Wow, what memories! Not only because of Knot’s Landing (which I was hooked on at the time), but also because in 1981 I took my firstborn son to preschool at that 2-story house on McLennan that you see from the cul-de-sac on Crystalaire (aka Seaview). There were a few mornings that film crews were present for exterior shots, and someone would tell us not to look toward the cameras, just go about our business and be as quiet as possible. One morning, the director yelled “Action!” and Joan Van Ark (Valene) came running out of her house yelling “Abby! Abby!” They did a few takes, then wrapped. It was kind of fun to watch them at work. Thanks for posting this!

Kenny and Ginger’s house was always my favorite. It had a much different look from the others.

I happened to drive by the houses the other day and that house has a lot of construction going on. Not sure if they were just doing the inside or the outside or both.

It's interesting that this video premiered on this date, because 34 years ago at this very moment as I write this, Constance McCashin's last full in-person episode was airing (I saw a preview of it during one of my breaks at work, and I heard the words "Greg, I'm dying" in that promo, and that got me all wound up, because I hoped that the Laura character would not be killed off, but unfortunately it was).
@josebro3522 жыл бұрын
Constance is a licensed therapist now in my home state of Massachusetts. She decided to break from Hollywood and help others instead. She's a great person!

Thanks for the upload !! Why do they call it seaview circle ..When you can't see the sea .I will invite Jill Bennett for Dinner.. xd If I were the owner..I would not change one single thing with those houses..!! Xd
@pokergalpoker Жыл бұрын
This is certainly memory lane. Not sure if you know this but were the real owners at the time of shooting ever inside when they did an outside scene or did they all have to leave their homes and when the characters would walk inside from the outside, would they really walk into the real home. I realize once inside it was a set on a soundstage but just wondering if they ever did walk inside the real house and they cut the minute they were inside.
@jokeroneninesevenzero Жыл бұрын
Most likely the owners were home when filming. They were probably asked to stay inside while filming. They probably did a small bit of filming on the inside, but most likely everything interior was on a sound stage.

So is the "Fairgate/MacKenzie" house under renovation, or is that white siding intentional?
@jokeroneninesevenzero2 жыл бұрын
No, not under renovation. The house has been painted white.

@@jokeroneninesevenzero Oh. It's funny because on every other video I've seen with someone doing a tour of the culdesac I always noticed that Karen's house was the only house that never changed and still looked the way it did in the pilot. I guess someone would've redone it eventually. Also, I couldn't see Kenny and Ginger's house. Was it behind that hedge? There are so many trees that weren't there in the 80s. You did a great job with this BTW.
@jokeroneninesevenzero2 жыл бұрын
@@josebro352 Yes. That house has a lot of overgrown trees. There are always cars parked on the street so it will looked crowded and different from when they were filming.
@TF80s Жыл бұрын
Wow, it really does look tiny compared to how it looked on the actual show.
@jokeroneninesevenzero Жыл бұрын
Yes. With no cars parked on the street and the position of the camera, it definitely looks bigger.
@gordonpiercey942610 ай бұрын
I think they used wide angle camera lenses when they filmed scenes. They did it on Dallas as well to make the Southfork scenes, including the house....to look bigger.
@jokeroneninesevenzero10 ай бұрын
Probably, it also looks bigger with no cars parked on the street.

When I first started doing KZfaq I was using my phone and it's old. It doesn't have a great camera. I started using a GoPro a couple of months after I filmed this. It is shaky, but I was just starting out.

A lot has changed in 30 years. Probably when they were filming the real owners were under a contract not to change the look, but now it is just a regular neighborhood. Her house might have been in the process of being painted, that is why it's all one color.
