My favorite line in this entire film is when Benoit says to Marta: "You knew, because you had done it a hundred times. You gave him the correct medication... because you are a good nurse." It makes emotional every time.

Completely agree. Hits me too. It works on multiple levels. Not only is it saying that she's skilled at her job, not only is it saying that she's a nurse who is a good person, but it's being said by the person whose only desire and the very point of his profession is to get to the truth. It comes across not as an opinionated statement, but as factual evidence being submitted. Marta didn't simply need it to clear her. She needed to hear it from him to lose the overwhelming guilt she had been feeling over Harlan's death.

You want to hear something funny? When my mom and I first saw the movie, she didn't understand why everyone was saying that Marta was such a good person. Apparently, my mom thought that Marta looked just like Richard's mistress. 😅

One little detail that I absolutely LOVE: throughout most of the movie, the painted portrait of Harlan has a stern, foreboding expression on his face, like he's looking down on everyone in disapproval. But in the final scene of the movie, when Marta looks up a that same portrait, Harlan now has a wry smile on his face, like he's pleased and proud of her for winning out over the family. :)

Such a unique structure for a murder mystery. Revealing it was an accident perpetrated by Marta early in the movie somehow made it so much more compelling. Shifting the focus from "whodunit" to "wait now what happens?" was such a great call.

The reveal switches the vibe from a murder mystery into almost feeling like a heist movie, because now we're rooting for the "criminal" to get away with it.

It's a bit like the old "Columbo" series with Peter Falk. They always showed the viewers exactly how the murder was committed and by whom. The entertainment was in seeing how our lovable detective expertly fenced in the culprit by the end. "Knives Out" takes it to another level and then again and again.

The first time I watched this movie, I hated it. I didn't understand why they would reveal the truth halfway through. I didn't see the purpose. When I finally understood it wasn't a comedy (it has funny moments, but I went in thinking it was a comedy) I went back for a rewatch and I finally appreciated the cleverness of it all. I wound up naming my new pup Mr. Benoit!

I love the side story of the baseball: Richard throughs it out the window after he finds the "blank" letter, Blanc picks it out and puts it in his pocket, he later throws it to the dog when it brings him the trellice pieces, and then finally Linda takes it from the dog after the will reading. She goes to put it back and finds the letter. If Richard had not thrown it out the window to begin with she would have never found the letter to bust him. *perfect*

i love when harlan and marta are playing go and she says shes not playing to win, but playing to make a pretty pattern.. it seems like a small unnoticeable thing but it foreshadows how she was never even trying to win the inheritance and thats how she succeeded, tells so much about her character

And after Ransom hears Marta's confession, the first comment he makes is something like, "I thought I was the only one who could beat him at Go." Ransom tries to get ahead of Harlan in Go---and with the will---to fuel his own greed. Marta just wants to make something beautiful. She brought so much light and joy to Harlan's life because she genuinely wanted to be his friend, not for his money.

She tried to save Fran even though it meant she would be caught, but that's exactly what foiled Ransom's plan. edit: AND Harlan died because he concocted that plan instead of doing Marta's strategy which was to call the ambulance.

This movie is proof of what is possible when you get a great script, a great cast, and a great director together and let them just make a movie. It's nice seeing Daniel Craig having fun in a role, too. You can tell everyone is having the best time making this.

There's a point in the movie where you actually see Blanc look down at Marta's shoes earlier in the movie. It's a "blink and you'll miss it" moment that I caught on my second watch through. The detail in this movie is just amazing.

What I really loved about this film was that it started as a murder mystery, but then it became about the murderer hiding her crime, only to become a murder mystery again! So many twists and turns.

there are so many small details i love about this movie. Seems like everyone got outvoted, no one actually knows where Marta's family is from, in the flashback's to Harlan's birthday party everyone's next to him for the cake. but easily the best one is Harlan saying Ransom cant tell the difference between a real knife and a prop

It’s such a great way to build the mystery. Most of the flashbacks keep changing based on who’s recalling it. Helps put you IN the story instead of being the omniscient viewer like most mystery stories.

