Novak is a perfect representative of being able to get sober and changing your life for the better. He was a junkie to the extreme and luckily got out of it before he died. Addicts don’t have as much time as he did to get clean now either because Novak was on heroine instead of fentanyl back in the day. They need to get off of the drugs quick nowadays because that fentanyl makes it a very fast ticking time bomb.

I was an addict for 15 years I watched Brandon's narcotics anonymous lead on KZfaq when I was in rehab and it was the first time I realized someone as bad off as I was could change their life. I've been sober over 800 days now.

I’ll never forget hearing Brandons story and watching him tell it on KZfaq when I was in an inpatient treatment center 23 months ago. It was the most amazing story I’ve ever heard from an addict, and such a significantly motivating experience!! I’m beyond grateful to say that in another month I’ll have 2 years sober!! Everything he shared about recovery on this podcast is absolutely the truth, life only continues to get better when you keep doing the next right thing! Congrats Brandon, on all of your accomplishments and thank you for what you do for the recovery community! #WeDoRecover #OneDayAtATime

This was a weird full circle type moment for me watching this. In middle school my friends and I all had the CKY videos on VHS; I watched probably every episode of Viva La Bam and Jackass. A lot of my friends skated and we were always getting chased away from buildings and parking lots because back then it seemed like our city's biggest issue was teenagers grinding the rails outside of the tech school and the court house, or doing our own dumb stunts and being "disruptive". I've also had an extraordinary amount of people close to me throughout my life who have battled addiction and fought some of my own demons. I've seen people hit the lowest points in their lives, and I've been to more funerals of people I loved who lost their fight than I can count. I've followed Brandon's story for a long time and have watched what he's chosen to share about his journey to getting clean. I've been working in the recovery field now for 8 years, first in a residential program for teenage girls in early recovery, and now in my state's only detox program for teens, and I've often had my clients watch his documentary and interviews he's done about his journey. Listening to him talk about the importance of getting people into treatment regardless of financial barriers made me cry. I see how broken this system is every day; how greedy and selfish people can be, and how heartless it is to turn someone away because they can't afford treatment. I see people with no money and no insurance going to into state funded programs that treat them like trash, give them a 5 day spin dry, and send them right back out to the streets with no resources and it kills me, so hearing him talk about that gives me hope that eventually compassion and a sincere desire to lift others up regardless of what they have to offer will win over greed. I hope you all have a safe and happy new year!

Currently I am still living within 4 miles of were I grew up near West Bmore close to Pratt & Monroe. I have been struggling off and on with addiction for years, with some really good stretches but its back to a downward self sabotaging spiral. After doing "okay" for a while. This podcast came right at the right moment in time and youre absolutely right about being exactly where we're supposed to be. Thanks Danny and huge thank you Brandon for all the work you're doing.

Wow, I was not expecting this one at all, very well done here Danny. I actually just watched his video “Tomorrow is going to be better” and highly recommend it for anyone interested in his stuff beyond this. It’s truly heartwarming to see him on here honestly. I’m sure I’m just one of the many who grew up watching the boys of jackass/Viva la bam and their shenanigans, and if I’m speaking honestly, I almost always felt very badly for Novak while watching him throughout the show. To me it always seemed as if they picked on him more than the others and that he was always having a hard time, just those vibes I guess and couldn’t ever quite place my finger on what made me feel that way. Little did I know that he was fighting for his very life all while making us laugh but it makes sense now looking back. However sad it may be/been, for Novak to be here with Danny sharing his story and encouraging others to change their lives for the better is nothing short of a miracle, just as he said, and brings me immense joy. Not sure if you’ll ever see this bro but your story is one of the best out there and just glad you’re using it to make the world a better place. We love and support you Brandon, just keep your head up and stay strong! 😌💪 if anyone is interested in that video of his then I’ll put the link below! It’s a great watch/listen and really puts things into perspective. Great job again Danny! Keep up the great work! Also really glad to see hatrack making a return on here as well! I read novaks book dream seller in 2009 and got to speak with him about it that day at the memorial and novak was freshly sober still on suboxone I’m sure or atleast just got off it and just started working with banyan and Tim Ryan. I’m so proud of him and Tim and what they do. And now seeing Bam doing a amzing is incredible makes me happy asf. ❤

It’s hard for people that have never experienced addiction to understand what active addiction feels like inside. All they see are the outward manifestations they don’t see the broken parts inside that need to heal in order for the addict to have a somewhat normal life. I’ve been clean for 7 years and my life is good but I still find myself having to deal with my demons occasionally because I know if I don’t they will get bigger and consume me. As addicts we really are just one bad choice from being back in the pit.
