I remember seeing Judas Priest for the first time as a teenager, and this blonde guitar god standing onstage right in front of me. That was a big factor in me deciding to become a musician myself. None of my bands have made it big, but that doesnt matter - I love being onstage, and I have KK Downing, among others, to thank for all the joy making music brings me. I can't wait to see KK's Priest live next month.

My first time seeing Judas Priest was the Killing Machine/Hell Bent For Leather tour, and every tour since. Last one was the Firepower tour. Cheers

The first time I saw Judas Priest was in February 1978 opening for Foghat in Corpus Christi, Texas. Still have the ticket stub. It cost $6.50.

Great he mentions Rocka Rolla and Bullet Train! Best version of Bullet Train: Live 98’ Meltdown. Crazy about Yngwie.. I met Yngwie by accidental bumping in while he was brushing his hair and getting his stuff ready for a DiMarzio pickups NAMM appearance and he was nice to me. Great KK gets along too. Stoked to listen!

What an amazing interview. I've been listening to Judas Priest since I first heard Unleashed In The East. That album blew my mind and gave me a taste of Priest live. Seeing them live was amazing and KK was a major influence in my choice to play guitar. I actually did a speech in class on his custom Hamer flying V. Thanks so much for sharing this BADASS interview with a guitar ICON 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🍻🍻🍻🎸🎸🎸
@stevenfilley763111 ай бұрын
Unleashed was my 1st experience with JP. I saw them 1st time point of entry tour. In a small location. South Bend Indiana. Very first song was Solar Angles. I was 8 rows from the stage. It was so loud and clean it took couple minutes to catch my breath. True statement. I was never the same again. KK just blew my mind. Seen them every year after that until they stopped playing in my area. Then the end happened. JP never was the same.

K.K. Rips ! Such an amazing guitarist and always was one of my personal favourites ! thanks for all the wicked riffs over the last 40+ Years !🤘🏻looking forward to many more new ones! The last KK’s Priest album was amazing. I almost started laughing when he was discussing that he didn’t really feel the need to change his sound up … Yeah I don’t think he should mess around to much with that either as he has always sounded killer right from the start. You don’t mess with perfection! ( especially when you already have it 100% right ) He knows what he likes and he also knows what we like because it’s the same thing ! 😄 really good songwriting, killer riffs , and amazing solos and really thick bass and drums locking it all down with a fantastic singer and he’s got that all covered. I can’t wait to hear the next album and then see him playing live again ! So happy he’s back out there ripping it up! Equally important that he is enjoying himself doing it ! All the best K.K. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻 see You in B.C. on 🇨🇦Tour ! 😊

I met KK & Glen in an elevator in Salt Lake City, UT back in 1990 during the Ram It Down Tour. Megadeth & Testament opened for them. Glen took one of our beers(he gave it back) making fun of Utah’s “near beer”. Never got around to letting him know it came from the Air Force base. So, anyone sees Tipton, that was a full-blown Budweiser. 😅

KK Downing is my favourite guitar player in the world. I have other guitarists that I like but KK is the total package. He was the one that always put up a great show for Judas Priest. So much energy in his play. Such a shame that he is gone and Judas Priest now is an absolute joke on stage. Anyways enough of that subject and let's move on to something a little more positive. I just hope that one day Downing and his new band would play live One Shot At Glory. Simply for the fact that that song has got Downing's style of play all over it. Thank you.

Kk still has it, I just listened to his second cd the sinner rides again with his priest and he still rips it, he is awesome, always has been. I tip my hat to you Ken, your a true gentlemen, awesome metal guitarist and I wish you and Ripper all the best. Vintage, older fan here that grew up on the old Priest vibe. KK..u reading this? Stay current of course, but try to find the old fire of priest, not just a rehash of painkiller which has no warmth or soul, a bit cliche. I know that times have changed since vintage priest. Younger fans wanna just hear something fast with the painkiller drumming style. However..sitck to your own instincts and vintage musical taste which generated the legendary first 4 or so Priest albums. Each one different. than the other. Sin after sin took chances, opened things up musically, while having unique guitar tones, same with sad wings. Don't be afraid to release a warm sounding , slower song that YOU feel the fans will like. Even attempt a shorter, commercial song . Never know..some daring radio station may give it a spin! Honestly, not a fan of ripper owen, feels a bit cliche, nothing original. His voice is not distinct , I don't even feel he has an original tone, musical personality or voice. But, I guess at this stage of your career, just go with what's working. Ignore Judas Priest in comment 100%. Bashing , complaining is a big no no in this newer world. Good luck!
@RockaRolla696911 ай бұрын
Great interview! He just can't stop talking about Priest! The bridge is burned. His mind is Priest. KK's Priest will always be a joke until he mentally moves on. It's embarrassing. He is still my favorite though.
@MrFatgoblin11 ай бұрын
He can't stop talking about Priest? He's answering questions asked to him, so what's he supposed to say? Also, of course his mind is Priest. He is as much Priest as Halford or Tipton, if not more. And finally, if you think KK's Priest is a "joke", you obviously haven't heard anything they've released. I've been a Priest fanatic for over 35 years but KK's Priest's material blows everything Priest have done since Painkiller clean out of the water.