Fun fact, when Daniel Craig bursts into the room, and starts laying into the family, calling them vultures, that was the casts first time hearing his accent for the film, and the reaction is how they reacted to it

I thought it was a cross between the non-Cajun Louisiana accent you heard in the Green Mile from Tom Hanks and the old school Nashville accent you really don't hear too much anymore outside of the older people there whose families have been there for generations

I’m not familiar with this channel by any means, but to me it seems like she had prior knowledge, it was a little too pat how she offhandedly guessed stuff. I’m happy to be wrong and it didn’t take away from enjoying the video at all, so if you’re more familiar with this creator lmk if this is a normal thing for her. To me it read like she wrote the script after watching it at least once, probably with some research too.

Yeah I watched a different reaction right before this and it felt like she missed all the important details and would let the movie running while she talked for several seconds, so she definitely missed important details. I much prefer someone who catches on quick and processes what’s going on, I’m usually the same

@@XIN3OHd I think it depends on the person, I’m pretty sure I caught on to a lot of details when I first watched this movie, and tend to when watching other movies for the first time, I think her guesses were perfectly reasonable if the person watching is observant, clever, and good at recognizing foreshadowing and typical plot tropes

This is Agatha Christie level mystery. It is so well done, built up piece by piece, makes you question everyone. Then makes you requestion them. And makes you question yourself questioning them. Everyone does so good. Daniel Craig with the Southern Gentleman accent is just too good. Anna just kills it every time she is on screen. And I love how calm and unworried he is about his impending death. "Oh that's much less. No pressure. I really gotta write this down, I could use it in a book." lol. And how he cares for her like the child he wishes he had. He wouldn't die to save any of his own, but her he does.

Christopher Plummer was spectacular in this film. He carried such a rich performance in such a relatively small window of time. The depth of his care for Marta and the sadness he felt at being so disappointed at his family was palpable, and really sets up the stakes for everything that comes after. Thanks for reminding me how much I loved this movie.

Frank Oz usually has minor but memorable roles in films, usually reading off a list. He was the guy returning Jake's belongings when he was being released from prison at the beginning of The Blues Brothers ("One Timex watch, broken, ...), and played a similar role in Trading Places, when Louis was being booked after his arrest.

This is one of those movies you can just throw on anytime you don't know what to watch (after you've already seen it). And knowing how it unfolds doesn't harm the enjoyment at all, and that's the biggest compliment you can give a murder mystery movie

I've been waiting for this! This movie is so intricately written, you could watch it multiple times just to catch all the setups and payoffs, and then you could watch it a couple more times with the sound off just because of how gorgeous and well-shot it is.

This was unexpectedly one of the best times I had in a theater. I went with my brother and didn't know what to expect, and walked away having seen one of the most entertaining and well-crafted films I'd watched in a long time. I cannot wait to catch Glass Onion on NF.

My absolute favorite part about this movie is the way i saw it. It was my freshman year of college and they always would have free movie showings on our campus theater. I decided to go to this on a random friday night thinking itd be empty because everyone was out partying. the theater was actually packed over capacity and people were sitting on the floor and stuff. And *everybody* was so in tune with the movie, laughing at the jokes, cheering at some of the bigger moments, etc. It was so fun because of how many twists and turns there are in this movie. Its so tightly written and gets so much engagement from the viewer. Of course seeing big movies like Infinity War and Endgame on opening night is always a blast but something just felt so much more “communal” that night, like everybody was vibing on the same wavelength. Its probably my favorite theater experience ever

For the holidays I can't recommend Klaus enough. It is an amazing Christmas movie that I would love to see your reaction to. Its on Netflix and has some A class talent in it. From the new animation style to the amazing characters.it is honestly my favorite Christmas movie

This was so much fun to see again, your reactions were hilarious. I cant believe you waited so long to watch this! Btw, the piano key is to tell the cop to ask the same question to everyone, one of the many things you catch on rewatches. The director commentary for this is GOLD, you would love it. Great way to rewatch the film!

Our first house when I was a young child was next to a house of similar size and style as the one in this movie. The big house was a boarding house and the lady who owned it had a daughter close to our age. It was a cool house to play hide and seek in because it had tiny back hallways that the servants used back in the day. It had a tower section too. The house I lived in was the servants’ quarters at one point.

This film is brilliant; I'm still so surprised at how many people I know that have not seen it or heard that much about it. This is a top tier crafted film on all levels, and a blast to watch.

Natalie, the reason Meg hung up on Marta after asking her to give the money back, was because she could tell Marta wasn’t going to give it back. So she had no more reason to keep talking to her.

