@HenDawgz, I was a BIG time Jordon fan. When he retired the first time, it was almost like someone in the family died. EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE, Kind of lost a little interest in the NBA. Michael was just that much better than any other SINGLE player. He wasn't the smartest, but that's a discussion for another time. Anyway... You have to understand something about that time period in our country. Something Big had been going on the last three decades. Vietnam, The Assassinations of JFK and RFK, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, George Wallace being shot, riots and cities burning, an out of control intelligence agency in the CIA, an FBI that spied on the private lives of prominent citizens and politicians, a gathering fear of the communist threat of Russia and China, an almost nuclear war over Cuba, Presidents caught in scandal, an incompetent President destroying the economy, sweeping legislation being passed establishing new medical assistance as well as increased military spending, civil rights,, and endless investigations by Congress into government corruption. Cult leaders led their congregations into mass suicide. Religious leaders were caught in scandals. The nation was struggling with growing drug addiction. It was a time filled with fear and mistrust. Underneath all of that was racial tension because people were now living under the new Civil Rights Laws. Laws that required that every American would be treated equally. Most Americans made an effort to adapt, but after all of the unrest of the 60's there was still a lot of mistrust. Some people did better than others. The NBA when Larry and Magic came into the League was a perfect reflection of everything that was happening in our country. Due to the serious drug problem in the NBA, network television shied away from covering it in prime time. Revenues in the League were way down and owners were struggling to keep their teams afloat. Larry and Magic reflected the tension of what was happening in our country in the midst of a League riddled with the same maladies infecting our whole society. And we watched them play. They both played better than anyone had ever seen. During the season networks on Sunday's began to cover Boston games early and then switch to the Lakers game right after. America began to tune in. Me personally, I loved them both. I'm from Charleston South Carolina. I have no desire to ever visit a place that shakes constantly or visit a place that stays frozen 5 months out of the year. I enjoyed watching them play, but especially when they played each other. You could tell they respected each other but neither would budge an inch. They became friends when they did a commercial together at Larry's house playing one on one on Larry's backyard court. The whole country noticed their friendship as well. I'm not sure how much I'm about to say is actually 100% accurate. I'm sure a lot of it is, but I'm not sure exactly how much. Larry and Magic didn't just save the NBA, they helped save America's soul. Magic and Bird had the humbleness that came from real life struggle, and they had the integrity that struggle brings to their character. Neither saw color, they just saw people. Larry was more private, but you might could share a beer with him in your favorite bar when he came to your town to destroy your team. He would be just as friendly like you'd known each other all your lives. Magic just wanted to see people happy, so he smiled. Alot. He was always involved in children's charities at a very personal level. It's hard to not like someone who smiles all the time, loves kids, and wants to hug your neck when you bump into him at the club. That was Magic. But when they played, they were fierce warriors putting everything they had in them on the line. It made you want to play. Has that ever happened to you? I'm an old man now, so my playing days are done, but when I watch these videos with you... I want to play. It can be hard getting ten people together to run full court, so a lot of us started going to gyms. No one could be excluded because of Civil Rights laws that were passed so we played together. And struggled with and against each other. And learned to respect each other. And became friends with each other. That's how they helped save America's soul. And then came Michael. He was so explosive, and graceful, and confident, and determined, and really, really, really good looking. He dressed always on the edge of conservative norms with just enough personal flare that he created an entirely new look everyone wanted to emulate. He made being bald cool. He had his own shoes. He had his own clothing line. He had his own cologne. We all wanted to eat his Big Mac. We saw his movies. We all wanted to "Be Like Mike." Michael was such an international star that people on the other side of the planet would sometimes weep when he visited their country, and they were in his presence. Think about that for a second. He was adored by people that were not of our culture. That's how big of an icon he was. The entire country had been ripped apart by internal strife, then comes along Magic and Larry to help show us the way, and then Michael comes along and dazzles us all. And when Michael retired the first time it broke our hearts because we knew something that made us all cheer together was coming to an end, and we all saw it. When Mike came back from retirement the entire country cheered. Literally. It made every newscast in the country. It was all anyone could talk about. As for me, I knew it would be one hell of a ride, so I restocked all my game junk food called up my friend Dan and found out what the remaining of the Bulls season was. The greatest period of the NBA was not yet through.

