Hey Aquamigos! In this video I continue with the diy koi pond build and I do a bunch of things! I got some rosey red minnows to eat the mosquito larvae in the koi pond, I put some of my guppies in the pond too. Then I filled the pond up completely with water and I continued with installing the wall toppers on the pond's retaining wall and I installed the pond skimmer! Overall it was a productive couple of days. Let me know what you think!

You will save more money if you use mortar to glue the caps, especially since you will be stuccoing the entire wall.

For mosquitoes what you need are tadpoles.

Great work aquamigo I would have just put your little koi in there he would have have gobbled up all that larvae and would have done him good but never mine the copings are looking great 👍

Thanks so much Aquamigo! and you are right, I don't know why I was thinking I needed small fish to eat the mosquito larvae. The koi and goldfish could have done the job

Hey Aquamigo, you can get a coupler instead of a new threaded adaptor…then you can fine tune the length of the 2” pipe

Hi Aquamigo, that's true! I might try that! I was also thinking, I may actually wait until the pump is running in case it pulls the floating part down a little

Do guppies and koi coexist? As I have an issue with mosquitoes too but my petshop person said that koi have to be alone or with comets only, I think she's not knowing enough

I do believe that koi will eat pretty much anything that they can fit in their mouths (if they can catch them). So I will be moving my guppies out of there before I add any larger koi fish. I need to take the guppies back out of the pond by the end of the summer anyway because it will get too cold for them in the fall. In your pond are you able to see the mosquito larvae?

@@TobiasHolenstein my koi are fairly small now, largest being about 7 inch now. Yes I can see larvae but not so much where there is lot of water flowing, just about few "dead zones around where I have some pond plants like canna lilies around the edges of the pond

@@jerrychetty2524 Oh ok yeah, I was going to say other fish will eat them too. Including your smaller koi if they are able to see the larvae and also goldfish, but it might be hard for them to find the larvae if they are hiding in the plants

Thank you Aquamigo! I don't know why, but at the time I had in mind that I needed small fish (like mosquito fish) to eat the mosquito larvae and I didn't think to just move over some of my goldfish to do the job 😂
