I decided I would make another video to show some more details about the Kohler toilet. And include some useful tech tips Where to get the seal goo.gl/UTa45D

Sir, between the part I and II videos that you posted, I just learned from you how to fix my Kohler and saved a bunch of money and time waiting for a plumber. You are a gentleman and a scholar and I shake your hand.

Thank you for serving the public. I followed your videos to fix my Kohler toilet's hissing sound. I got away with cleaning off the minerals from the rubber part without replacing anything. There were little pieces of minerals that were keeping the system from running smoothly.

Thank you so much for posting this. You just saved me a costly emergency holiday call to the plumber. A $7 fix for the seal on the canister. ❤️❤️

Thank you sir! I thought that I was going to need to replace the entire fill valve and possibly take the tank off the toilet but after watching your videos it confirmed my suspicions that it was just the washer! Kudos to you!

Thanks, Geoff! Replaced the big gasket first, didn’t work - then cleaned the little black one, and running water stopped!! Thanks SO much for making this video!!

Geoff you and KZfaq just saved me a huge headache lol. We just installed a new Kohler for my grandmother and it flushed just fine but it wouldn't stop hissing after. It just kept slowly filling, just barely. Brand new toilet and I'm thinking I'll need a repair guy to come or we'll have to install a new one. I popped the top off that float valve (mine is yellow) and there was a tiny piece of debris in there. Just enough to prevent that rubber gasket from seating properly. I flicked it out of there and viola! Works perfect. Just thought I'd let you know and anyone else that has this issue. If the toilet continues filling and making a noise just try popping off that top piece under the red (or yellow) cap and have a look see.

Thanks so much for the video. My husband travels for work and it really helps if I can fix things like this by myself because stuff only breaks when he's out of town.🙄 I just replaced the old red seal with the new yellow version seal from Kohler. I found it at Home Depot. So far so good, no more running toilet, thanks so much again! P.S. You're out of toilet paper...oh dear

Thank you SO much! I watched both parts of your video and between the both, I fixed my issue. I did have to make a kettle adjustment to the float, but you saved me from having to have my husband do it or call plumber (doesn’t care to fix things like I do😂). Quite sure he would’ve replace the whole inside of the toilet. To anyone who has not watched both parts of the video they both were helpful so you might miss something if you don’t watch both. Thank you again I’ll be back if I need any more plumbing help! 😁OH..Forgot this part I never drained the toilet, only turned water off, then flushed it twice. I didn’t see the need to drain it all the way I just stuck my hands in there.

I found mine and all your other products at Home Depot. Thank you so much for your step by step instructions on how to change the gasket on the Kohler toilet. When I lifted the lid I almost passed out. I had never seen such a contraption!! I will remember the rest of your video if I have to remove the other parts. Hopefully not.

The reason that sticky crap, which he mentioned looked like "beef left out too long", is the 'drywall mud' used on the wall. On top of the "red cap" as well, one could see the debris from the spackling. Apparently they left the toilet canister lid open to mud the wall.
@geoffhoweth6 жыл бұрын
ma pi yeah you're probably right. That sheetrock mud contains sodium hydroxide in it. That could have had something to do with it thanks for watching.🤔

Ohhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! You are awesome Geoff!!!!! Thanks so much! I replaced the seal and that didnt work, but then took the red cap off, took the rocker arm off. Saw some debris in the little strainer area and got it out delicately with a needle, and that was it!!!!! No more running! Great vids! Scott.

9:40 Lowe's has the rubber part made by FluidMaster. Don;t know number. You don;t need to pry the red cap off. Just twist "lefty-loosy" a quarter turn, and righty-tighty to put it back on.
@blkcreek42074 жыл бұрын
That part that you were talking about is called a canister! The reason why no because I just had to replace everything on the inside of my toilet I have one of those touchless toilets which is a big is a mistake I ever made buying a Kohler
@pbcatlanta12773 жыл бұрын
Jeff.. I turn and lock the canister thingy.. but 2 days later it comes back aloose so the canister does not go back in.. is my chain too long.. ?
@anniehatessocialmedia3 жыл бұрын
Is it necessary to put it back & "lock it" into the base? I saw your previous video and took mine apart but didn't "lock" it or twist it back. Unfortunately I cannot turn the water off since the knob doesn't work so I worked in the water. I found I think I need to replace the seal under the red cap though. My toilet doesn't seem to be as noisy or running as much at this time. Thank you!!
@honolulu14763 жыл бұрын
So fill valve cap color indicates the speed of filling the tank: yellow been slow fill, red is medium fill. What about blue and black caps ? Thanks

You don't have to take off the red cap, just twist the whole top with the arm towards the wall and the whole top comes off.
