Nice review. Thank you for taking the time to share. I did a mag test with my KD9, and all the mags including PMAG10, Glock OEM 10/10, KCI 10/17, ETS clear 10/33, and SGM 10/33 all dropped free. Same observation with the mag insertion - some took more effort than others, but it was no big deal once you knew to give it a bit more force to hold. I had no issues in the first 400 rounds and haven't gone above that yet - pretty impressed with the rifle - sold my FX-9 and will be keeping this fella.

Glad to hear. Mags issue may be a break in thing or a QC issue, only way to test is to shoot.

I don't have the rifle anymore. Disassembly is very easy though, simply push out the rear pin and pull out the bolt assembly. Take off the buffer tube like any other buffer tube. The handguard has 3 screws, one on each side and one on the bottom. Just unscrew those and slide the handguard off. Reverse the steps to put it back together.

weird to see the magwell isnt flared, kinda necessary for any 3 gun or competition scenario. also id be very surprised if it was 11.2 pounds since thats 2.2 pounds heavier than my crusader sentinel and that is quite a heavy gun.

Technically it is flared, but it has to be smallest flared milling ever. And ya, I double checked the shipping box weight and it was no where near 11.2lbs. Although, I think FOC was also wrong. I'm fairly certain it's somewhere between 8.5-9.2 lbs.

That is a seriously interesting bolt mechanism. It’s like a strange merging of a regular blowback and the 180c bolt return spring. But after watching your first shots video it looks like it work’s awesome. Check out a take down video of a jrc. It looks like yours has less recoil. I would love to shoot that thing and compare the 2.

that mag with issues, try filing the latch recess on the mag itself some, should fix the issue

Would be better to demonstrate 'drop free' on mags with the firearm upright so the mags can actually drop free instead of upside-down so they are unable to 'drop' even if they could...

Korean mags, I bet. The bolt is a squared version of the Colt 9mm in a way. That would be a special heavy 9mm buffer.

Yup, the 33 round mag is a Korean mag. Are they known to have issues?

That's a funny BCG design. What's the purpose of an AR18-style dual guiderod when you already use a traditional buffer?

The way they've designed it the rods act as the rails. The BCG doesn't really ride on anything inside the receiver and the guide rods keep it in place to blowback straight.

So i just bought this and must hsve got a friday build. My trigget pin routinely slides out, causing a double fire and then jams, and that stupid pin on the stock popped out and I havent been able to get it back in. Anything like that happen to you?

I didn't have it long enough to complete the testing, but in the time I had it I didn't have those problems. It sound like classic Kodiak QC issues. Contact them and see what they can do.

How many rounds do you have through your K9? Is it proven to be reliable?

Hey, I just had a quick question, do you remember the size of the Allen/hex head you used to take the screws out? I’ve emailed Kodiak twice but haven’t had a reply yet, I know you don’t have the K9 anymore but I figured I’d ask anyway, thanks!

do these have the same issue with quick detach optics not fitting on like wk180 gen1 and gen2? Would you recommend this 9mm at $1000 price tag? How does this compare to FX-9?

The FX-9 is significantly lighter. If you can get the rifle at $1000 new, it's not a bad deal. I never completed the review, so this is not a whole hearted endorsement. It's just not a bad deal.

$999 plus tax, $1140 shipped to my door is a good deal, so i pulled the "trigger" on that purchase. 1000 rnd review coming soon...lol
