When I was 16, I bought my very first knife. And it was a push dagger. Ever since, I liked the design of it. So I made my own set of push daggers. And it turned out pretty well I think.
I used XC75 steel to make them, brass pins and padauk for the handles. I put a lot of time and work into this video, so I really hope you will like it.

The Redsmith nope not only push dagger, every sharp edge metal is knife for me. One question why didn't u heat up as traditional way, u used oxygen to heat up

kvncszn As I don't own a gaz forge, my two ways of heat up a blade for quench is oxyacetylene torch or coal forge. The torch is quicker. For tempering the blade, I always use the owen, but it can be done with the torch too.

Très jolis ! juste un détail : les push daggers sont faites pour le combat, un fini miroir reflète trop la lumière et un reflet peu conduire l'utilisateur à être réparé, donc question pratique un poli mat ou satin aurait été plus approprié Sinon rien à redire, très beaux couteaux

cela serait plus judicieux en effet ;) teinture a l'acide, ou "sandblasting" puis de la peinture pour arme a feu, perso je préfère la teinture a l'acide :) les couteaux tactiques doivent renvoyer un minimum de lumière ;) j'ai besoin d'un conseil : quel fini pour une machette ?

Gaetan Thomas A mon humble avis, et comme les Push Daggers sont généralement considérés comme des armes de défense, le reflet de la lumière n'est pas vraiment un problème. Mais je tenterai bien un noircissement à la rouille bouillie. Pour la machette, je préfère la lame noircie avec un tranchant bien net. J'aime assez le contraste acier noir / acier argent 😊

The Redsmith defense défense.. mouais si on veut ×) enfin sa reste un couteau dont le seul usage est le combat, donc.. il'vaut mieux eviter les reflets enfin chacun son point de vue a la rouille'bouillie ? O_o jamais entendu parlé de cette méthode, sa serait intéressant à voir je travaille de l'inox uniquement, donc je ne peux pas teindre mes lames :/

Gaetan Thomas C'est une des techniques qu'utilise Michael Cthulhu lorsqu'il construit certaines de ses épées géantes. Je pense essayer ça prochainement 😊

Hey Red, awesome video. Thats one sweet dagger. One question, how do you decide on the angle of the knife edge? Experience? Luck? knife sharpener?

Thank you very much. I try to keep a 15-20 degree angle for the bevel (which works for most of the knives) Experience helps a lot. Sometimes luck if it's the first time I make a special kind of blade. But I never use a knife sharpener. :)