For your interest, Jordan rarely went for 3 pointers in his games and has explained in an interview why. He stated that he actively chose not to shoot more threes or work on shooting them better because he did not want to develop a habit of waiting at the 3 point line for someone to give him the ball as that's not the kind of playstyle he was looking for and wanted to go in, penetrate, dunk, all that.

When he started actually shooting 3s towards the end of his Bulls career he shot around 40%. He had 3 seasons shooting 3 or more 3's per game. His lowest 3pt % in those 3 seasons was .374... his career avg 3s attempted per game was 1.7. Some seasons he averaged less than 1 three attempted per game and several were as low as 0.6 attempts.

I grew up in Chicago in the 90's when Jordan came back. The whole city was electrified; no one in Chicago thought it was going to be anything less than the return of the master. Honest confession, I have not been able to watch NBA games for years. I was spoiled being raised watching the 90s bulls, and nothing has had that same energy and artistry to get me excited. It is like everything now is moving a step slower than what I was raised to expect.

That last shot "push off" is not even close to a push off if you really look at it. MJ did have his hand on Russell's back, which was allowed back then, but if you follow that hand, it's going down so he can grab the ball back from the cross over move. Russell's ankles got so broken that he fell down by his own moment. And the whole sequence before that is incredible. They are down 3 with like a minute to go, he scores to bring them within 1, he steals the ball from Malone on the ensuing possession and then comes down to hit that shot to give them the lead all while running on fumes from having to play almost the whole game and because nobody else was really effective offensively. Just simply the GOAT.

You have to realize Jordan didn’t grow up with the 3 point shot. They didn’t even implement the 3 into the NBA until a few years before Jordan was a rookie, and he didn’t have a 3 pt line in college either. Players back then had to develop a 3 pt shot as adults. Bullied his team to be better and the Bulls went 72-10 beating the Seattle SuperSonics in the finals. Kobe and Mike were big brother little brother. Mike’s speech at Kobe’s tribute sheds light on it. 24:38 . ..You are exactly correct! The second threepeat Jordan was not as quick or as athletic as the early 90's Jordan. But he was more measured and more technical with his approach to the game. And his foot work became even more impeccable. That's one of the major reasons why Jordan is the GOAT to me. He had mastered the game to the point where he was able change his approach to the game while still being highly effective. That is extremely difficult to do. I have seen many great players game's diminish with age after their athleticism fades, because they were not fundamentally sound.

No player like him with a big hand like the ball was made for him. He inspires the whole NBA and every game watching him playing is full of excitement and often seeing something new every night with no holding back. Nothing like the old day game, watching NBA nowaday is like watching a 3 point shooting contest, with no surprising factor, little to no post up game, little to no defense and lot of ti ctac toe foul calling. I was watching NBA before, while, and after Jordan retired for the first time. The media doubted Jordan would come back and reclaim his throne because Shaq was in the league, Penny Hardaway, and a few others were on the scene. Other players were upset, mad, afraid, and truly pissed because they knew their chance to win a ring was gone now that MJ had returned. All the ones that has followed MJ from his beginnings like me knew that he would claim his throne again. It was a lot of mixed emotions about his return but MJ took it as a challenge and turned those doubters into believers.

I think most people were expecting Jordan to still be perfect when he came back. People had seen enough MJ to know that betting against him was a bad idea. I thought (wrongly) that he was unbeatable. That's why everyone was shocked when Nick Anderson stole the ball from him in the playoffs. Apparently even the human prototype for athletic ability needs to practice to beat the best. That being his only failure amid an ocean of invincibility is virtual proof to lazy, talented people that no matter how talented you are, you have to keep working on your craft and practice a lot to be on top.

I wanted to add: the layup you're referring to vs the Lakers was Jordan's 13th consecutive field goal without a miss (only Bull to score during it). It's an NBA Finals record. So the layup was definitely one of those "you had to see it in the moment" plays to understand the full context/impact. He also said that he wasn't trying to showboat. If you look under the basket, Sam Perkins actually put the hand up but did not jump. MJ respected Sam's lefthanded shot blocking abilities( both teammates @ UNC). He read Sam's hand, changed his mind mid flight, switched hands( ball away from defender) .

