Klir Filter 101: Assembly & Installation

This would be great if it weren't for the fact that if you live in the UK, you can only order fleece rolls from overseas. The cost of shipping exceeds the cost of the replacement roll. Around £60 in total. Great product, but seriously limited.

I bought and installed it into my Reefsys 326. I had to modify the sump by lowering the filter sock holders in order to ensure that the sensor would work. Nothing was wrong for a few hours, but the alarm suddenly went off, and I saw that it was automatically rolling the filters, when it was clean. The sensor was not submerged in water, maybe slightly wet though. A lot of the clean parts of the fleece filter has been rolled away, is there any way to reuse the lost part?

There is a TS and PS port on the controller. May I know what is the PS port for ?

so i bought the klir di 4 but leave it off because of small water dropplets eventually starts blocking the optical sensor and make the fleece roll even if its still clean :( any solution?

Great video! Will it work on a trigger 39 sump where the filter sock hole is not a true circle? The hole is more oblong shape. Ty.

We currently do not have information on the Trigger sumps but do plan to work on adapting the Klir to most sumps on the market.

Carlos great Video, can you give me an idea of how to install one with a bracket so that I can install one in my sump that does not have a filter sock holder.. Please!

If your sump does not have a built in sock chamber or what that meets the Klir installation requirements you can use a Klir Filter Bracket www.coralvue.com/klir-di-4-filter-bracket . The bracket docks two drain lines from the aquarium and also has a bypass to manage how much water filters through the fleece filter.

I just got my KLIR di4 for my waterbox 130.4. Looks like all the WB folks run at least 1 sometimes two...the sump for the WB is PERFECT. I got RID OF THAT POS RED SEA MAX 250. The waterbox glass?, stand and sump are Superior. And when you buy the BEST equipment to run a system it makes a difference.

Would love to use one but can t work with my Trigger Tideline36 sump as the sump area can’t hold 1” or water. Is there an option to lower the sensor to say 1/2”?

Sorry there is no way to lower the sensor any lower to accommodate the sump. The filter only requires 1in of water to site above the sock tray.

I missed the part that explained controller function... What does reset do? Flashing light indications indicate what?

The Power/Reset button allows you to power on and off the controller as well as press and hold to manually activate the motor.

Have you tested it in a reef tank with a skimmer ? Does it make the skimmer overflow? Do you have to wash the fleece before using it to prevent the skimmer from overflowing?

Unlike filter socks which can be treated for color and often causes overflows the Klirs filter fleece will not have this affect.

What is the purpose of the 2 vent pipes?

It seems to prevent any vacuum from rushing water in case it wants to siphon out. Depends on the level of flow in your sump from your overflow line.

Completely missing instructions on how to set up two units, just mentioned that you can... After some research I’ve found it requires you to buy a separate splitter cable, fortunately it’s low in cost.

50 microns? So I tried 100 microns in filter socks and it plugged up 1-2 times a day in a 20 gallon aquarium. With 200 microns it was every 2-3 days. It sounds like 50 microns is going to plugg up reeeally fast! The best would be if the customer could choose from 50, 100 or 200 microns.

I’m Assuming that this won’t work with any Red Sea tank since it can’t hold 1” of extra water in the sock tray!! Very disappointing

edwin morgado , so where did u install it, did u silicon it also?? I was wondering if it would fit being that the space around the Red Sea sock holder so tight??

T Surro all along the edge and yes sealed it with silicone, bottom adapter plate on the base of the Klir has to be trimmed also but it works like a champ

They must have fixed whatever the problem was because it is legit a life saver. Been running a week and it looks to me like I’ll get at least a month out of this. I will gladly pay $20 to not deal with changing filter socks 2-3 times a week, then having to clean them

This video is terrible. How about you explain how to get master/slave to work, and what the button on the controller does.

Man half the video of wasted information then you get to installation and just speed through it with little advice. There's much better videos out there showing installation

Sorry you felt this way. At the time the Klir was released there weren't any automatic fleece filters on the market in the US so we felt the need to educate the user on what it does and its benefits before purchasing or using.
