eating!!! I was definitely worried that after his surgery and when the palate was repaired, he'd have trouble eating on his own, due to the unfamiliarity of it all

This was a beautiful video to watch on a Saturday. 🎉❤😊 He was so lucky to have found you and everyone who allowed him to thrive and live. Seeing him now, he’s right at home.
