Nepotism has been one of the most discussed issues in K-Pop lately. With YG's subsidiary allegedly debuting one of the richest girls from South Korea, fans and netizens are calling the company out for the supposed "nepotism".

It's not just the connections that helps them but the money their rich parents can spend on dancing classes, singing classes and musical instrument classes that are so very expensive and also time consuming that a normal person could not have time for if they had to work or study hard to support themselves and their families. It's not just about what you know but who you know.

Nepotism is a tough one to tackle because there will be some that legitimately have the talent and work ethic but there will be just as many if not more that get there solely based on money and connections. Especially now that, let's be real, there are a lot of "singers" that can't sing well because music production is such that a good producer and engineer can make anyone sound amazing, not to mention if you're rish and well connected, you'll have access to the best teachers, best producers, best equipment and even going into how looks are considered so important for idols, nepo babies can afford surgeries, cosmetics, designer clothes and styling, etc so they just immediately come in with such a huge advantage over the others that it's easy to see how it's problematic when combined with the requirements expected of idols. It's tough, there's no clear answer because you can't say that nonone from anrich background can be an idol and only a few are noticeably not as good as the others where you could claim they clearly only made it because of something besides their talent. And on the flip side, just objectively having a nepo baby in a group makes sense because connections are everything. If a group has great singers and dancers and then a less talented nepo baby that has direct ties to famous or powerful people in the industry, their presence is technically gonna be more instrumental to the success of the group than anyone else there whether it's fair or not so is it right to say they shouldn't be there when other positions that have nothing to do with musical talent are expected? Like visuals, someone being hot should have nothing to do with music but it's as important if not more important. Age? Race? The nepo baby problem is a symptom of what sells in Kpop IMO.

Even with her experience the senior rule she got while exceeded the her education and experience. Where someone like Kim Chae won provide time and time again to be a part of the industry even though her mother is an actress in Korea. Yes, it helps being from a rich family so you don't have the same struggles but doesn't mean you are going to succeeded in the industry.

Great video once again miss Kookielit. I think it sure helps a company, if one of the members has a ritch or famous backgroup. Ritch parents don't want there kids to fail and maybe pump money into the group, giving them better promotion or more comebacks. But if that is a good thing.......I'm not sure of it.

Except SNSD Sunny was a real deal back in the day. All around good performer, singer, dancer, great energy, personality, talent in hosting and being a radio DJ. She revolutionized and popularized "Aegyo" in the more recent times and was the standard on how female Kpop idols should perform in Variety shows. She made a mark in the industry. It just so happened that she is a relative of the CEOs and such but it doesn't really have anything to do with her being popular. Sunny worked hard and earned it.

I’m ngl these days as long as you have connections, have a marketable image and a bit of talent you can become a kpop idol. Members in groups nowadays can sing and dance but I just think the quality individually isn’t that great(for SOME idols). It feels like, if you work visually than the company will work on you’re dancing and singing after, rather than the other way around.

With Kpop being more popular than ever now, it's not going to be cheap to get into it. So, people with good connections and have money are more likely to be successful. It's only natural. However, if you suck you're still not going to make it far lol people in the industry still have to train no matter how much money you make and go through the same struggles working day after day to be the best they can be.

The girls in the Black Label haven't even debuted so we have no clue what talent the may or may not have. And if they have the money to pay for what they need to male it then so be it.... the idols that don't have the path carved out by their parents will always prove themselves no matter the case. But nepotism babies I have seen have to work harder and if they can't get where they need then they will fall out. SUNNY IS ACTUALLY TALENTED!!! After Jessica left we seen alot more of Sunnys vocals and talent.

Who cares about Nepo baby? For as long as they're talented, they can join the industry. Besides, debuting doesn't mean they already succeed. They need hardwork to reach success. Anton is such a talented kid. I fell in love with his voice without knowing his background. He may be a Nepo baby, but I'm just so glad that he managed to debut and share his talent to the world. Jin may came from a rich family, but that doesn't excused him from the harsh reality of a trainee. If you're an army, you would know how hard it was for them when they were trainee and even after debut, BTS still struggled. Success wasn't handed to them freely, they worked hard for it, including Jin. Some people may say it's unfair for those who worked hard just to debut or be part of a certain group, just because Nepo baby has money and connection doesn't mean they will succeed in this industry without trying too hard, after all, talent plays a big role. And it's not like they chose to be born rich. Those names who were mentioned are all talented except that one trainee who hasn't debut yet (I don't know her skills).

I think mostly its the companies... they should consider everyone based on thier talents not just backgrounds.. like if a trainee is training for more than half of their life and then there are nepos or rich kids who just jump in easily through connections and debut like in 1 or half a year. And also companies considering the rich families in first places...like no hate to any idol but we can clearly see in yg and black label there's literally not a single idol since the company got big who came frm a normal family.

Yes if they are talented yay but there are many more people that have talent that have opportunities ripped away because people with rich parents and connections come first. Class issues are a problem, nepotism is a problem, you SHOULD care about that even if your fave is. Honestly I’m shocked people want to act like this is a ok or neutral thing. Pathetic. Like the amount of people saying “as long as they can sing good idc if they used connections!” Do y’all hear yourself 😭 You don’t have to hate these idols but man that is not a good thing and does say something to their talent if they could not have gotten in without those connections.

The fact that all the nepo babies are from big 4 if they are talented why they don't go for small companies
@Thetenacityofkassidy
@Thetenacityofkassidy 3 ай бұрын
Not to be rude but why would they wanna go to a small company like even if they are talented and end up debuting under the small company the chance that they will get the recognition they deserve is pretty small, like there are dozens of kpop groups that debut every year but only some get popular, even groups like mamamoo don’t get the recognition they deserve and they are literally all aces also they hav been idols for almost 10 years, I mean if you are talented then it’s better to go under a big company so you have a higher chance of getting recognition and success, I mean look at baemon they are all very talented and under yg entertainment, honestly expected it though cause yg has the most allrounders out of hybe, jyp, yg, and sm. Honestly I think the only company where the nepo baby thing is huge is at hybe I mean a majority of hybe idols get in because they can dance or they were popular before debut, also I’m not trying to discredit hybe idols cause most of the idols there are like dance machines but yk that’s not enough.
