The Knipex Preci Strip 16 is the automatic wire stripper I didn't know I needed, Ive tried many others over the years and they either haven't worked properly or they are far too bulky to be something I'd want in my tool bag. These are so light and slim by comparison that I'm really enjoying using an auto stripper for a change. These are a pricey tool and not for everyone, but if you do a lot of ranges of wire sizes daily or production style work then they're probable worth a look for sure! I have heard really good things about their previous version of these as well but I haven't tried them.
These strippers were sent to us by Knipex but we are NOT SPONSORED! Just love the product.

I used to use the original version of this back many years when I worked wiring up printing presses. They very good back then, these latest ones seem to have a bit more finesse to them, don't remember the original ones having any adjustment. We did used to get through the blades a bit, so making them replaceable extends the life of the stripers. I presume the body is still mostly plastic though. Appreciate the video of them.

These automatic Knipex sure are nice. I've always just used the much cheaper* Jokari Super 4 plus. Works very well and realiably even under less than ideal conditions. I've had mine for years, stripped several thousand wires and still works well. Never really felt the need to upgrade, however the Knipex has a wider capacity range. *It costs only 11.63€ incl. taxes and shipping and is made in Germany. I'm not sure how they are making money with that :)

Ive been using these for a few months now. They work great on smaller wire, but sometimes on 10awg+ i need to manually squeeze the jaws so the wire doesnt slip. Not a huge deal, and still much quicker and consistent that regular strippers.

I got them both. They’re excellent tools. You forgot to mention that those pliers don’t smash the wire when cut ,leaving a perfect round shape with all the inside wiring untouched. First class tools have its price. Indispensable for the professional

I bought this set a couple of years ago, thinking that because everything else knipex is superb, these also would be. I was working on walmart lighting converting all the fixtures in the store to LED, but the issue i had with them was this.... these strippers didnt want to work on older wiring that has been hot for 12+ years, youd have to hold your fingers at the jaw, otherwise it wouldnt grip the wire tight enough, even with the dial turned all the way in both directions. because of this I gave up trying to use them on that stuff. so they have set in my veto bag for years. they work great on shiny new wire though

Can you close then when you store them?, I have the previous version (atleast I think it's the previous one), 12 42 195, but i can't close the handles so they take a bit space. I have some others, weicon, that can be closed, that is also good, but for bigger wires.

Will these Strippers Strip 24 & 26 Gauge Stranded dual wire I'm in model Railroading which requires removing the jacket from several sizes of Wire 14 to 16 Gauge wire which runs the main course of the layout the Buss Line carries the bulk of the power to the Main line then branches to Yards & can carry power to the Scenery.. but I'm wanting a tool that can strip 2 wires at once cleanly without wire damage to the thin Wire.. Thanks Allen D

These are not the best for field work as you rarely need to strip 100s of wires for field/service work. These also aren't great for solid core wire that is used in installation work. These ARE perfect for wireman, panel builders, or any other manufacturing role.

So many of us have paid (and a lot) for the two previous versions of the automatic strippers from Knipex that did not work so well. Now they want us to take the deepest price dive for this newest version that has worked out all the issues. Hard to decide to do! Maybe a plan that lets us trade in the previous flawed versions for this new model? The Weicon #5 automatic strippers have V type blades and work very well based on my experiences stripping thin wires used in electronics.

@@MillisConstruction The two previous versions certainly don’t perform to their price points (other brand tools work better than them and much cheaper) and you can see this newer tool versions addressing the faults of the previous. Really liking your channel and the tools you review. It would be really great if you spent most of the time describing specific features while maybe putting the tool down on the table with a close up view from above so we can look at it while you speak. You’re going over the details well audibly but there’s little to no visual aid to go with it if you’re just holding the tool and moving it around. Just think a 2nd camera angle might serve you well.

I have a second camera but unfortunately the two footage colors do not mesh well at all. I did that on a few videos but I hated the look. I’m quite a few thousands of dollars into gear to get what I’m getting here already 😅 thousands in microphones, editing gear, cameras, even several thousand just in the lighting alone. Not to mention I pay for 90% of the tools myself with no discounts most of the time. It’ll have to pay a little better to sink much more into it unfortunately!

@@MillisConstruction I was just going to buy it, and that’s how I found out. I must have over a dozen various styles of strippers, from my old Ideal models to the newest. Most don’t work as well, or as quickly as stated. One of the best is the Radio Shack version of those strippers that work like a pliers and also have two parts to close and hold the wire while jaws close on the other side and pull the wire insulation, or several at once, off the wire. Since they’re open ended, you can strip as far from the ends as you like. I don’t know where this design came from originally, but I found the first at a hamfest I went to about 20 years ago. No name on it. Quite frankly, these cheap (it was $14.95 at RS) strippers beat most of the others. I wouldn’t be surprised if they beat these too. Up to #10 and work down to #24, and depending on the insulation, #26. By the way Knipex states that this model doesn’t work with THHN wire.
