Kitten Has A Twisted Leg 🐱 | Bondi Vet Season 7 Ep 7 | Bondi Vet Full Episodes

A 3 day old kitten has been born with a badly twisted leg, this is the youngest kitten Dr Chris Brown has seen at the clinic. The little battler needs a series of splints to try save her leg and give her a second chance. Whilst in Bundaberg Queensland, Tim Faulkner is visiting to witness a rare event, of a Loggerhead Turtle about to lay her eggs. In nests where the eggs have already matured, baby turtles are starting to emerge and make their way down to the water. Eddie the Echidna has been brought into the Bondi referral hospital Sash with a bleeding beak. Dr Lisa Chimes is given the job to find out what is causing his beak to bleed. Meanwhile at the Bondi clinic, Australian Shepard Cliff has been brought to Dr Chris as he has eaten an unknown amount of rat poison. 3 adorable puppies have been found running loose on the side of a busy Sydney road, Lisa needs to try find the owners of the 3 musketeers.

Y'all are the best you inspire maybe one day I want to become a vet what's a every animal but until then I'm just going to stick with saving a few animals I couldn't do it without my dad but one day I will come I know one thing I'm good at it is taking good care of my pets

I wanted to be a vet when I was younger but then realized the death aspect of it was too much for me. Animal death breaks me every time.

I'd reccomend volunteering at a vet clinic before you go for it. I never thought I could do it then I felt the feeling of helping them fight like hell to live and it outweighs the weakness I thought I had and thought would destroy me and held me back from my dreams. Yes death is a part of it but the feeling from helping the ones who live pull you through. It's hard work too but I am lucky to be able to be a part of the process!

I found a 2 day old kitten at the horse stables where I ride, and he was too weak to even move. The kitten was attacked by rats. They bit his ears, tail and paws. He also had bite marks on his face and back. I took him to two different vets that both said that unless I want to put him down, they can do nothing else. So I bought kitten formula, and went home. I cleaned his wounds and fed him. The next day, there was a definite improvement in his energy level and he became very vocal. It really was worth it. All that effort payed off, and Loki got to live the life of a survivor. ✊ I just wanted to share this story with everyone. People who want to put animals down just because they are hurt or different, it makes me very sad and angry. Every life deserves to be lived. ❤️

Me too. There was a dying kitten outside my apartment complex. It had walking dandruff and cat mites and was covered in crust. She was so dehydrated she didn't pee for 2 days. I hand fed her formula and I took care of the walking dandruff and the other mites. She literally slept for a month, but she ate and drank water. I watched her closely. Now she is 100% and I ended up keeping her. I named her Tynee. She is the sweetest little thing.

I was horrified when I heard that vets had suggested putting that sweet baby down. At the absolute worst a can can survive with 3 legs and it could have been removed when she was older. Im so happy it didn't come to that but it never ceases to amaze me how many people want to put an animal down when it's not "perfect". Good on her owner for saying "no" to those vets!!!

maybe she is a breeder and would want to sell the kittens? Why, with an overpopulation of cats would she let the Cat have kittens. Also, vets are just like human dr.s they are businessmen and most, not all but most think only in terms of payment. Vets and Dr.s are not always nice. See the female vet that shot a feral cat with a bow and arrow, right here in Texas. Yes, vets and dr are just human beings and can be the worst of people.

Exactly. I had two brother kittens whose mom started eating their damaged feet. The owner gave them to me and I took them to the vet to be amputated. They were only 30 hrs old but they were just fine. And I hand reared them. They were my babies.

The owner didn't say why those vets recommended euthanasia (I don't think she did). Like Dr Chris said, when one deformity is found, there can be other more serious deformities that can make quality of life very painful for an animal. Sometimes with no hope of getting better. I may have expanded on his explanation. Fortunately, this was not a genetic deformity.

I had a cat with deformed legs once. He had two sets of paws on each front foot. Though by the time I was born, he had long ago had his extra set removed. Very long lived cat. My grandmother adopted him when my mom was in middle school, and he lived until I was in middle school myself. 22 years!

Two sets of paws on each front foot? Do you mean extra toes? If so, that sounds like your cat was a polydactyl cat. I don't think it usually causes them any problems, unless something like one claw snags on a lot of things. Otherwise, extra weapons for the cat😀!

