As I watched you contrasting the two methods, I realized why years ago I switched to mostly doing crochet instead of knit, because switching between knit and purl was so much work. Now I can try to re-engage with knitting more interesting textures if I'm able to get proficient with Continental. Thank you so much!

Thank you! My daughter is proficient in this method. I've been knitting the old way for 51 years. My goal is to perfect continental this month so we can easily meet our goal of 200 hats for kids in our area.

Finally I get to see this method. I crochet and have been thinking about learning to knit. This makes do much more sense to my crochet brain.

Why on earth is it necessary to knit “fast” or “faster”? No matter how anyone knits it’s the process of knitting that gives a person joy. So what if someone knits “slower” if a person enjoys knitting isn’t that what counts?
