fingers crossed, it adds up fast. Your advice about buying property is priceless, especially about water, and a working well. My sister had to put in well on their mountain property, it was expensive even way back in the 1990's. You are in my prayers for the best outcome.

I don’t think it is your fault. It is the the Realtor. That is something that should have been disclosed before sale. In our state of Oregon we have laws that will protect the buyer on things like this. I would at least check into that also. Good Luck and keep the videos coming with more great information. 😊🙏🏼

Howdy from west Texas! Love your upbeat attitude when facing a possible big setback. Pray your old well can be salvaged.

Looks like you have a good efficient well guy and sounds like this is the person that you're going to go with no matter what you have to end up doing. Keep his number on speed dial or close for the entire time that you own the property. He will be a fountain of information for you if you have any small problems or even just hiccups or even to check with if you do decide to build your forever home there and decide to build an additional well or make some additions to the property and feel you need more water pressure or something someplace he will help you with how you can do that because he knows exactly what's there from the beginning. We bought an old house with an old well and did fine with it for 20 years, then it went dry and we had to drill a new well. All that compounded information helped us a lot. Shannon I do believe you will have some kind of a pressure tank on any kind of a well and pump system ours looks very similar to your old one it could look a little different and I know I'm farther into this than you probably want to know right now but when you get your new pump installed and they have it all together ask this good well guy that explains things well to explain to both of you ongoing maintenance. If you need to check the pressure in the pressure tank. Periodically and if so how often and just mark it on your calendar and be sure you do it. Good luck with your venture sounds like you're learning like the rest of us do sometimes just one thing at a time you think you do your homework I found out you didn't study quite hard enough for the test. Its amazing what you learn especially about water when you purchase land. The rest is easier than the water with all of the government rules about ground water. I purchased land a while back with a well on it. Guess what it is dry and rural water is not available. My solution is that I will have to haul water and store it in a 3000 gal tank and refill as needed😢. But, you learn to adapt and move on. Good luck on making you existing well work. 🤞🏻

It's a shame that the seller wasn't required to disclose the information about the water source to the buyer. It would've saved you a lot of heartache. That is something that the average person wouldn't even think to ask, especially since their was already a well on the property. What a shame. Very informative vid. You are right that you can’t assume the old well is gonna work for you. Do you have alternative water sources? We had a good well on our place when we bought it, but it was the only water source. When the electricity goes off, we have no water. Gas generator like we have drinks gasoline, so only useful if we can run it about an hour a day. We were delighted when an adjacent wooded property came available with a spring on it. It is one of our fall backs. Two of our neighbors water sources, one a shallow well, dried up in a drought. It is not a bad investment to have a quality deep well dug. Ours is about 425 feet with submersible pump.

Kyle, I have lived in the country my entire life and have pulled many of my parents and now my own pumps and put new ones in. You can watch KZfaq videos on putting your own pump in it is very very simple. Also 50gal a min you could use on a major farm. My brother in law has 12 horses on 20 acres and a pool on 9 gal a min just buy a 5,000gal tank for holding use your submersible pump down hole to get water consistently going to tank. Use your 1hp pump to run water from the tank you wherever it is going. Super simple setup I know it sounds confusing but with one video it will all make since. I bought a rural 5-acre homestead years ago. My well liner was fine. The problem was it had to be heavily treated as it was in deep in limestone and orange water is not good! After that we remodeled the 1 1/2 story house, we brought down the old silo because our insurance would skyrocket as we had a young child and there was a perceived danger. Then we removed all the old field fencing, and a friend dug a pond for us. We removed all the barb wire fences and T posts. Our goats Bonnie, Charolette and Cutie Pie roamed the 5 acres and never left the property unless I called them to cross the road and go "creek jumping" with me and my son. We'd bring a picnic lunch and sit along the creek. I once had to leave the property for a week because my mom was in the hospital. My girlfriend came to care for the goats in my absence. Again, the goats never left the little homestead in my absence! They were sure happy when they heard my pickup truck coming down the country road, their ears were a flappin' when they were running alongside my truck! Singin' Ma Ma Ma! Moral of the story, it was all worth it. My son is now 22 and we have many happy memories of the little homestead adventures. I wish you the best, it will be the best time of your lives and will be well worth it!

Go get a Dowser and witch for your water. Sometimes they find water that the drillers don't. I wiched for my well and i GET LOT-SO water.

I'm glad you found this guy. Although my casing was replaced, ( not sure if that is an option with keeping your well? Even the cost of new casing and pumps and filtering system, it was easily 70% cheaper , than a new well..

This is what my husband and I did for 43 years..it’s hard, back breaking work.. hot in the summer, cold in the winter.. he would pull and I walked out the pipe.. we finally got a machine, called an UP Eazy, that if we could get it around the casing, it could pull the pipe and pump out..Some of the equipment they used , was just coming into play after we weren’t in the business anymore.. hopefully your well that’s already there, will prove to be a good well and safe to use.. if it was cased properly , or the casing isn’t damaged it should be..your advise is very good and people should really do the research..

We live in a country area in Queensland Australia. We have rainwater tanks for all our water needs. There are 4 in total..totalling 60,000 litres. These last us a year even with no rain. Catchment is off the house and the shed. Its then run through two filters to the house ready to drink.

When I purchased my home the well had a submersible pump and a pressure tank inside the house. Twice a year I would add 10 gallons of bleach and using a hose run it thru the plumbing of the house. The iron content was terrible,went thru several washing machines and water tanks. Didn't drink the well water. Kicker also realtor Didn't tell me that as the new owner the septic system needed to be replaced by county standards well needed to be 50 feet from existing well-I was 30 feet. Yes,there is a lot of research when looking for property. Good luck in your ventures

Oh goodness, I pray the old well works out! Very informative video.. hopefully sharing this information will help someone else down the road. 🙏 Even in most areas where you can get rural water there are what's called "impact fees" which can be very costly depending on what area you're in! These are charged due to the impact another customer will impact the infrastructure of the source.

Having a travel trailer you can live in it on the property with out the hook ups, you can haul in water and haul out the black water to a camp site waste dump. That's why they have holding tanks, save paying rent in a park. I've been an owner to 3 different travel trailers since 1979.

This is our home & land & we are learning to work around things. Stay positive God will see U thru all your challenges. Your a cute couple keep making each other laugh. Although not even close to the same situation, I have been in the same position of being smacked with financial "mountains" that were completely unexpected. Ones so big and dramatic that I wasn't sure I'd conquer the challenge. Its so very tough because as someone smart said, "If you don't know, you don't know!" You did not know the exact and unusual questions to ask...you did the best you could with the information you had. So, do exactly what you're doing...keep learning, don't panic, don't be stubborn/hardheaded, keep putting one foot in front of the other/don't give up...and PRAY!!! You are both obviously SMART AND HONORABLE people. Just how concerned you are to spare others your errors proves this. Your love for each other (and your ability to laugh) will be what gets you through. YOU WILL TRIUMPH over this life challenge and be even better people for it. Wells can be tricky things. We had to deal with that when we lived in Oregon. Water is the number one most important thing you must be sure of in order to be self efficient. Praying for a good outcome.

Dutch also had a problem when the cold weather started. Freezing pipes etc. Had to put bales of hay around the trailer to keep it warmer. Hope you can get your house built before next winter!
