He’s always been amazing but the schemes he comes up with now are more complex and flow better. 2021 Em would kill 2001 Em in a battle. That’s not an insult, 2021 Em is probably the only person who could do it. 😂

I'm from Cape Town South Africa and when I saw Em live here in 2014 he changed the lyrics to say "Remember when we met in Cape Town" people went nuts, so whenever I hear him say "Remember when we met in Denver" I get those same chills and it takes me back man

@@shermanelder2354 lol, no. Eminem's on a completely different level to Jay-Z. They both went hard on Renegade, Eminem smashed it though, and he's only gotten better since then. He's unquestionably the best ever. You could argue there are others who run him close at something specific, but he excels at pretty much everything. That's what makes him unique, plus he's probably had the biggest influence in making rap more appealing to the mainstream.

To me, this song is one of Em's best because it's one of the few times we really get a peek into who Em really is. Same with Mockingbird, When I'm Gone, or Hailie's Song. Those songs you can tell Em just put everything he had onto the page.

I did hear about someone breaking into Eminem's house while his security were asleep. So Eminem fought the intruder and held him down until the cops arrived and the guy that broke into his house name was Matthew. I love Eminem too, but I don't want to cause physical harm towards him and pray for him to be ok. I feel bad that all celebrities have dealt with obsessive fans who take it too far.

The aspect of Stan and how he goes further and further off the rails as time goes by without a response is an interesting point to consider for the listener. It gives a glimpse of how he sees it as he's being blown off or ignored. His mental state is declining, causing him to become more and more unstable and irrational and not realize that Slim gets thousands of letters, some similar to how Stan is writing, to try and read plus respond to on top of the crazy busy life he has as a mega star. It's a really insightful way of putting us in the shoes of both sides and understanding how the disconnect happens unintentionally and how heartbreaking it can be regardless.

As a gay person who grew up listening to Eminem, I admittedly never saw that line as homophobic. In the context of the song, I always took his disgust to be from the fact that Stan was seemingly so obsessed with him. It's interesting how others interpreted it!

Yeah I never read anything gay/homophobic into it. First off I don't feel it is based at all on gay feelings on Stan's end rather it's just a part of his growing obsession and wanting to be a part of Eminem's life to an extreme degree with no sexual connotations and in turn Eminem being put off by this level of obsessions. Though even if you do read it as Stan being gay for him trying to force your feelings onto someone that isn't interested(since Eminem is known to be straight) is a creepy behaviour so even if it was read that way then the response line was still not necessarily homophobic. Pretty much you would have to take the worst possible interpretation out of multiple to assume it was coming from there. If it was an obsessed female fan saying such things I would still be freaked out and would cause me not want to meet them.

I think a lot of people saw it as Eminem saying he doesn't want to meet a gay person, especially one with a crush on him. Again, I never read it as homophobic personally. I just think that's why some people interpret it that way

@@brett8259 Yeah I understand that's how people are interpreting it, but in my opinion it's the least likely interpretation to be the intended one and most uncharitable way to interpret it. Plus that if Stan was gay given that it's written in the second letter where Stan has already moved from just a super fan to pretty crazy fan territory when he starts talking about them needing to be together again it would be creepy even if it was a straight female fan sending a letter like that and ending it that way to a straight male artist. Like you have to throw away the whole context of how and when Stan says it to read Eminems response line to be read as likely being homophobic.

Yo Knox May I just say I'm not a huge fan of your earlier music but I'm hooked on your last album you'd dropped 3 years ago I think and that's my honesty I ain't gon BS you not when I admire love the way you delve deep into significant in depth intricate detail to the best of your ability I love how you explain the shit behind each sick bar he spits out and I love your synonymical ways that describe the flows of his intertwined words. And I knew about the 4 bar blocks or lines with 2 3 syllables per word and I get the pattern from A and A to the B and his 30 different styles and flows I love the triple word descriptives like with the Rover and Range Rover I love your reactions when you're mind has been blown away and I respect your honesty when someone has done a real lame diss attempt that had just a meh reaction I love your content and your channel I subscribed 2 days ago it was the Ren Hi Ren that got me into your style of explaining what Eminem's lyrics mean cos even some I didn't know what they mean and now I have a lot more knowledge due to your understanding of the Rap God's metaphorical way of putting his bars together and not many artists in the hip hop industry that use the words Anti Christ Antidisestablishmentarianism and the fag word so freely I just loved his humorous Insane Clown Posse or ICP. In this Bitch is one of his songs I just so love Eminem and his music and the reason why I don't find his parental advisory lyrics offensive is cos I'm a Gen X and Gen X don't stay the heck down especially when theys beaten they's get the heck back up no matter how Fcuked up they's carry on just living a life of freedom now keep doing these reaction of hip hop videos mate 👊🤘

Stan is a great song. It isn't just rap, its poetry put to music. If you want to hear some more great story telling check out a few songs by Joyner Lucas. The first is "Ross Capicchioni", the second is "Keep it 100", and the third is "I'm sorry". Joyner does a great job in these songs at handling perspective, I would love to see your reaction to those three.