Mike has been my favorite since I was born in 95 😂🤷🏾‍♂️. I watched space jam when I was 2 and believed he could really jump far and stretch his arms out lmao. Then I got older and researched him myself and really felt like he was the best at that point. What makes him the greatest is that he never said he was. He really let the world speak for him. There are a lot of goats and for different reasons but overall, he’s number 1 always .

When he came back for last 13 or so games of his first season back he was flat and out of shape but still far better than anyone on the court but he was low key written off after that showing and he even said that propelled him even more to get back to form and show them all he was the same if not better than when he left. The following season was the 72-10 season so I think that speaks for itself!

What people doing realize about the switching of the hands on the layup vs the Lakers is that Jordan anticipates what the defense will do. He thought Perkins was going to go up and contest and if you watch closely you will see that Perkins pulls away from going up to block the shot.

After his first 3p his father was murdered which really hurt him. He needed a break so he did what his dad wanted him to do originally and play baseball. All of his training and workouts were different he wasn't built for basketball exactly Morpher baseball for the end of the 94-95 season he played 17 games with the number 45. He says it's bad luck now. The very next year after working out really hard in the offseason they went 72 and 10 and won the championship he was the MVP of the league of the finals. This is where he had extreme fundamentals, acute senses and still more athleticism than anybody in the league just a little less than his Peak. The 95-96 Bulls is the greatest team of all time. They had role-players who did their part and then they had Paxton Steve Kerr. Back then when a player like that would come on the floor they would say that they were three point specialist LOL. Teams only average shooting like eight or nine three-pointers in that time. So to make the case you had the greatest rebounder of all time with Dennis Rodman whose Main weakness was offensive skills but he made up for it by being a beast on defense, averaging 14 rebounds per game period and then you had the 7-foot wingspan point forward in Scottie Pippen. Scotty and Mike used to have contest with in the game to see who could get the most steals. Now you have your lockdown perimeter and Wing players the greatest rebounder of all time, role-player big men like Luc Longley who did his part mainly taking up space grabbing a rebound and putback. Now before I tell you how this is the best team let me tell you about Toni kukoc. He was drafted during the Dream Team Origins from Spain I believe.? This dude what's the second best offensive player on the team. You heard me not Scotty. Phil Jackson Drew up plays for Toni kukoc that same year to hit two different or three different game winners. He was European basketball's best player at that time who came to America. Now you have your rebounder you have your role-players you have your Defender and you have European basketball styles well before the days of Joker and Dirk Nowitzki. Now if you stop and look at this team you have almost all the Parts you need. What's your main weakness? Two things. Pippen and kukoc could shoot okay and score okay but they were more of a get the ball to him at his spot as they get set and Scotty's main weakness was he couldn't create off the dribble. The only thing you're missing is scoring and that guy who can create his own shot. The guy who can take over a game late the guy who was faster, quicker, competes ]1 harder defense and jumps higher than anyone else

Jordan was my favorite player and I watched his games in 90s. When he retired the 1st time he was already considered the GOAT by a lot of people and the press and with just the 3 championships. Of course there were some others that didn’t think so and it was a closer argument then and subjective. After he came back and had another three-peat and proved he was still the best player in the league, that’s when everyone pretty much agreed he was the GOAT for sure. I just wished he would have never left for baseball and would have had 2 more championships

