I’d like to see a SHOCK knot test between the Seaguar and the Ande. Maybe by dropping a weight from a specified height and gradually adding more weight each drop. I think the mono will dominate over flouro. Flouro gets brittle after repeated stretching. You could do a test on that machine also by pulling to a specific weight and releasing the pressure and then pulling again adding another pound and keep adding a pound and repeated release until it breaks. That test would show how repeated stretching destroys flouro while mono on the other hand returns somewhat to its original state like a rubber band. Flouro stretch’s and stays stretched then shatters.

I really enjoy your knot videos. It's good to see someone use something other than a "bucket full of weights" to test break strengths. Wet cinch downs are important. But have you ever tested fully wetted lines. After all, most of us fish with our knots and lines actually in the water. 😎

I understand using the same diameter in the abrasion test, but why didn't you use the same weight line in a strength test? I believe the mono would have won every time. If you look at how close each line came to reaching it's rated strength, mono did win that test.

To me, based on line rating, the Ande is the winner. The Seaguar never made it to it's rating of 20#'s. Seems it is over rated in strength. I mostly have stopped using flourocarbon and Ande or even the Sufix leader material is outstanding.

The wet dry results might be too close to call. Really looking forward to the visibility test. Thank you for doing these tests. They are a great benefit to the fishing community.

Abrasion resistance is more important, I can’t remember the last time I had a knot failure. Line breaks because something nicks or cuts it. And in my experience Ande mono leader holds up the best when pulling Snook out of mangroves and docks. Fluro is too stiff, it has no stretch and thus can’t take those sudden movements a fish makes… I find it just breaks way too easily. I could careless that a knot holds 1-2 lb more.

Very surprising. I use Trilene XL mono, I wonder how that would have went in the test.

I generally tie a double loop knot to my lures and can usually set my drag at 70% with no trouble, As a general rule I use fluro in 10lb or less for sensitivity as well as bream and estuary perch in aus are very line shy so we have to use fluro in 3/4lb but salt water fishing i generally use 10lb-40lb mono on lures for abrasion resistance I'm glad I watched this because I use Barkly vanish alot and probably won't be anymore haha

I would suggest you to take a measurement with a micrometer before this strength test, i have a micrometer and some times i found difference, 0.205mm in the sticker spool but with the micrometer 0.24mm. This fake numbers makes me to change line

Are you creating a baseline for each spool before testing? You realize the actual breaking strength of the line could be different than the marketed rating on the spool right?

I had a 1.5oz lure that popped off a 20lb line on my surf rod. Dont know why it broke off

I would really be interested for a test with Orvis big game floro leader material. I know it's not a popular line but I have discovered it to have what seems to be comparable strength and abrasion resistance to mono.
