I think you knit more than any other person I watch on you tube. Wow! I didn't count, maybe next time you can tell us how many sweaters and socks and hats you knit in 2022. It seems like there were at least 100! You are such an inspiration! Thank you for sharing them all.

Thank you so much for this wonderful recap! I found your channel back in 2020 when going through some rough times with my health and you inspired me to pick up knitting (I've been idly doing crochet for years). I knit once when I was very young but stopped when I was a teenager. I've picked it back up over the last two years and can honestly say it has saved my life and given me so much comfort, through good days and, especially, bad. I want to thank you for inspiring me with you wonderful podcasts. You make knitting truly a comfort hobby, where I don't feel pressure or any expectations than the joy that is knitting itself. It's allowed me to reconnect with a creativity I thought I had lost due to illness and has given me a purpose and true source of joy in my life once more - something that I am exceptionally grateful for. I know I wouldn't have gone down this road if not for your cozy and comforting podcasts and the beautifully inspiring knits you create and show off. You have given me the courage to take up an old hobby and reclaim my life in a way that I least expected it, but am most grateful for. I am so happy to have followed you all through 2022 (I loved following the progress of all these knits while slowly working on my own alongside you) and cannot wait to see where you take us in 2023. Thank you so much for your wonderful knitting, your dedication to making this a cozy and welcoming place on the internet, and for inspiring me to pick up such a fulfilling craft.

If you have spinning oil on your yarn use Dawn dishwashing liquid along with your wool wash. Conservationists use Dawn to remove oil spill residue from wild life. It really does a good job on any kind of oil. You can see the oil come off and float on the wash water

Thank you for introducing so many of us to the JC Rennie cones! I've been knitting with them in various projects, and I've found that soaking the fabric in a warm soapy bath of dish detergent is very effective at removing the spinning oil, with no effect on the softness of the yarn. I then rinse and resoak in a wool wash.

Some absolutely beautiful sweaters. You are much more prolific than me but that's life. I have made the sandesgarn guernsey too and I just love it. I think it's my favourite sweater at the moment. I did modify it - instead of a 10 cm ribbed basque I knitted 10cm of moss stitch and then a couple of cm for a hem. I really like the tunic look it's given it. I've shamelessly copied you and purchased a couple of the patterns. Very pretty knits. oh and btw you should wear more bright colours, they really suit you, even the bright blue, which I think is fab.

I thoroughly enjoyed this recap of 2022! There were several items (the Iben genser, the Pinassa sweater and the Francis sweater) that I made notes of when you first showed them, but then had forgotten about. And I have your Mors hel sock pattern that I plan to try soon. I would love to hear your thoughts on making sweaters without the fuzziness of mohair or alpaca. Both of those fibers irritate my skin, and so many current patterns call for a plain yarn held with a fuzzy one. I'm curious about alternatives. Thank you, Inga, for this!

Regarding Tukuwool, I made a colorwork cardigan in their fingering yarn with something like 22 stitches in 10 cm and it fills up, like, a lot with washing. The pattern called for 20 stitches actually but I couldn't get that even using larger needles than the designer recommends, I think I knit a lot tighter than her. (The pattern is Thistle by Anna Johanna.) If you have some leftover yarn from the socks (which are beautiful!) you should really give it a try with some larger needles in a swatch, I suspect you'll like the fabric with looser gauge, too. Alternatively, there's a Tukuwool DK yarn that is exactly the same composition so you can still get the denser fabric on larger needles and it will be a warmer sweater.

HELP! God dag Inga. First, I have to say I really enjoy your blog. Second, I need some help with translation of a knitted sweater pattern from the 60's or 70's (I think). It is a traditional Norwegian wool sweater with pewter buttons and the trim for the outer edge. Someone has completed one sleeve on it. Would you be so kind as to translate the short page of instructions for me? This would mean a lot for my friend Mary so she can finish the rest of the sweater. . Just a little background on me. My great-grandfather Bjorn emigrated to Minnesota, USA sometime around 1915. I believe he was from near Bergen area, and we still have family there, but I don't know them. Please let me know if this is something you can do and if so where should I send the images to. Thank you in advance ~ Tara Tveitbakk-Morvant