@@cathoderaytube7497 I guess it could change the way they walk, which may or may not cause arthritis and the surgery is fairly safe if done young. Kittens heal super fast and that small time of pain is better than the potential for years of arthritis. I don't know though. I'm glad I've never had one because I would've had no clue what to do with it.

I foster kittens and my dog always thinks shes their mom. So wen she hear any kitten cry she tries to find it and make sure it's ok so even time the kitten cried in the video she went looking for "her babies" it's the cutest thing ever. And my dog isnt a small dog she weighs over 150 lbs.

My first cat had a "Newfoundland Nanny"... cat mom was also there, but that lovely old dog just LOVED kittens. He'd carry the kittens around gently in his mouth, and they'd be all slobbery afterwards. That was the state in which we first met my kitten, and while my parents were feeling a bit iffy about the gross factor, two year old me scooped him up and loved him instantly. I still think about how lovely that dog was to kittens.

Tim Faulkner really reminds me of Steve Irwin in many ways, his drive and passion for animals are much the same and his mannerisms too like the way he talks. I loved Steve Irwin cried so bad when he died His son Robert is so much like him.

I never got over Steve's death, I sill think about him and the tragic way he died. Poor Terri, she lost her soul mate and her best friend. She raised her 2 children, Bindi and Robert on her own. She did a wonderful job, two amazing young people.

I agree, Tim could easily be in the same gene pool as Steve Irwin! I think Tim is a neat guy. He has so much enthusiasm for what he does! Maybe Tim Faulkner needs his own show now!! I'd sure watch it!!

I know this might sound a bit Odd, but I was born like the Kitten. I had been ‘Crossed Legged’ in the Womb and I came out with Severe “Pigeon Toed”, where my feet just Overlapped each other. So, they sewed all the heels of my pajamas together & when I was old enough for Shoes, the Drs put a Metal Bar in the front of them. Keep in mind, this was WAY BACK In ‘65. I still feel most comfortable with my feet Overlapping when lying down, but I can Walk Fairly Normal.

When I first started walking as a tot/baby, I was severely duck footed (opposite of you)- toed pointed out and heels in. I spent quite a bit of time in shoes and braces with a bar in the middle like you to.make my feet point the right way. This was in the late 80s-early90s. To this day though, I still tend to walk with my toes out more than I should.

I was pigeon toed too. My parents paid $20. for shoes for me (in 1955). It was wonderful to have such self sacrificing parents. I miss them both.

I just saw on KZfaq that because of the coronavirus animals are roaming all over where they’ve never been before. On one island loggerhead turtles laid eggs for the first time because there were no people around to scare them off. Pretty cool!

I think Amari is a perfect name for this precious little kitten. The name means "Strength". She's going to need to be very strong to overcome this injury since she's so little.

The cat lady should take Amari back to the vets who recommended putting her down ....... and then explain at length the therapy applied to give the kitten 4 fully functional feet and legs. If the other vets are the right kind of medical professionals, they will accept the object lesson graciously and be better clinicians in the future.

I have to admit, for me, 'gators are cuter when they're young. My mom's best friend, "Aunt" Winnie, had a pet alligator which lived under her parents' sofa, and nipped peoples' ankles from under there. It "disappeared" when she went to college. This was a long, long time ago; Mom was born in 1929, and a lot of things were different back then. I'm glad you can no longer go looking for a pet, and come back with a baby alligator in a cigar box.

Right? That reverse turn is pretty intense, but sometimes at this early age they can even gently massage the bent limb every day to help straighten it up. I figure they were probably being a little dramatic for tv, but I do hope no other vets told the woman to put the kitten down. It really can be such a minor issue. EDIT: Aaaand that's exactly what they did, that's what I get for commenting 2 minutes in, lol.

If she's a breeder, then a lot of professional breeders immediately put down "undesirable" babies due to them costing more than the breeder deems "worth" or unlikely to be sold. What is deemed "undesirable" could be deformities to the animal's coat color... That's one of the main reasons to never purchase an animal...

I work for a no-kill shelter and we rarely see kittens with deformities or serious issues but whenever we do, we have to consider the animal's quality of life and adoptability. I'm sure the other vets were thinking similarly. If she had more than just deformed muscles then(along with thousands of dollars the owner would have to spend trying to repair her issues) she'd likely be in pain and wouldn't be able to play, move, and grow properly- thank god Chris took the time to examine her and realized there was hope for the little one!