Not only has MJ more rings..he always played a crucial part during the finals. 6 times Final MVP says it all. If you look at his statistics regarding points per game you will find that he averaged even more points per game in play-off game versus regular season games and furthermore in the Finals games compared to all others. He had a killer instinct and above all, the ability to amp up his game at a moments notice. MJ was special because he needed challenges and obstacles to overcome in order to thrive. Much like art and creativity themselves need those things in order to flourish. MJ certainly was one of the most competitive athletes of all time and an artist for that matter. His game once was described as Ballet while in the air and Phil Jackson former coach of the Chicago Bulls called him the "Michelangelo" of Basketball. Nevertheless all that came from his working mentality. He never missed practice once despite his superstar status. He was more like the first to be there and the last one to leave. If you look at not just his NBA career but his life in general, you will realize it appears like being written by a Hollywood writer. Playing Basketball as a kid, he got beaten by his older brother everytime, which initiated his desire to work hard and win in the first place. No Jordan family member ever surpassed the height of 6.1. He tried out for the basketball varsity team during his sophomore year; at 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 m), he was deemed too short to play at that level. The following summer, he grew four inches (10 cm) and eventually reached 6.6. In College he made the game-winning jump shot in the 1982 NCAA Championship game against Georgetown, which was led by future NBA rival Patrick Ewing. When he entered the NBA he quickly became integral in popularizing the NBA around the world becoming a global cultural icon in the process. One of the most effectively marketed athletes of his generation, Jordan is known for his product endorsements. He fueled the success of Nike's Air Jordan sneakers, which were introduced in 1984 and remain popular today. After winning three straight Championships he retired from Basketball in 1993, after his Father was murdered while being robbed. He decided to play Baseball, did not really succeed, only to come back in 1995, and being defeated during the Play-Offs by the young team of the Orlando Magic which were led by Shaquuille O`Neal. At this point many people believed he was not the same he used to be. MJ again proved them wrong by winning three consecutive NBA titles again with the Bulls. In the 1996 Finals, Championship winning game six was on Father's Day ironically. During the 1997 Finals MJ played game five with a flu while being almost completely dehydrated so Scottie Pippen had to carry him of court after the game. In both decisive final games in 1993 and 1997, MJ did not hit the Championship winning shot but gave the Assist (John Paxton 1993 and Steve Kerr 1997). And in game six during the 1998 finals he carried the Bulls through the game without Scottie Pippen who had injured his back defending Karl Malone. In the final minute he stole the ball from Malone and then made the game/Championship winning shot against Russell. If you have read this far you have certainly noticed that I did not mention any statistics besides six Championships, because that's what actually counts regarding statistics. During the first six years of his NBA career, MJ was considered the best solo player of the league, but he became a legend only after he and the Bulls started winning Championships.

When Jordan retired that first time after his first 3peat in the summer of 93 everyone considered him the GOAT. When Jordan came back in March of 1995 everyone thought he would win the title and that he was still the GOAT but Jordan came back with only like 17 games left in the 95 regular season and he had been training to play professional baseball. Bulls made the playoffs and MJ had some great moments like his 55 point double nickel game vs the Knicks and a game winner vs the Atlanta Hawks but he was not at his best basketball shape wise. Jordan made some key mistakes and turnovers against the Shaq and Penny Hardaway led Magic in round 2 of the playoffs in 95 and lost that series 4 games to 2. Jordan rededicated himself to getting into basketball shape and working on his skills after this loss resulting in his 2nd 3peat of NBA Championships in 96, 97, and 98. I grew up watching Jordan s a kid and to me he is the GOAT but I respect Kobe Bryant and I feel they tend to overlook his career when talking about the greatest of all time. I have Kobe over Lebron at this point but Lebron is great as well and still playing but Kobe deserves more respect for all he did for the game.

There's no equivalent team in terms of the context in which you presented your question. They also didn't change the rules for Jordan's history with the Pistons. Jordan on muscle and outworked them. They rules got softer more in the 2004 era after the fights were getting out of control, and without Jordan in the league anymore, all the fouls were making the league a eyesore without having a stand out face of the league at that time.
@cyber6sapien
@cyber6sapien 2 жыл бұрын
Yup. Plus the pace of the game was getting too slow. It became too much of a defensive slug fest with teams like the Pistons and the Spurs making the Finals in 2005. So the league changed the rules, making it easier for perimeter players to score and speeding up the tempo. It worked. And that is when you started to see the evolution from a low post offensive game to a perimeter oriented game.

Happy to watch your video, dude! Even more happy that in this generation there are still guys that care about the old bbal and give the greats of old respect and even more that could compare Mike with Kobe and have a realistic opinion. Kudos to that! That's one of the things that make you different and unique between other peers of yours that are like: "I've never seen MJ but Kobe/Lebron is better". That's simply ridiculous. I'm an MJ fan, watched him throughout the 90's, sufferred when he retired both times, cheered when the bulls got their 2x3...when MJ retired the second time i lost interest because there was noone like Mike...until Kobe matured and started dominating the game - I loved that 2000's. Moves, style, rings...all that's pure crap. What i most loved about Kobe was the fact he got almost the same passion and determination as Mike. And that kept the whole league alive for the real fans. That's why Kobe will be always number 2 for me, because he studied, learned, in some way perfected most of MJ's moves, but most of all because he got the desire and determination to win! And it was obvious when you look at him play! That's why i get angry when people debate Lebron instead of Kobe for the GOAT! And he kept the NBA for most than a decade at a much higher level than it is today! No disrespect to anyone but watching an NBA game today is boring and tiresome...no real will to win, no intense, just a 3-pointer shootout...that's lame! The all-star is unbearable: 8 guys with their hands scratching their buts while the other two decide who will shoot the three first...Great job and watch some 80-90's games. I can't say they are more beautiful to watch but you could definitely feel the intensity back then when players got paid less than half a million per year yet they would go out every night not caring of load management, possible injuries and all other crap. They would still go out prepared to die on the court just for the love of the game, not the money, stats, titles...

