Welcome back to the series where we try new things together and see what happens! Where we do all the things we're not supposed to do and see how it goes!
Today I'm going to have a go at the Clean-Back Alpha Technique!
This video was inspired by the talented @Knotting_Addict 's work. You can check out her Instagram here to see all of her beauties as well as her tutorial first-hand! (see her highlights!) :

If I want a clean back I use curved tip scissors and that normally does a pretty good job of cleaning it up

I make my knots pretty loose on alphas just bc it helps me keep my edges and rows straighter😁

i used to tie super tight, but it started destroying my pinkies. so i moved to doing loser. i just pull quickly and gently until it goes to the top of where i need it. im my experience, bracelets are made faster this way. the bracelets and keychains are now bendy instead of being stiff

I knot so tight that I can a hold a work in progress at the start of the bracelet and it sticks straight out

Can you make an easy to follow tutorial on the “bookmark bracelet” which has a hole in the top for a tassel?? Please please pretty please. 😀 ....but not using a dark color like black or navy blue. I’ve seen so many tutorials using those colors and I can’t tell what the heck is going on. Lol 🙂

Ooh yes my favorite bracelet series! This technique still confuses me a little, is it just basically flat alpha technique except instead of putting the string you don't need loosely in the back, you keep doing the flat alpha thing with that string in between first half and second half of your knot for however many rows you need?
@MegMakesCrafts
@MegMakesCrafts 3 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly. The original technique that knotting_addict created is slightly different in how she moves strings when she’s done the row with them but it is essentially the flat alpha technique!

Holy shie I know you tie your knots tightly but the tapping on it really showed just how much (I enjoyed the asmr part a little too much)

So, at 13:53, you point out the black shadow on the edge of the back and it's because you didn't pull the black string through. Through what? I have a shadow and don't understand what to do differently. I have to do a normal straight edge technique knot (without pulling the strings through) or it'll poke out at the end, just like in a flat alpha, you do a normal color change at the end or it pokes through. By the way, my alphas make a sound too!
@MegMakesCrafts
@MegMakesCrafts 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, it took so long for me to respond, I had to find time to actually sit and watch this back to make sure I was answering you correctly. So what you'll see me do on some of the other colour changes is when I reach the point that I dropped the colour out, I actually pull it fully through to the front of the bracelet before I start making even the first half of the knot on the row below. In that spot I didn't, I did the half blue knot AND THEN pulled the black in to lay across. This means the black string actually had to wrap around the blue string from the first half of the knot before coming up, which seems small but creates enough space that you get that shadow. The other way, you pull it through first so the string doesn't have to wrap around anything before being re-introduced.
