oh wow, the nitrous stryker, you don't see them very often. The mini nitrous stryker was my first quality knife and it got me into the hobby.

I've been trying to center my benchmade bugout, with the aluminum scales and m390. If you have center them, what was your process. Did you you open it half way as well and then tighten? I've held the lever down while loosening and tightening it, and it sometimes looks like it's centered but then goes back off centered.

You don't have to get this specific one, but something like this will fix just about any knife you ever get your hands on www.amazon.com/Screwdriver-Precision-Magnetic-Electronics-Smartphone/dp/B0895FV9CH/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=elecontronis+screw+driver+set&qid=1610071391&sr=8-11

Would that trick also apply to all folding knives such as a lockback, deadbolt or even the gear lock? Thanks a bunch in advance and keep on making sharp things fun and informative. My bad the gear lock is just a liner lock.
@DocP91B
@DocP91B 3 жыл бұрын
It applies to a whole lot of knives regardless of the locking system. It doesn't work on 100%, but most.
@uncle_thulhu
@uncle_thulhu 3 жыл бұрын
It absolutely does! Thankyou so much! Mine isn't a liner-lock, but it definitely has those same screws. One other thing, I know you don't like fixed-angle sharpeners, but I've heard you say there is a right way to use them. I was thinking that the right way was to just use the weight of the knife, rather than pressing it into the sharpening rods. Would that be correct?
@DocP91B

100% never push your blade into them. Just pull the blade through them, letting the edge rest in between the guides.

If only fixing a bent fixed blade was so easy; straitening a bent tip on a kitchen knife takes awhile.

@@MAC-gx3ji if it's pinned, then your pivot is all you have. You may have to swap one of the washers out with one that's a different width.

@DocP91B

If they have more than one frame screw yes. If it's just the pivot and then one screw down by they tail, not really.

Do you know how to fix that over extended liner lock tho? Do you see the blade stop pin on top,if you see it it's the shape of an octagon. Unscrew that just alittle and turn it. Back and forth as you look at the lock up once you see the liner lock go closer the the starting point when it just barely touches the blade steel than keep the blade open in lock position and than tighten that screw up and bam!! Your liner lock is back to how you get it when its new

@DocP91B 3 жыл бұрын
That's a great tip if they are using the Shane Seibert system. His stop pins are slightly different sizes on each of the hexagon sizes. But on this model of the model for example its equilateral all around so that trick doesn't work. I've tried that on the 912. What does work is carbidizing the lock face.

@@knifeman1122 yes with this particular knife. It has been not just used but abused. I did not take good care of it and it is over 10 years old. The poor condition of it is my fault.
