5:13 "It's a pistol and the bottle, it's the drugs and it's the throttle" Damn the melancholy of her voice is Katana sharp. That line is up there in her delivery. My word, you just don't hear words put together and sung with ... what she's got.

@@PF-Fly dude you are so right. She inspired me to write a song just listening to her and learn her song. I sent it to her in appreciation of her work. I had her on repeat for 2 days. I hope she can survive her demons tho. A tender heart and that kinda pain don't make for good outcomes. I sure hope her show on the 18th of March in Nashville(sold out already) gives her some good connections and she can keep movin up. There are few voices that cut your heart like that with so much intonation. .... I keep imagining a duet with Shakey Graves - Roll the Bones song review on this channel. He is another Wayyyyyyyyyy under rated player. It would be a massive hit and people would wonder where the hell they have been hiding. This version of The Night is better recording and every bit as good... and the end you can see the chord changes really easily and her second finger action she uses to vary the chords. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g6imnchnrdLLiJ8.html

“Johnny” isn’t some Johnny come lately, she’s referring to the whiskey, Johnny Walker. He called, meaning she wants a drink, but fought it, she told Mr Walker to go home.
@nunya68742 жыл бұрын
Your not wrong but I genuinely feel it’s a double entendres. 100% on purpose if you listen to the rest of her catalog. Like myself (17yrs clean n sober) most people have jst as much of an addiction to the opposite sex as we do to drugs and alcohol. Veryyyyyy often the are one in the same or one leads to the other. Really think that’s what she’s trying to say. When you can’t have one (bcause your sober) you reach for the other, which has its own consequences sometimes heading right back to that bottle

JP-A1A I'm not sure what rock I've been under here in small town Tennessee, but I just recently learned about her and Johnny Walker , the whiskey was exactly what I thought the first time I heard the song. She is straight from the heart real, her music, voice, and poetry. Thanks for the redirect to her music. Her voice is real and is her speaking voice. Having lived a similar background in the country a fourth generation horseman I get it. She's right about knowing people who had pistols and drinking because nothing else to do. So many of those stories, sad songs yet to be sung. In the 90's as many if not more drugs in the country than the city because they were cheap highs for stuck broke young people out of work coming from dirt poor families. Plenty of misadventure while high resulting in broken lives and families. Lots of people will get it and want more and more of her music. She is absolutely the real deal. She's a gem for sure.

Michael, I came across this channel a little while ago and I love what you do here so please know you are appreciated (as if the 231k subscribers doesn't help). How you speak to your audience and the way you were moved by this song is an indication that you are a wonderful human. Thank you. And I do not even play an instrument.

You know it's real when you can ignore the urge to place yourself in the song and just listen to the artist's story. The authenticity is not only visceral, but palpable.

Powerful stuff and unfortunately relatable. Substance abuse is an unforgiving, relentless animal that keeps coming back regardless of how much you hate the habit. It has taken many friends and family, my brother being the most difficult loss. Stay strong and you'll make it through. Over 500 comments.. You have everyone's love and support, mine especially. Immaculate song writing, stay strong you got this
