Amazing Places on Our Planet

8 жыл бұрын

The Komodo National Park has been created to conserve the Komodo dragon and its habitat, and also to protect the area's terrestrial and marine biodiversity. It has been selected as one of the "New 7 Wonders of Nature".
The Park is UNESCO World Heritage Site (quote from unesco.org): "These volcanic islands are inhabited by a population of around 5,700 giant lizards, whose appearance and aggressive behaviour have led to them being called 'Komodo dragons'. They exist nowhere else in the world and are of great interest to scientists studying the theory of evolution. The rugged hillsides of dry savannah and pockets of thorny green vegetation contrast starkly with the brilliant white sandy beaches and the blue waters surging over coral."
Recorded April 2016 in 4K (Ultra HD) with Sony AX100.

Wow. Gorgeous. I was fortunate to visit Komodo Island in 1997 and 2 guides led our small group on a trail & kept pointing out Komodo dragon scat on the trail :) The giant lizards were lying in the sun (one guide poked a lizard to get him to move with his long stick) and some lizards were finishing up the last of a goat they'd been fed. (The guide said they were trying to feed them less often. Tourists wanted to take photos of them eating but too much food wasn't healthy.) The fruit bats footage was a nice surprise :) Thank you for your beautiful work.

Amazing colors, I don't know if you enhance the saturation of colors but they are nice (especially during the bird-eyes view at the end) ! I was there in august 2015 and all the grass was brown, totally different feeling ! ;) I hope you stopped at pink beach on the way back to Labuanbajo from Komodo Island, really worth it (and underwater is even more beautiful at manta point or at the island where you took pictures from your drone). What did you think about the "wild" komodo dragon waiting in front of the ranger kitchen ?
@milosh9k
@milosh9k 8 жыл бұрын
+Fabistouflight I was there in the beginning of April, end of the rainy season, not much rain but beautiful greenery, the hills were unbelievably beautiful! Yes, we did stop st the Pink beach the sand was just lightly pink, I could not take my camera though as I had to swim to the beach. We saw some mantas close to the Manta point but the water was rough and I do not have underwater camera or bag. The view that looks like taken from a drone is in fact from a small hill at the very small island. About the wild dragon - they certainly recognize people as special kind, but still caution is needed, one of the dragons attacked a deer, but missed... Unfortunately I could not capture that moment, but someone from our boat got it on smartphone

The Komodo dragon, the largest lizard on Earth, calls this island home. This is reason enough to travel to Komodo island but there is plenty more to see. Komodo island offers hiking, diving, pristine beaches, and incredible waterfalls where you can cool off after a long day exploring.

Komodo dragons really creep me out. I saw a TV programme once with, i think, Steve Backshall where he is about ten feet from several dragons that are resting in the shade under a house that's on wooden stilts. The dragons have their eyes closed, but when Steve closes his own eyes - the dragon immediately opens its eyes! And when Steve opens his eyes, the dragon closes it's eyes. It was pretending to be asleep with what looked like closed eyes but it was watching steves eyes like a hawk all the time. It seemed to be waiting for him to doze off then launch an attack at him. They are such cunning, calculating, intelligent creatures you have to be so careful and must never be on your own out there you have to have a guide with you and a bloody big stick incase they get too close.

Actually they can eat each other, thats why their baby and small young komodo always hide on the top of tree, because the bigger one will hunt them on the ground, the small one only move to the ground when they are hungry

This new study states that Komodo dragons (2020) are like phytons and saltwater crocodiles, where Komodo dragons can swim in water, have a tongue to smell, have poison, have thick skin, canibalism, have large nails and enjoy sunbathing. Komodo between the two, a brutal animal. Even the Komodo Dragon is different from the Monitor Lizard. Looks same but very very different. It was even reported that a TOURIST FROM SINGAPORE was bitten on the leg by Komodo Dragons and that was not the only incident. This is no joke and this is 100% real. The tourist from Singapore did not know the difference between a Monitor and a Komodo dragon, so in the end he was bitten by a medium-sized Komodo dragon on his leg and his left leg was torn, so he was also brought in for treatment. Difference between Komodo Dragons and Monitor/Water/Bengal/Asian Lizards, please be careful, it's better to meet Monitor than Komodo. Because the tourist accident incident due to the Komodo Dragons attack in Indonesia is a real incident. Even now the population of Komodo Dragons has increased to 3.500, exceeding the population of the Giant Panda. Komodo Dragons are amazing animals and have many skills. Komodo dragons eat deer, monkeys, cows, buffalo, snakes, small Komodo dragons, turtles, fish, goats, wild boars, snakes and so on which are considered edible. With just a small scratch, Komodo dragons can smell the blood of their victims from a great distance. >Komodo Dragon can lay eggs without the need for fertilization. > Its claws are sharp, hard and large and can even dig the ground as deep as 1 meter to find food or lay eggs. >Skin that has a rough, hard and thick layer, even if the Komodo dragon sheds its skin, the peeled skin does not crumble or shrink. >Komodo dragons' teeth are like saws, very small but also very many. Located under the skin of the gums. Its function is not to bite but to tear. >Komodo Dragons have 2 layers of eyes, namely to see at night and dive under water. Because Komodo dragons can also swim and dive. >Its nature is very deceptive and very similar to a crocodile, the Komodo dragon pretends to be silent and will attack if the target is off guard. However, if the target runs, the Komodo dragon only needs to give 1 small scratch. >Komodo Dragons are also included in cannibal animals where they eat smaller ones. >Komodo Dragons have very good antibodies that's why there are no cases of Coronavirus or Covid19 that have affected the Komodo Dragon, unlike Dogs, Tigers, Lions, Bears or Wolves. Basically, in the body of the Komodo dragon there are more than 100 types of bacteria and viruses. >Komodo Dragons do not depend on water to survive, because basically the mouth of the Komodo dragon is always filled with its own saliva. So that he can survive even though the weather is dry. > It should also be noted that Komodo dragons are animals that have been named by UNESCO, NATGEO, ANIMAL PLANET, BBC EARTH and others as prehistoric animals for world history. >The Komodo dragon eats its prey alive slowly but also swallows it whole according to the size of its mouth. >The Komodo dragon can also camouflage by deceiving its prey, such as blending into the sand, becoming a statue, playing dead, lurking from a distance and following the scent it smells at a distance of more than 5km. Komodo is identified as a prehistoric animal because the bones of the Komodo dragon do not have the same backbone as saltwater crocodiles, pythons, blue whales and white sharks. And their way of life is to be alone, not in groups. The characteristics of Komodo dragons are indeed very ancient, such as saltwater crocodiles and pythons. Because these 3 beasts have the exact same characteristics. There are even videos of Komodo dragons eating pregnant deer, eating water buffalo alive, eating turtle shells, eating fruit bat, eating wild pig alive, eating monkey alive and so on. Komodo Dragons are included in the category of animals for researchers because they have been studied for a long time and previously, Komodo dragons were not notified to the public. Therefore several Komodo dragons were brought to the zoo internationally for observation. Many people hate komodo dragons because it is their trademark, basically dragons are ancient animals that even existed before the ice civilization and human civilization. So, komodo dragons is world heritage for International. Komodo dragons are much older than tigers, lions, wolves, bears, dogs, cats, monkeys, horses, elephants, bulls, pandas, porcupines, gorillas, foxes, giraffes, eagles, leopards, polar bears, chickens and kangaroos. Saltwater Crocodiles, Pythons, White Shark, Blue Whale and Komodo Dragons are 5 originality very ancient series of animals (From Lilith era).
