I have about 3 and a half years and 300+ hours of riding on this helmet and it's been awesome. It's light, has great ventilation, and is very protective. It works especially well for those "hard enduro" type riding situations.

I just ordered a F3 carbon pro. The shapes are getting "Speed Racer or batman art" funky to me, and the back of the F5 looks kind of like a Hockey goalie helmet. I guess I can assume being DOT compliant adds about .75lbs and at least $120. :) Looks like the F3 Pro shows that to be true. I rode a lot of dirt bikes and raced MX a bit for about a decade in the 70's, 80's and 90's, then took about 20 years off after my new business took off. Now getting back into riding again (woods). I have a pair of their pants. Klim is a new player to me, and it looks like they make good stuff. Seems to be a great company to me. Doug in Michigan

Glad you're back on a bike! Klim has been pioneering offroad riding gear for the past decade or so. A lot of dirt riding gear in the past has been purely motocross, and Klim was one of the first companies to introduce things like pockets to riding pants, as well as materials that don't rip to shreds as soon as you touch a tree. I believe they got acquired by Polaris a few years back, and had some quality issues over the years (who doesn't), but I like their stuff in general.

I don't have this helmet anymore unfortunately. I retired it after some impacts.

I will bet you MONEY, a old fashioned round helmet shape like the mid 70's Bell Moto 2, (round shell, round nose), will work as good or better than any MIPS helmet system with grooves on the shell and a pointy mouth piece, (modern shell shapes), when it comes to internal rotational force from hitting the ground.

Ohh, I think I will also add, that I don't believe rotational force is as catastrophic to the brain as "Blunt force" is, as rotational force is a "deflected" force, (how much depends on the vector of the force.). The "sideways" force that creates the most rotation will be the force with the least amount of blunt impact. If those plastic "crush tubes" work well, that is probably a better investment IMO.

You may be right there. Arai for a long time (maybe still) resists putting any sort of MIPS like thing into their helmets because they say their perfectly round shape already accomplishes this. That said, the best solution would be MIPS + rounder shape. A lot of ECE helmets are going into this direction.

@@EarthSurferUSA my understanding is that one of the main reasons for protecting against rotational forces is that these sorts of impacts are many times more common than a direct hit. There is a lot of literature out there about this as it's been studied extensively over the past decade, so could be interesting reading if that's a subject that's interesting to you.
