Thank you, I appreciate the positive words. It took a while and several phone calls but a year later it’s still performing beautifully. This past winter we had several long term power outages and it was so nice to hear it fire up.

I just had a 20,000 Kohler installed. We got a farm and used our old but still good 1000 gallon propane tank. 😂😂

We have yet to have an extended power outage so I don’t know how long I can expect this 120 gallon tank to last.

Thought about getting one for a long time. Never did like the maintenance, Battery oil. too much. Start up every month for twenty minutes. Propane and Gas could be scarce and expensive. Noise is a problem too. Went for two 3600 lipo battery. Like that I can charge with solar.

I also had several reservations, the biggest being cost. Our home is right on the SW Washington coast and since my wife & I moved down here permanently in mid December we’ve had 3 major storms and 3 power outages, the last of which lasted 14hrs and we had family down for the holidays. Any of my misgivings have vaporized. The exercise mode can be manually set to any period of time you wish, months ahead if wanted. Noise isn’t a issue with neighbors as we’re in a rural area and being placed twenty some feet from the house we honestly can’t hear it running unless the TV and or stereo are off. Changing the oil is quick & simple and only required once a year especially if good quality is used. Before I retired we lived in a small town 90 miles inland and it wasn’t uncommon to go years without a power outage and when it did occur it was very short lived so anything more than a portable generator was impractical. I was also pleasantly surprised to find liquid propane prices didn’t increase like gasoline & diesel over the last few years. If we lived in a sunny climate I would entertain a solar/battery bank system but we average 80” of rain annually so the options are limited to power our home for extended periods. I know this is a long explanation of our situation but if any others read this exchange I want them to understand the situation. Cheers!

Have you thought about getting a 500 lp tank for it. I been looking at kohler generator 20kw . They said full load 2.2 gallon propane.

I was looking into a larger tank but back in January we lost power for nearly 24 hours and the generator ran the entire time. I was surprised at how little gas it used. I came to realize my household electric demand averages about 25% capacity of the generator. All told so far it’s run our home about 33 hours this winter and consumed 35 gallons of propane. If I stumble across a good deal on a larger tank I’ll probably get it but for now I’m comfortable with the size. I’m also planning to set up my system so I can run a smaller portable inverter generator to handle my 110v circuits. That way if we have a severe storm and a extended outage I’ll use the Kohler when we want to use high demand appliances but otherwise we’ll run the smaller unit for lighting & entertainment. I should say I also have a big wood stove that keeps the central air heat from running most days. I want to also state for the record my wife and I are both extremely glad we purchased the Kohler, no remorse or regret at all. We’re right on the North Pacific coastline and it is a very satisfying feeling when the generator fires up in the midst of a storm.

Can I ask what the brand of secondary regulator you used, the brown one outside of the generator, and do you know what the range of inches WPC or water column. Did you buy that at the gas supply company?

I’m in the process of moving to the home with the recently installed generator. Currently I’m 90 miles away packing my belongings. I’ll post the information you requested when I return. The gas supply equipment was purchased from various suppliers including a local general store and the propane supplier. I’m sorry I don’t have the information handy. We haven’t yet experienced a power outage but the unit fires up in exercise mode every two weeks without fail.

In reviewing pictures on my phone I believe all the regulators used were marshall brand. I’ll post the model numbers when I return.

Get that battery on a charge as soon as you can, for as of now the controller is using all the power from it .

Thanks for the heads up. I’m almost finished with the electrical hookup, I disconnected the battery in the interim.

You need a drip leg on the propane line before the regulator .

Thanks for the heads up. Do you think a 3 or 4 inch stub would suffice? Fortunately it hasn’t been used for any extended periods yet so hopefully no major amount of contaminants have been ingested.

I think either is fine probably. I'd go longer than shorter probably

@@jatoav8or I'm planning on doing mine today or tomorrow. I'm gonna put a 4inch before my in line regulator.(I have one because my distance form tank, we had to increase the pressure because of the distance is far, then it's regulated down to regular pressure) And a 4 inch at the unit also

@@jordanonofer3886 My experience plumbing gas is limited. Never had gas heating or cooking in any of my homes so I appreciate that you raised my awareness. The company supplying the gas & tank should have mentioned it when they looked it over for me.

@@jatoav8or Hey no prob. Just set mine today. Gotta do the line still. But yeah I overlooked that on my old one. So now that I'm doing a new one. Def wanted to mention it to you after noticing it. Best of luck with everything

For anyone in a cold climate, that tank won't run that gen. For anyone in a warm climate, that tank holds 96 gallons of LPG when full, if that gen is at half rated load you can get about half of it out if it is 55 degrees, maybe 2/3rds if it is 90 degrees outside, so somewhere between 24 and 32 hours of run time at half load, temperature variable.

I’m having some RPM surging issues during exercise perhaps it’s fuel related?
@thastinger3454 ай бұрын
@@jatoav8or do you have a gauge on that tank? How much is in it? If it is less than half full, that probably is the issue.
@jatoav8or4 ай бұрын
@@thastinger345 The gas company keeps the tank topped off. I need to check the pressure delivery.
