We are so thankful to have the opportunity to test out Gunny Juice! We got to do a test run and it proved worth it and worthy. Scott Gunn Has outdone himself. We're excited to see what he does next. Check out this video and see the product for yourself. We put it to the test and passed with flying colors. When you've advanced enough with your sharpening to get into abrasives, then you're going to want to check this out! Simply pick your favorite strop. It applies so easily. It will save you a lot of time with your polish and sharpening. I expected to only get 15 more percent but man was I surprised! We've included two links for you to grab some:

Just watched a Gunny video where described the Jende Nanocloth as all being the same with 50 micron holes. You can put any micron size emulsion on any cloth labeled size. They label their cloths and add colors so you don't get confused when using mutiple size microns. So you can put any size micron emulsion on any jende nanocloth.

Just tried it out on my Takayuki VG10 petty coming fresh off the Shapton glass 8k then I loaded the strop with a decent amount of .5 gunny juice to cover the leathers grain, even though the kangaroo leather is thin it soaks up rather fast so I had to be as fast while applying with my finger to get even application, then let dry till slightly damp and went with 30 strokes each side probably not needed but worked amazingly well...just cut some fresh ginger this morning to add to my tonic and as I expected they came out paper thin.

Thank you for this interesting video. I was primarily using a 3 X 11" kangaroo strop, and the only diamond spray I've ever tried on that, or any other strop is Richmond's diamond spray in .5 micron & 1 micron coarseness. The Richmond sprays on fairly evenly to begin with, and I then used only my finger to spread it out. I did not end up with excessive diamonds on my finer, and it was fairly easy to spread out. After trying it, I switched back to using the kangaroo strops I have dry, without any compounds, which seemed to work much better in my case. This is not a criticism, but I was a little surprised to see you using a medium length kangaroo leather strop on a 250mm knife, but you made it work. My current favorite leather & strop is the Burrfection rolled buffalo 🐃 3 X 12" strop. It is just an incredibly effective strop. However, it has a naturally high oil content, and when I tried adding a very thin layer of mineral oil to it, the strop became very slick, until the mineral oil was worked into the strop. I will probably never try adding mineral oil to it again. It naturally has a really nice drag on the bevel, when you hit the perfect angle. I suspect rolled buffalo would be more conducive to adding a diamond spray to it, a opposed to my kangaroo leather strops. But, for now, what I really like, is how the buffalo leather grabs onto the bevel, when the angle is just right, so I'm just a little hesitant to try diamond spray at this time, until I get a couple more, and then I can experiment on the oldest one. When I had posted my questions on Scott Gunns FaceBook posts, and I finally noticed that he did in fact answer my question the first time, I was only asking about the diamond concentration, and he pointed out that a better question to ask would have been about the quality of the diamonds used, and possibly about the emulsions. I'm heading back to watch your unboxing of the moritaka 250mm Gyuto.

I just unboxed my Moritaka AS 170mm Bunka today! I bought diamond spray and wanted to watch a quick video and you happened to be using a Moritaka AS. Small world I guess. If you like a knife that takes a wicked edge Masakage’s white #2 sharpens up so easily and at 63HRC it holds it. Not quite like AS, but the way it sharpens up is a thing of beauty. Great video friend. 👍🏼

Hi, nice vid! I'm into woodworking and I've ordered 0.5 jende stropping base and their emulsion. Can somebody help me understand how much the diamond emulsions last because they are fairly expensive?
@nadm
@nadm 2 жыл бұрын
Every product will last differently according to the material that it's put on, and the amount of frequency it's used, and the manufacturer that you got it from. Sorry I don't have a better answer. I have several that are loaded up with gunny juice. It just seems like you know but I don't really have a way of telling you how long that is. It depends on how many knives you have and how often you do them

@nadm

Absolutely not! You definitely need to put your tip on the fulcrum and then press down. There's a saying, "you can't do it to Sloan but you can do it too fast!" Do you want to take your time pressing. Once it snaps the string and then the number will stop. The sharper the knife, the faster it snaps.

I tried this juice with Jende strops and on leather strops with 3,1 and .5 gunny juice. I was not impressed and felt I wasted my $$$. What percentage of diamonds is in each bottle . Know how much (iirc you stated per liter?) Doesn't help. Gritomatic is a excellent company and I will continue to make purchases from them . But not anymore of this stuff. I buy the techdiamondtools paste at less then 1/2 the price with 50 percent concentration of diamonds . Something about the gunny juice 3 micron seemed to be wrong as it was less viscus then the .5 and did nothing . It doesn't pay for me to have sent it back since I live outside the US. But never again.

I would actually say it's your strop. If you used his nano cloth strap, then it's a honeycomb shape. We have a different video where we test all of them. Ken Schwartz was on the phone constantly to make sure the test was ran properly. The results were very clear. Each manufacture was our behalf actually happy with the product. The strop from Jende industries is a honeycomb shape below the surface. The owner said a person presses too hard that the honeycomb will scratch the surface of the edge and the knife. You will see us use the same piece of leather cut from the same towel and then you will see us all using nano cloth given to us by Ken Schwartz himself before he died. The nano cloth has no abrasive contribution so each diamond emulsion was tested independently so that the leather material would not contribute any type of Abrasive. The certified scientific testing certificate states that the gummy juice products is over 98% the proper particle size. What that means is that a lot of products might say they're one micron but might have a certain percentage of material that is slightly higher causing you to get scratches that are too big. It's the highest rated product. He has also the highest ratio of diamonds. 200 carrots per gallon. There is no other product on the market that uses that ratio. Other products I've come out since this video and Scott has never kept his formula a secret. The difference is that Scott uses deionized diamonds so that they do not coagulate and form a clump. Also, the liquid that it's suspended and is kind of like mercury/water. It dries very fast and you might be used to something that's a little thicker. I truly believe it was the material you put it on. We used different materials in our testing and you will see the results. We do all of it continuously so there's no camera magic. I am not used to using something as high as 3 µm so I have no clue what a factor that would have. I use the .5 µm all the time. I have gotten test results down to 67 and lower. Scott has his own videos where he shows a score of 12 and lower. He does everything on camera and does or two knives that are identical and he uses the two different machines to show that the machine wasn't broken. I'm sorry that you feel that way. I think you'll see that our test results were quite in favor of the product. There are some new products out there that we look forward to testing. Tokushu knife has tried to come out with something comparable but did not deionized the diamonds. They are using oil to suspend the product and it takes forever to dry. Scott has never paid for any type of testing on our show. All of the materials in the testing were each donated by each of the companies so none of them paid money to have the test results done. We were in negotiations for three months to make sure that the manufacturers were very happy. You will also see Jende industries goes way out of their way to say that their product is comparable to Scott they have plastered his name all over their website to try to say that they can keep up with the product. That's a big compliment. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sMChqLxe36enZok.html
