My friend Stefan use a kit of an medival russian mercanary of the 14th century. For safty reasons he used a modern fencing mask. The helmet of his kit has an open face :/
My knight armor is a set of the 1450s.
In the hole sparring he was abel to got me 2 times in some gabs of my armor. I was abel to hurt him way more than 10 times.

@@jeusmarcomascarina4102Well even a poor peasant can afford some basic armor, if they sold their livestock. Ex. A helm, gambeson, perhaps jackchains or chainmail.

Being a peasant was more hard work than abject poverty. One of the most common forms of taxation was the tenth. One tenth of everything you produced on the land that you cultivated was for the person who owned the land. That left 90% of all the eggs, wool, grain, meat, milk and whatever else you made for you and you family. And the middle ages were a highly fertile time thanks to a climate optimum. As I said, lots of hard, manual labor. Especially during harvest season it's estimated that peasants ate about 6000-8000 calories a day. You don't get to that kind of energy demand without some seriously hard work. But it's not like you were going to be wearing rags every day of your life. The reason why that is such a common belief is that peasants are usually depicted doing work in historical sources. See the page for March in Très Riches Heures. But that means they're depicted in their working clothes. Other months in the same book, like June or October, also show peasants doing work, but in undamaged and colourful clothing. Actually, look at all the months from Très Riches Heures, just because it's such a stunningly beautiful illumination.

I don't think that this is my best video! No really close combat, no groundfight, no beautiful castle in the background. But you have a point... My armor looks better than ever before my opponent use historical accurate stuff (without the fencing mask) and the techniques are okay.👍

Interesting to see how much of a disadvantage being unarmored was. The amount of work to defeat the armored opponent, vs the one mistake the unarmored has to make. But you must try, yes?

Interesting way of holding both the sword and the spear, I like it. Does it come from a specific treatise?

Yes it was a very common way of fighting. Sources like the gladiatoria show it and techniks against it. It seems so common that no fencing book show it as a new invention of his art.

Dequitem! My good, parasocial friend, I would like to make a suggestion, what if you told stories and tried to reenact certain duels noted in Renaissance and Medieval books? I think you have such great historical items and amazing cinematography skills, enough to tell epic tales of how battles were fought, I understand you already try to do something similar but what if you tried to replicate equipment by time and location? Something like, what an actual English knight from Agincourt would've worn against a French one, anyways, just a suggestion, keep up the good work!

Technic might be to get close enough to grab the knight get him to the ground and try to stab him through the eye piece in his helmat

But my helmet is historical accurate and have no open eye piece. The better way is to poke me inside of my legs and my ass.

The fight was great but the soundtrack is amazing! Anybody knows the name of it? If it's in description i can't tell 'cuz i am not fluent in german. Also, i would love a playlist of these soundtracks from duels, they are just perfect!!!! Good job, keep at it!!!!

@dequitem what happens if the knight just.. uses his full armour to just tank one hit by the spear and just use the longsword at full cutting range to just cut at exposed pieces the footsoldier is very exposed especially in the legs and side of the head and hands

That would be the best way but you risk getting stabbed in your gabs!

@@dequitem i mean sure, but he has to REALLY work at those gaps, wheras you have a full smorgusboard of targets which would need only light cuts to disable esp the hands (assuming said solider doesnt always have gauntlets, and again, the legs would need so little to disable.. same with the spear theres a number of places youd only need to just graze with the edge of the spear to cause massive bleeding so you can essentially act more freely

Does it even has any sence for knight to use spear and wasting energy? He is bassicaly invincible for a spear thrust, at least from the front

@@dequitem yeah, I know spears were pretty common. But fighting an opponent with much lighter protection - does a knight really needs this distance? Thus he also stays in an opponents spear distance. It just seems to me, that a knight could just rush in with the sword, not really worrying about first thrust, and quickly finish the other guy

Такое впечатление, что "крестьянин" переутомился или травмировался еще до поединка. На нем же защитная маска, которая дает гораздо больший обзор чем аутентичный закрытый шлем. Соответственно, при равной подготовке, "крестьянин" должен был быть существенно ловчее и точнее в движениях. А тут скорее наоборот.

It depends mostly on training, I don't feel a difference in my accuracy when I wearing a helmet or fight without.😉