The Jordan vs Lebronn Goat debate video is excellent. The pistons were just an annoyance not a catharsis. The worst part of Jordans game was he was an average three point shooter. His only weakness. Also adding these as I watch the video. The dream team video is really good. There is one angle that shows it clearly was not a push off.

Really?......Pistons took down Celtics, Lakers and Bulls early on. The Bulls had to get past them just like Pistons with the Celtics. They were all great teams and MJ was the GOAT.

The 3pt shot wasn't utilized in Jordan's era as much as it was during Kobe's era. Jordan's 3pt % was the league's avg. Jordan avg two 3pt attempts per game,league avg was 9 .today I believe team avg is 21 3pt shots per game. This is why Kobe shot more 3s than Jordan,not because he was a better 3pt shooter

There are plenty of unbelievably phenomenal players throughout the history of the NBA. Russell, Chamberlain, Erving, Bird, Jabar, Johnson, Bryant, James. But Jordan was, and forever will be, in a league all his own. I'm 45 years old, and I'm grateful that I had the privilege of being able to watch *SO* *MANY* of these Bulls games in the '90s. As an audience member, we came to expect this level of excellence out of MJ in EVERY game, and we were rarely disappointed. Michael NEVER slacked, he NEVER settled for "good enough".

Kobe is the ONLY player that Jordan treated like a protege and only smiles when people compare Kobe to him. ABSOLUTELY ANY other player and you will ALWAYS get the Jordan signature head roll. Kobe did a interview and said that Kobe could only be Kobe and he could never be Jordan. Jordan is the absolute goat. Kobe is the ABSOLUTE closest player to ever come close to Jordan. Ever.

I have watched that last shot many times including when it happened - not live but on TV. Back then, minor contact was not a foul like looking cross-eyed at someone is now. No one even considered that being a push off at the time. Now everyone that is familiar with today's rules want to call it a push off. Goes to show how much the game has changed.

Not true. Jordan got plenty of minor contact fouls in his day. That’s the perception but not entirely the truth. The tick tac fouls were definitely called a fist amount back in the day. Several stars from that era are quoted in saying even breathing on mike was called for a foul.

Naw Jordan was great long before Detroit. He owes a bit of gratitude to Phil Jackson. Even though Detroit was knocking him on his ass Mike was still averaging 35. He got pass Detroit by learning how to pass the ball to his teammates. Which ironically is something Kobe had to learn the hard way.

Bro we were all watching the Chicago White Sox minor-league team because he was playing on it. He probably drew more fans to a triple a White Sox game than the Seattle Supersonics we’re drawing all year. Michael Jordan was the biggest thing on earth. He was the biggest star on earth. When he came back nobody expected any less than Michael Jordan. I don’t even know how to describe it in a way that makes sense it’s giving me goosebumps to think about when you watched him play it Wasn’t oh I got 10 on this team or that team like you literally expected him to win every single time and when he didn’t that was the shock. I grew up in Brooklyn New York as a diehard Knicks fan. Patrick Ewing Starks Oakley all them boys we love them we root for them all year all the time except when 23 in red and black came to town. He was that good. Everybody was a Chicago Bulls fan…everybody. I don’t care how diehard a fan you are of another team when Michael Jordan came to town you are a Michael Jordan fan.. End of story. It’s not like today where is this person clutch or is this person clutch nobody talked about Michael being clutch because Michael was the definition of clutch. I don’t even know how to describe it he was the biggest thing on planet earth 🌍

Not a push off. I wish I had the video, but it showed Jordan doing that same pull-up 9 times on different defenders. He made every one, and there was not an offensive foul called on any of them. If anyone fouled there, it was Russell digging into Jordan's chest on the drive. No way Jordan going to shove a 225-pound man to the floor with his weak arm while dribbling lol. Come on bro, a little common sense. Anyway, it has to be blatant to even register for consideration of a call in this critical situation. No one wants a ref deciding a ball game. Hell, Reggie Miller full-fledge shoved Jordan off in full view for a game winner in the 1998 Eastern Finals and no call was made lol.

