Basically just point to every part on the truck and say "not cracked damaged or leaking" LOL

I passed my test in one day with the same instructor. But I miss the whole 5th wheel inspection but it wasn't enough to fail me. As far as the road test was the easiest part. Just drive safely u will pass. If anything backing and pre trip are harder.

I'm currently in Knight CDL training, they have us memorizing & reciting so much more info... our pre-trip takes a minimum of 40min! and that's if you walk & fast...

This student made many errors. Even not mentioning correctly the simple rear recap/tire depth of 2/32". He said it was 4/32" depth for all of the axles and he said this two times! Hope he made it but I have my doubts. We all get nervous so study hard and remember the details!...your examiner does.

I love the end. Says 3 things to check and only checks 2. What about the landing gear crank handle

I didn't get a good look at it, but i believe he mis indentified the water pump as the alternator, as he said alternator twice. Very good video though!

I graduated trucking school last week and start orientation with Knight next week. I was taught 105 PSI for steer tires. Also i didn't hear a mention of the pitman arm which on its own is i think 2 points on the CA pre-trip. Also 2 inches of play in slack adjuster for a dual air brake chamber, 1 inch play for single brake chamber, also 95 PSI for drives and trailer tires, he also didn't check air tanks.
@mikehaid33058 жыл бұрын
I would have left the hood open when you starting the engine to check for the belts are running straight and true that that you have no loose components a no air leak or electrical arcing. you also missed the value stem on driver side for leaking.

It is safe to do your inspection. My concern is. Why do I see drivers at the truck stops and some don't do their inspection. They just get up and go

He made a few mistakes,probably enough to fail. Although he had his general knowledge down, which is integral , he wasn't going verbatim on the language of it. Ie cracked damaged or leaking at appropriate times. Steer tires 4/32 then 2/32 on drives AND tandems . He didn't mention tie downs and he didn't say there were front and back spring hangers on the drives. Generally, it's a good vid so don't dismiss it. Just read and memorize the paper work and know what parts look like/ location and you'll pass.

If you get everything perfect on one side, then go to the other side and say” now I’m going to explain everything on this side as I did the other” 95 percent of the time. They won’t make you explain everything on the other side if you nail one side. Engine area and in cab needs to be done no matter what. When I do my pti, I always put a dime on the tread. If you can see half to full face on the coin, you need to replace your tires. Good thing to remember. He never mentioned steering wheel to see if it had any play. He forgot to turn the wipers on and off to make sure they are in good working order and the blade is not torn or missing. What about the batteries, he didn’t check them. He should have checked the trailer permit, to make sure it was there and not torn or missing. Be sure an learn that pre trip. Sometimes, officers will pull you over just to see if you know your pre trip. If you don’t, you won’t like the outcome.

Just so everyone knows that the inspector is not your friend. He will not help you. And his job is not to hope you pass. His job is to try and fail you...meaning he will pick at EVERYTHING you do.

hmmm if can't remember the pre trip inspection why do you drive a semi ? it is cat's like you that fail,good day

First and foremost you need to be able to read and comprehend road signs and English on digital read out signs, as well as communicate to an officer any issues you may encounter on the road, if the situation calls for this type of action. This may seem rude, but it is a basic safety requirement in order to safely operate a vehicle. Look at the incident in Colorado if you have any doubts as to my reason for this comment. Additionally, to answer your question: Yes, companies tend to require new employees to go through their company training prior to getting on the road with their equipment and freight. This, however, is a pre-trip inspection that is to be done prior to your driving each day.