Nat’s best videos (in my opinion) are the ones that she enjoys from beginning to end. This reaction reminds me of how much fun she had watching Pirates of the Caribbean. I enjoy watching her enjoy herself!😁 I saw the Glass Onion trailer when I saw Wakanda Forever. I’m looking forward to Nat’s reaction to both.

I actually recently rewatched this and it definitely holds up the second time around. Especially after kind of forgetting just how genius a lot of it is. 10/10 arguably a perfect movie

My grandmother is a big agatha christie fan. So when they visited a few years ago I took them to see this in theaters. She loved it. This is the type of movie that all generations can really enjoy on the same level.

There are a lot of moments in this movie that make it worth a second watch. Things like Harlan describing Ransom as someone that can't tell a real knife from a prop one, the two bottles having different amounts of liquid (as one uses more per dose, a hint that she did give the right meds), or the dogs barking when Ransom first appears after it being mentioned that the dogs were barking the night of the "murder."

I was in the cinema unaccompanied but it was a blast. The audience were really loud from time to time. But in a good way. No talking or commenting, just lots of laughter and cheering.

The piano key is one of the fun details which is not obvious on first viewing. When Benoit Blanc plays a note, it is a cue for the detective. Notice he always asks when they arrived at the party so Blanc can build the sequence of events while staying a “passive observer” for a while.

I completely forgot how good the writing in this movie was. I really wished I went out to watch it in the theaters when it came out but man rewatching and finding out the twist after all this time is crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I love the details and the fact that you pick up more details the more you watch the movie again. One thing I didn't fully realize until now is that Mr. Thrombey was preparing everything for when he dies. He had completely the most important parts of what he wanted to do so when Marta thought she overdosed him and he would die, it was okay with it and ended himself as to not get Marta in trouble and complete his plan.

Fun Fact: In real life, Harlin is actually older than the lady who played his mom. And part where Jacob yells at Marta about sleeping with his grandfather, that wasn't originally in the script but Michael Shannon convinced the director to let them keep it. I love how the camera is shaking when they all leave the house trying to confront Marta.

This movie really is so much fun. Evans and Craig just really crushed it. Also, I love how much you notice upon multiple rewatches: SPOILING BELOW Blanc: "the game is afoot" and says he noticed the blood on Marta's shoe The dogs barking that night, and they bark at Ransom Wanetta saying "back again" A growler missing at Ransom's place Harlan: *regarding Ransom* "he can't tell the difference between a stage prop and a real knife" and many more!

I think ne reason this movie is recommended for family things like holidays is because its inspired by the style of Agatha Christie. and the appeal to her work is intergenerational, She is mine and my dads favourite author and she was my grandma's favourite as well. I watched this movie with my dad and we both thought my Abue would have really liked it too.

I love when Harlem mentions during their game that not everyone is very perceptive and can’t tell the difference between a real knife and a fake one. And then Ransom can’t tell the difference at the end. So many clever moments!

Good on your pointing out he wasn't effected by the morphine yet, that's the second clue it wasn't morphine. Youre very smart dont let anyone think otherwise And I really hope to see more of Marta and the old man together in more movies, they have a great chemistry. It's weird old men and young women relationships are usually so much fun

Daniel Craig completely blows it out of the park, i think his acting in this and glass onion is just perfect and works so well for the type of work this is, IDK why i expected less but he is my favourite parts of the 2 movies

It's a great film, I loved your reaction, Natalie. It's so well done, a clever, fun, and suspenseful film. Did you notice that the portrait of the dead patriarch changes at the end of the film, during the film he has a stern expression but once the truth comes it changes to a wry smile, Natalie.

One of 2019's best. Hands down. So well crafted. Great ensemble cast. Good storytelling. Christopher Plummer as Harlan the author. This was his final film role. He passed away in 2020. After this one, Daniel Craig (Blanc) & Ana de Armas (Marta) worked together on Craig's last Bond film, No Time to Die (2021). The sequel, Glass Onion will be availible on Netflix at the end of this month. I'm surprised it was in theatres first and that was not the original plan.

this is one of my favorites movies of all time, and i really recommend you to rewatch it knowing everything that happened. the amount of foreshadowing and hidden clues is insane (one can actually tell ransom was involved in his first appearance if they pay enough attention) and there's even full subplots told just by background details. it just gets better and more fun every time i watch it