@@kaceywiley3755 You could always just amputate... I have a 3 legged cat missing a back leg, and the dude is living and awesome life. He can walk, run, climb... He was born without half a leg and had it amputated as a kitten. I'm pretty sure this bit was added as drama.

I wish we had such excellent Vets here in the USA. Where they make house calls. And deliver patients back to their owner’s when the owner cannot return to the Vet’s office to pick up their pets. As well as a Veterinarian hospital that tries so hard to find the owner’s of the little puppies.. And calls the ASPCA to help find new owners too..This is extraordinarily wonderful..

It's so upsetting that people (vets no less) wanted to put down a perfectly healthy kitten other than just needed some physical therapy without even giving it a quarter of a chance. Just love, people. Thank yall for saving amari!

I've seen a kitten with soft tissue damage and they splinted it as well. It worked and the kitten made a full recovery. I think it's awesome that Dr. Chris did the same with this baby kitten. Glad the owner didn't give up on that baby.

@@elizabethh.9556 You have literally no proof of that. Maybe instead of judging and spreading possible lies you just don't say anything at all. It's just disgusting that you automatically assume she's a breeder. And second if she is a breeder(which you have no proof she is or isn't) you also have no proof she's a backyard breeder or anything bad. Plenty of breeders are respectful and breed for the good of the breed, they have health checks, etc and the animals are well taken care of.

Celebrate that the kitten with the wonky leg survived and overcame the handicapped leg with support, creativity, dedication, and love! Good on you all! Ignore the nihilistic comments that she should have had the leg removed and the vets who were willing to just euthanize (kill) her because she wasn't perfect. Time for those vets to pack it in and get out of the business. I'm glad and grateful that there are so many kind, creative, compassionate, and hopeful people in this world!

So kittens’ eyes don’t open at 3 days unless there’s a very very bad eye infection forcing the eye open. These friggin adorable babies have to be around 7 days old. But geez mama and babies are gorgeous!!

no no. Kittens eyes will open when ready. some will have been late delivery babies so they open in three days other will be on time and open in one week.

Suzanne Where are you getting your facts? I have been raising neonatals for 15 years and 98% of the time their eyes beging to open between 7 and 10 days. Her ears are almost completely open as well, which happens around the 7-8 day mark. The pink pigmentation around her muzzle and paws is going away, which happens around the 7-8 day mark, and like others have said, she doesn’t have the umbilical cord or stump which typically falls off around the 4 day mark.

Some breeds open their eyes sooner than others. These kittens were Tonkinese, which is a breed of itself, a cross between Siamese and Burmese cats. Siamese kittens open their eyes as soon as 2 days after birth, as well as Sphynx kittens. Burmese open theirs early as well. They are precocious and active breeds; very intelligent as well. Having a deformed leg is not a reason to put down a kitten. Nowadays, there are many ways to ensure that special needs pets have a great quality of life.

I've had a kitten with two twisted legs, unfortunately he died, but one of his siblings had the same problem but survived. His legs eventually untwisted by themselves.

I love this show so much it also has helped with one of my dogs in the last, if it was not for this channel I would have not told my mom about a lump I found on my dog turns out my dog had cancer (skin cancer) and needed two surgeries so thank you

To spend the money on chipping your pet then to either not update it or let them out purposely when those tiny dogs have no real hope of being able to live in the "wild" - is crazy. And cruel! I mean - Australia! Where there is something to eat, kill, or paralyze you around every corner! Amazing work on that beautiful kitten's leg! And always fabulous: loggerheads!

Im in tears when there is a lot of improvement on Amari’s leg. its a good thing that Wendy gave that little kitten a chance to live and was able to find a vet like Dr Chris that is willing to give her a shot.

When I was under 10 my cousins were visiting and we went to run outback. I was last going out and shut a kitten in the door. I didn't mean to and felt horrible. The kitten darted out behind us and got it's leg broken. I thought I broke her neck. I wanted to die thinking I had killed this baby. She was taken to the vet and got a cast put on. Physically she was fine after it came off but she was always a little special after that. She was with us until she passed away, many years later, all because I broke her leg as a kitten.

