It's Monday, it's Tips & Tricks time! This week starts a series on Brioche- 2 color brioche in many ways looks like a k1, p1 ribbing with two colors, one prominent on each side of the work. A good first step is learning the technique in the round, one color does the knit round, one does the purl round. This video is step one, the set up knit round. Next week we will add the second color for a brioche purl round, and in 2 weeks the brioche knit round. After that, we will discuss the differences when knitting brioche flat.
Here is a list for recommended cast on for a cozy brioche cowl in the round. Use 16” or 24” circular needles.
Fingering weight yarn: US 5 (3.75mm) needle, cast on 190 stitches
Sport weight yarn: US 6 (4.0mm) needle, cast on 160 stitches
DK weight yarn: US 7 (4.5mm) needle, cast on 140 stitches
Worsted weight yarn: US 9 (5.5mm) needle, cast on 120 stitches
Chunky/Bulky weight yarn: US 10.5 (6.5mm) needle, cast on 80 stitches
Super Bulky weight yarn: US 15 (10.0mm) needle, cast on 46 stitches
Tips reviewed in this video:
Every other stitch in a brioche row will be slipped.
Slip stitches "purl-wise," do not twist.
Make sure yarn is in front before slipped stitches, so the yarn "wraps" the slipped stitch.
On this setup row, your mantra is: knit, yarn front, slip.
At the end of the row, wrap the last slipped stitch and leave yarn in front.
Hope you all are well and safe, and may your crafting journeys be full of joy and confidence.
Lots of love,
❤️ Rebecca

If you want some Sun Dragon Swag(!) you can order a Sun Dragon t-shirt straight from us (don't worry that it says "on backorder," that's just a reminder we need to place an order with the company, we don't have them in stock at our shop):
sun-dragon-art-fiber.shopligh...
or order it directly from Big Frog Asheville:
lovelocalwnc.itemorder.com/pr...
They are $20 (a bit more for 2X and up), and we get $10 from each shirt! There are 5 colors available, fair warning they are lighter colors of shirt than the mock-ups, and the logo is printed into the fabric, so it won't peel off.
I also offer Zoom lessons for extra one-on-one help, $15 a session (usually we limit these to 2 hours), or consider the more formal classes for instruction and projects at $25.
Current lessons rates can be found here, and you can prepay on the site, later we can coordinate our schedules!

Join our virtual knit nights too! They are not necessarily a time for one on one help, but lots of camaraderie. Tuesday and Friday nights, 6-9 EDT, Zoom code 828-877-3550 :)
I mentioned my husband-like-person's KZfaq channel- PianoMountain. If you like music, especially piano, check him out!
