I was intrigued by the thumbnail of this new course inside the Kohle Audio Kult. Very interesting video. I like the way you put yourself in the same situation as many local bands trying to record and mix their first songs "on a budget" (besides the professional microphones, the Evo 16 is pretty affordable). Unfortunately I'm not a singer but I may attempt for the fun. It is well composed and we can easily find vocals parts ideas. 🤣

Fucking amazing vidéo ! Whole process explained.... I can understand one think again : the room and the playing matérial is much more important than the "recording" stuff....(preamps, hardware comp, converts etc.....) For sure not everyone have such a good room, brunetti amps and oc 818 mics, the best 2000 cabs with amazing v30 and so.... But what i most like in your vidéos is that u choose a way from the begining (recording with max 6 condenser mics) and then u adapt, and you explain exactely how you do to make it finally sound amazing !! Adapting to what you have on the moment and doing with is exactely what i think that make me progress and get better and better résults... Once again the passion can be seen in your eyes in the whole process and i every time love to see your vidéos !!!! They make me want to make the same, again and again.... Until i will got it..... Even if i ll be too old to wear an amp 😂 Sorry for the long message... Cheers from CH

Fun anecdote about that Nolly Saturn trick for getting rid of bleed! If you change the crossover slope to 6dB/Octave there's almost no phase shift at all, and you can use it in parallel or basically with abandon on drum tracks without any thing weird happening :D

Cool project, Kohle! Two questions (1) Did you consider not having toms for your drums? Then you could have had a pair of room mics and taken advantage of your great drum room! Or, had another kick mic and one omni room mic maybe? (2) Have you experimented with different headphone amps for your LCD-Xs? I'd be interested in a video on your experience with this if you have found any differences with different headphone amps.

Thanks for all of the great info. Cool song too. Only criticism is a lot of home recordists couldn't even afford one OC18 let alone an OC818, let alone multiples of each, especially those that would choose an EVO 16 over other interfaces on the market including Audient's iD44. Obviously you've gotta promote the cool shit from the companies you partner with so fair enough, but I recall you've done videos on selections of more affordable mics before so perhaps some links to those would help people who are just getting started, don't have a bunch of mics at home and need some guidance because they can't just go out and get a bunch of these killer mics.
