I have an old, about forty-year-old metal winder complete with a rotating "windmill", from my mother. Unfortunately, the winder has worn out and does not work properly. Thanks to you, I know that it is worth buying this Knit Pro. I really like your old "windmill"... I'm glad you like old items too 😍

I use the same ball winder and love it! I have an Amish swift. I usually sit on a bottom stair, hold the ball winder in my lap and tension the yarn with one hand and wind with the other. I put the swift on the floor to get the right height differential. I don't have patience for attaching things to tables! Definitely worth the extra money for this ball winder. Thanks for the demonstration and review.

Thank you Becky. Yes I've used the ball winder quite a few times now since I filmed the video and I really like it. It's hard to attach it to my table as it tapers at the edges but it works okay and it winds smooth cakes and it's quick. Wound a few skeins today.

I always wind the yarn by hand around my knees and I’m so fast nowadays but yeah, I don’t need a ball winder just more clutter

I wind the yarn around my knees quite often but if I need to wind several skeins I find a swift & ball winder much quicker

Maybe if you fasten the swift to a chair, it will be low enough for the ball winder, so it doesn't catch?

Unfortunately I don't think it'd work with my chairs.

I have the same winder and love it. I have a free standing swift from Belinda Harris-Reid which is also fab. I love the knit on the back of you chair, is it one of your patterns?

Yes it's the Tuck Stitch cardi from Knitting Magazine a few months ago www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tuck-stitch-cardigan-4 I kind of wish I'd bought one of Belinda's swifts instead.

It is a good swift. I had a clamp on umbrella swift that was very cheap but I was fed up of trying to find a surface to clamp it to. My dining table too is quite deep and it wouldn’t fit there. I don’t need to worry about clamping now. Thanks for the link, I know what my next project is going to be!