Loved this episode! I live in the US and watched a loggerhead turtle lay her eggs, across the highway from my mother's home, in Melbourne Beach, FL. A guide from a local turtle group was in the area and moved enough dirt for us to see eggs dropping into the hole. Afterwards, the female was disoriented from house lights along the beach. Four of us struggled to pick her up and turn her around to face the water. Our good deed for the night. LOL I returned for a visit two months later to see the babies hatch and run down the beach. There are so many houses in the area that it's illegal to have lights on on the sea side of a home because it can confuse the babies. It needs to stay dark on the land side so they will be able to head towards the moon and reach the sea.

I love it when vet's actually take time and effort to help any pet in need no matter the circumstances instead of just taking the lazy way out and just opting for euthanasia. Chris thought outside the box for this unique situation and made an awsome brace for the little one. No other vet even wanted to bother trying, so sad. But super glad the kittens owner stepped up and Chris helped give this little one a chance at living a normal life.😊💖🐱

Imari will live just fine if she has to lose that leg. I would not have thought of putting her down for such a thing, at least after finding out it was just that the leg was the only problem.

DO IT...DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if not a vet get into something that you are passionate about. Don't be safe! Applying to VET school is very hard. Very few schools are in the world Especially the states. BUT for the love of all that is good. DO IT!

Go for it, but be prepared! It will be a lot of work and you have to maintain good grades. It’s also a good idea to get some kind of experience in a clinic setting or something of the sort by volunteering. Join clubs related to your interests (for example, a wildlife conservation club) and form a solid relationship with your advisor. It’s a good idea to form a degree plan with your advisor for programs like pre-vet. And most importantly, remember that there are services on campus (for most if not all colleges) that are solely there to support you and assist you as you adapt to college! Good luck~

I have always been unhappy with and suspicious of Vets & M.d.'s who so easily say euthanize or "put down" because it usually means "I don't want to be bothered." This is why I am so happy with 2d & 3d opinions, especially if a committed, caring ❤ & creative professional has a different diagnosis/prognosis that will not create unnecessary misery. Chris is this kind of doctor. He's a smart, dedicated, extremely caring, and cleverly creative professional; he has an open mind and that makes him invaluable for patient care.

I think they added it for dramatic effect because even IF she lied about it's age(which is really weird to suggest she would) Chris isn't stupid, he can tell a kittens age from looking at it

i recently rescued a kitten who was like 7-8 weeks old with a lower lip avulsion , i got to find a foster home for her who would get the surgery done as well since i couldn’t keep her myself, unfortunately she passed after surgery, but it’s good to know that she was loved regardless and is now super healthy in heaven

Dr. Gigachad jury-rigs something in almost every episode. Splints for kittens, anesthesia masks for echidnas, slippers for pelicans, flotation devices for goldfish... It's fun to watch.

Once had this experience with a weeks old kitten, who was dragging a leg. Mommy was a stray I let in to give birth, & I had no money. I made an L shaped splint, to get that leg growing in the right position... & boy did it work! He turned into the most formidable kitten of the bunch! His future mom told me he was hoping around on her 9 ft beams :)...

My Fuzzy cat heard the kitten crying & she got up from being next to me & started looking for it. Fuzzy was spayed years ago but loves other cats & would have made a good Mother except that she is small & pudgy. Fuzzy is very gentle & sweet.

Hearing the vets told her to put that kitten down just because 1 leg is messed up, is horrendous! Wow. What assholes. My grandma has a cat who also came out of the womb with a slightly twisted leg that pops out when she walks and she is otherwise completely fine and a total brat. I can't believe in this modern time there are still people who think an animal should be put down just because there is a problem with 1 leg. Insane. Really extremely angry about hearing that. I'm glad the owner had 10 times more sense than any of those useless vets put together. I hope she never consults one of them again. I'd wish they go out of practice just because thinking about how many animals may have lost their lives unnecessarily due to their rash judgment... it's sickening.

I wanna know what other vets that woman with the kitten talked to o.0 the ones who said to EU. I foster orphan neonates, and all the vets I work with would agree that a leg deformity is absolutely not a death sentence. Heck, even kittens with a strangled leg from the umbilical cord stand a good enough chance to try, and those are worse off than just a deformity since the leg dies and falls off, lots of pain killers and antibiotics needed for strangled legs.

they may have just been assuming it might be a genetic deformity and just assumed from how bad it was that the kitten probably wouldn't live long lazy sounding examination by the sounds of it, even if the kitten lost the leg she'd still be able to survive fairly well
