Arthroscopic meniscal surgery - or how to treat meniscal damage - explained in 3D!
The meniscus acts like a shock absorber in the joint between the femur and the tibia, and can suffer two types of damage that can be repaired by meniscal surgery. In the first case, a flap, or a mobile fragment, forms in the joint. The rubbing of the cartilage causes discomfort and pain. The procedure consists in removing this fragment, called a meniscal bell clapper. The second trauma is on the contrary peripheral: the lesion is located in a zone where it can heal. In this case, miniature instruments are used to suture the lesion. The meniscus is not affected. Carried out arthroscopically through small incisions using a camera to visualize the joint, meniscal surgery guarantees an almost inexistent scar and faster recovery.

The physical therapy after surgery can be painful. But follow it 100% and you will be happy with the result. I have had both knees done and am very happy with the results (40 yrs and 12 yrs later).

Hello, here is Korea 2 years ago I had surgery to suture the right meniscus medial root 2 years ago. It ruptured again in the same place on July 30. The suturing operation was successful 2 years ago, but I think the suture without improving the body imbalance led to the overall muscle imbalance. When the stiffness of the hip joint or the stiffness of the right shoulder is relieved, the left and right balance feels like the knee pain is there, but the overall balance feels better. Do I need surgery again? The inner part of the cartilage plate is said to be difficult to regenerate because there are no blood vessels, but I've heard that it can be regenerated with synovial fluid. What do you think? And I wonder if it is right for the overall muscle balance to deteriorate after surgery without correcting the body imbalance.

You will probably get arthritis earlier in that knee considering there is less left meaning it will wear out faster

I used crutches for about 7 or 8 weeks. At the beginning (first 2 to 3 weeks) you can't step or do flexion, the you start doing that progressively according to your orthopedist recommendation. Suture takes longer to heal than menisectomy but in long term is better considering you preserve a bigger area of meniscus.
