Can't thank you enough for this video. My wife lost a folder with years of collected photos, due to some weird computer glitch. Your method is the only way to retrieve them back. Helpful hint: If you have a space in the Folder name like - [My Folder] - you have to put the name of the folder in quotation marks like "My Folder" or else you will get a "There was an error parsing your command."

i don't typically leave comments, but i felt this was a special case. when trying to free up space on my ssd, i moved 203gb of footage to my hdd, and then deleted what was on the ssd. unfortunately, this deleted everything. tried a couple of different options to no avail, and was having difficulties with wfr until i found this video. your breakdown of specific commands greatly simplified my experience, and, after some trial and error (involving the recovery of nearly 7000 useless files), i finally ran an extensive scan (which took >6 hours), and i ultimately was able to recover all of my footage. thank you for this video, i greatly appreciate it!

I accidentally deleted folder with 130GB of very important data. followed your instructions, scanning of the disk was stuck at 99% for about 2 hours, but I checked task manager and Winfr application was alive eating 15% of the processor power so I didn`t cancel anything and just waited . and now it started recovering the data . I can tell this video worked for a lot of people, and it did for me as well. Sadly, my important folder I deleted was on an SSD which...I had to unfortunately learn overwrites and corrupts deleted files pretty much instantly... so I lost everything. Massive L for me, but your video still worked absolutely well for recovering the files, and I don't want to make people think my loss means that this strategy doesn't work or anything.

@@blackandwhitebharathistory That will always happen unless you try to recover immediately after deleting. If you try to recover the file to the same drive, you're over writing it. Recover to a USB stick...

If anyone wonders whether there exists a perfect technical instruction video, look no further than this one. Bravo...perfectly explained and helpful. I had accidentally deleted over 12,000 files in one of those moments where I knew I goofed the instant I hit 'Enter'. Astrophotography is my hobby...these are essential (338gb) image processing artifacts. I accidentally deleted my personal folders permanently along with others which I wanted to delete, started panicking 😢😮 and shocked, searched on KZfaq for recovery of my personal folders ! Thanks for the instructions on how I can use it I am a graphic designer and I had to recover a 17 GB project folder that goes beyond 2018 Only problem is I rely on date modifications and date creations for files and subfolders.. Unfortunately all of them are now dated today March 20th 2023.. Now I don't know the old and new files lol.. But at least I have my deleted files back and working too

@@urfavninoo oh yea, it didnt actually work in the end. I wrote this comment before I tested it out. Sorry, you may need to install recovery softwares! but it depends what type of file you are trying to recover.

I have 2 SSD, in which two different windows OS is installed and 3 HDD in my PC. I use to change (Remove the cable connection) the SSD sometime in which windows OS is installed. After changing it one of my HDD wasn't showing in Disk Management, it was offline. So i convert it to Online mode after which the allocated partition was gone. It only show 931.51 unallocated. There was around 700 GB data in this HDD. What to do so that this HDD is back with partition and data. Or How can i get all data back. I had a similar problem for Video folder, but unless you're using something like Cloud, the Document folder is in the C drive. But you have to make sure that you write the address to the folder. What I did was to right-click my desired folder, copy address, and then I pasted the address to see the full address. For example Users/name/Videos/myfolder... Also if your address has spaces in it you have to put it in "quotations".

Thanks for introducing this new app from MS. It's about time MS has such tools natively rather than relying on 3rd party apps. These should be part of Win tools since 3.1. Would you know whether WinFR is able to recover entire partition? The other tool I'm extremely glad that MS has introduced is the Winget command. Took MS 23 years to implement Winget after Linux has implemented theirs in 1998. TQ

thanks for the video. is it enough to just put the last folder in the folder path when you want to recover everything within that folder? the example used in microsofts own guide uses top folder and all subfolders (example): Winfr C: E: /regular /n \Users\\Documents\ im having some issues when trying to use the full folder path as shown above

Hey man, if you read my comment and knows any useful move please help me. I graduated my master like 4 months ago, and since then i have never entered or opened my colleges stuffs (which i made a folder containing every ebooks, pdfs, assignments, practicals etc), and since then i have updated my windows several times (windows 11) and last night i tried to open my college stuffs and all went missing, i don't know why, i feel so sad all my works and research pdfs are gone. But opening my MS word, and on the recent open folders i can see some of my files and works, but it says, "We can't reach that folder right now. I had a virus and wanted to do a computer restart with out losing any data, pictures and documents. But as it did the restart it wiped everything away including programs. So it was like getting a computer right out of the box. I lost so many pictures and documents that I need back. Is this a way of getting them back? I don’t want to try anything new until I’m sure that this would work
