I was watching this post as a follow on from you modal videos, and another great 👍 videos on finding the tonal center whereas most of the others who post about guitar scales are suggesting a mechanical and formulaic approach

Usable info, far easier than biting off too much, leaving my box and getting lost. One note left or right, i think i can handle that. I like your visual method referring the circle of 5ths too.

@@zombieguitar Hi Brian, I'm only sad that I didn't find Zombie Guitar earlier, its been a revelation. FYI, I found the channel by chance, somebody reccomended it in a comment section on another channels video so I checked it out. It's strange because I have been watching a very lot of YT guitar videos, but your channel had never appeared in my reccomended videos..

You make some excellent videos, I just joined your site as a free member for now. But I do plan on joining the full access member within a month or two. The best thing about how you teach, is you always stay on topic. I would reccommend adding actual notes in your diagrams. That’s one of things I am trying to tie in is all the notes to each scale. Just a very young Intermediate player, but learning alot from you & a few others on KZfaq 😎
@zombieguitar

I generally keep the talk about specific notes to the written lessons that go along with the videos. I try to keep the fretboard diagrams to just "shapes", since everything on the guitar is movable. I do agree though that it is very helpful to know the exact notes of the fretboard too though!

I hadn't thought about locating those 2 notes, the tritone B-F, and thinking about the chords that have those notes - and really just on the bottom 3 or 4 strings. That would be good for the chords Am add9 & Am9, all Cmaj7's and Csus4, all Dm chords especially Dm6, all Em chords, all F chords especially Fmaj7#11, and all G chords especially G7', G9, G13.

Brian you are so smart, this is making a lot of good sense, and will give me more great sounds to find in any 1-4-5 to start with, but I can see that this exercise is almost endless. I need to memorize the notes on the fret board what would be the best exercise or lesson you have for that? Thanks
@zombieguitar

This is not your typical lesson about how to memorize all the notes on the fretboard, but it's the way that worked for me. I always will suggest to learn the fretboard this way: www.zombieguitar.com/easily-memorize-all-the-notes-on-the-fretboard-with-the-immersion-method/

I don't understand when you go to the G chord and say: "I know I have to jump out of the pentatonic scale in that direction." My question is why does the jump start from the C note?
@zombieguitar
@zombieguitar 4 жыл бұрын
Because the note 'B' is one fret lower then 'C'. The note B is a chord tone of both the G major chord (G B D) and the E minor chord (E G B).
