Sir. I commend you for a truly amazing comment about our responsibilities as martial artists. I will share this with my students!!

I appreciate guro mark for this perspective. I think there is no real concrete answer to knife defence. We all want to go to youtube and find a perfect technique that will fix all of our problems. Self defense is a huge can of worms online lol. I think the best way is to keep an open mind to the evolution of combat and pressure test each method to the best of our ability. Simpler is always better. Once our bodies go into "fight or flight" mode, all fine motor skills go out the window, so muscle memory is to be relied on.

Also an addition to my last comment. The leverage arm is used to hold and pull the target in.

Thanks again for sharing another perspective. One thing I want to ask though, and I'm not sure how big an ask this is, is if you'd like to add short clips to your videos of things being applied in sparring under pressure? Jeff Chan on MMA Shredded does that with almost all his technique videos and I've been able to learn a whole lot from that format. I understand if that's kind of like giving away your business for free, but if you're down to do it, I'm sure a lot of viewers would appreciate it.

this guy usually likes to just share drills, I'm not sure I've ever seen him do pressure vids (not saying that he can't). Try following Paulo Rubio, he does a ton of pressure testing and sparring film. Have a good day!

Difficult to be confident im finding that a knife can Be as dangerous as a gun, so i tend to think like you just said ,using kali as a counter agressive art .

Umm the Problem i have is who attacks you like that. Thrusts to the stomach are low line so you can't see the knife when you're in close to the victim. Attacking the stomach from there is to far away he is losing reach and aiming at non vital targets. You're head and neck are better targets at that distance and especially since you can see the knife.

You're not wrong, though actually, most stabbings seen on video are (almost) exactly like they described in the video. They aren't usually that far away, true, but no one's smart enough to stab them in the neck... or rather, it's safer for them not to. Rapid stabs to the stomach is less easy to grab than being untrained and trying to be fast enough to go from your pocket to the throat.