For your era yeah Spurs as a team but Kobe does an interview and it was Allen Iverson who pushed Kobe to be the best of his era. Speaking of which for athletic players AI, Vince Carter are amazing. However Wilt Chamberlain then MJ were the greatest athletes in the NBA. Please react to Pistol Pete who I think is the greatest true PG. He was the original Showtime before the Lakers did it as a team.

The Pistons did make MJ what he was…the Jordan Rules were actually first established in 1984 when MJ played on the USA team and Oscar Robertson was the head coach of the nba all star teams …MJ was always turned up on 100. His training was insane and that’s what made MJ air Jordan…Kobe never experienced anything like the pistons or knicks. The lakers 3peat was rigged by refs and Kobe’s scoring didn’t elevate over 30 until the 2004/2005 rule changes…also MJ could almost jump a foot higher than Kobe…Kobe copied baseball MJ cuz he could do nothing but Dream about being like Black Cat ✌🏽

To add to your collection, I think you'll find this next video of his career even more fascinating ->kzfaq.info/get/bejne/brNnrKWb2d7DeZc.html It's MJ's best rare video footage that shows things most have never seen or remember seeing...MJ made the game look so entertaining during those physically tough seasons...it was fun to watch him toying with defenders/defenses...how many bodies did he collect taking it to the basket, and score the 'and-1' free-throw? too many to count.

Mj was actually a good 3 point shooter but because the 3 point line was first presented in 1980 so Mj didnt practice that shot growing up so the frst 5-6 years he shot 20% because he maybe shot 50 3s in a season it wasnt a part of his game but when he made it a part of his game he shot a lot better from 3 and still ended up shooting around the same % from 3 as Kobe and Kobe used 3 way more in his game

Jordan retired for like 679 days over a year and a half out of Basketball. He was returning after the all star break and could not use number 23 ... because it was retired. Hanging over the court in the United Center. He chose 45 and wore it until someone was trash talking about him not living up to the Jordan comeback hype during a game. He came back after halftime wearing a white #23 Jordan Jersey and was fined $50,000 every game he wore that Jersey until the bulls were eliminated from the playoffs that year. So he rocked 45 about 2 months

HenDawgz, this is not about my Top 5 guys, this is something I like to show people to blow their mind. When you paused the video at 27:45 you will see Jordan in the air and the ball on the way, you will see the shot was taken with 6.6 left on the shot clock. Jordan was 6'6", it was Game 6, of the 6th Championship, for his 6th Finals MVP and he took his final shot as a Bull with 6.6 on the clock when that iconic pic was taken. Do you have any idea what the odds are of something like that happening. Its like it was ordained by the basketball gods.

Also, great basketball players such as Micheal Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas were awesome during their days but basketball fans forget about other greats such as Oscar Robertson. Oscar was considered the Micheal Jordan of his era as well.

I personally didn't lose interest in the NBA after he left in '93. Even though he was gone, the Bulls were still thrilling to watch, and even though he was gone, the quality of play and "fun" didn't go away. I myself was surprised that Houston won both of those years, because the Knicks, Magic, Jazz, SuperSonics, all such such amazing teams. I feel like there were so many teams that could have won. The Jordan Bulls wouldn't have lost another season until Jordan retired, and everybody knew it. Looking back, it sucks to even say this, but him being gone for 2 years seemed to help the NBA by letting everyone focus on so many other teams and players. Also, the deciding factor for GOAT is that Jordan did this highlight reel for 82 games a year, 40+ minutes per game. That became more of a rare thing this century.
@KyoAlexiel

well.. here the thing about Jordan. They didn't add a 3 pointer into basketball until the late 80's. That is why Basketball back in the day was so physical because people took it more to the paint back then. So Jordan had most of his career not worrying about a 3 point game. Besides he was so good at drawing fouls toward himself he would most the time and 1 and then make a shot from the free throw line.
