Great description and review of the KOM rocker plate, dead on! I did indeed have to get use to getting out of the saddle correctly but once it clicks, no problem. Great plate for the price and it does make riding more comfortable.

I use Turbo Rocks with front to back which is excellent. Really helps to do longer turbo rides.

Nice looking Rocker plate , I have been experimenting with rubber carpet pad a few layers 12” wide and 5’ long and then 1” plywood on top that’s 24” wide and 5 ‘ long with wahoo kicker and it really helps comfort for the pain cave and it’s easy to adjust with extra pad and a level

Would the side-to-side motion from this Rocker Plate be better than the built-in side-to-side flex on the Tacx Neo 2 or 2T?

I just got mine and like it since it made it less sore riding the bike indoors. My only issue was my balls slowly released air while on the trainer which caused me to stop to put air back into balls and then re-level the platform.

What are your thoughts on this versus the MP1 ? The MP1 is more than twice the cost, but is it worth it? I'm very tempted by the MP1. I come from using the eMotion rollers, and am wondering is the MP1 will deliver the closest feeling to the eMotion rollers that can be achieved on a trainer.

I have never been on the MP1 platform but been on other rocker plates with fore aft motion. Not the same as the eMotion but I would say it’s very close. There is a side to side motion that you get with the emotion that no rocker plate can replicate. But I would say the quality of the ride with the fore aft motion in a rocker plate is much better than rigid or just a regular rocker plate.

Bang on analysis. Rocker plate works exactly in opposite fashion than real road which make me question its ergonomic benefits. It might even cause more stress on the body during HIIT. It is not a popular product but once it becomes popular we might see some rocker plate specific injuries for indoor cycling.

We have literally tens of thousands of riders in our group. Even with the "wrong" pedal/lean timing, we see people get plenty of benefits from rockers. As far as considering what is "bad", is motion in the wrong direction worse than no motion? We have ridden rigid trainers for decades with no apparent issues. From what I have seen in 3 years of our group, there are no new or worse issues from rocking, even in the wrong timing.

@@matthewk3233 Yes, improved saddle comfort is the biggest benefit to adding motion to a rigid trainer. That benefit is far and away the most common change by people who add a rocker plate or motion via simple compressible supports under the trainer. I did a lengthy video showing saddle pressure mapping between rigid and 3 levels of trainer motion. There is a notable difference in pressures, that seems to parallel the anecdotal improvement claimed by so many rocker users. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aLJ2aM-cvsrGc5c.html

Wow KOM copied/stole the design of the Rockr Pro. The shape is a bit different but otherwise same design. The difference with the rockr pro is that you can by a hardware kit for about 1/3 of the price and build your own.

The fundamental design of rocker plates are very similar. I think KOM did a few things to improve on that design in few areas, also making it cheaper and easier to ship.

1) In reality, RideNow (the original maker of the rocker reviewed here) copied Co-Plate, Rocker Indoor Training and other small builders (that pioneered this vibration mount design). 2) Then Wiggle/Chain Reaction Cycles got the RideNow rocker relabeled and sold under the LifeLine name. 3) Next, KOM Cycling decided to use the RideNow model, add some color and sell what is still the same basic rocker. What we have are three rockers with the same design and function, that are only different in branding.
