Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch sat Stuart Skinner for Calvin Pickard in Game 4 and the move paid off for Edmonton. Pickard, making his playoff debut, made 19 saves to help even up the series. The TSN Hockey panel breaks down the strong performance from Pickard and the Oilers' defence.

Skinner would be at best a backup. Oilers need to sign a competent goalie this offseason regardless of the results.

@@quincee3376 I think he was around 80th overall, management should realise if they were to build a strong team around McDavid, goalie is the top priority. A player that consistently produces should not lose because of a weak backend. That’s all Edmonton needs now to win a cup.

In the race to win the division, the Oilers played Pickard in games down the stretch that looked (on paper) like relatively easy wins....and lost some of them, and the division. This is now a best of three, and home ice for 2 of them is valuable. OTOH, the work that Pickard got late in the year may have paid back a big dividend last night.

The Toronto Sports Network ( TSN ) is so happy their golden child McBaby won the match. The Oilers are overrated, they have 2 AHL goalies in nets. If they get by Vancouver they have zero chance of beating Dallas. You think Ottinger gives up goals like Skinner or Picker? Enjoy your 2nd round cause it will be the last one you win and that's if you get past Vancouver which is highly unlikely.
